Good luck today lads! Hope to watch a great football match. I really hope we don't waste as many chances as we did in the 1st leg.

You have some injuries but we will miss a lot Pique and Puyol. And the team is really fatigued, Messi looks too slow at the moment. Lets's see if we can go on to the next round or if you destroy our dreams of winning again a final at Wembley.

It will be a hard blow if we don't go on, but at least we will do it against one of the few teams out there that tries to play football against us. I really admire Arsenal for what they represent in these times, so out of rivalries, I think fans of both teams, above all, should be proud of what we do and what we represent.

Unlike Gerd, I completely disagree.

If football was a beauty competition, then yes, maybe. But it's not. Arsenal came 2nd in their group behind Shakhtar so weren't even the best in a 4-team group which wasn't the strongest either. Now unless they can get past Barcelona, there's no reason they should be in the final. What have they done to deserve being in the final 2 of Europe? This statement is friendly and a nice gesture of sportsmanship by drekkard but unwarranted and undeserved in my opinion.

Results speak for themselves and so far, Shakhtar even deserves to be in the final more than they do and that's just one team.

I also disagree with drekkard when he says Arsenal are favourites. I believe Barca are despite no Puyol and Pique which can be very problematic as I trust Abidal but not Milito anymore and Busquets as CB is also very shaky.

I think it'll be an entertaining and fiery game with lots of goals. I can see this finishing 4-2 or 3-1 or something like that for Barca.
 
If you go only with your brains, you're right PLF. But when they say it should be the final it's from the football fan perspective, as they want to see football match that is pleasant to watch crowning a champion. But I'm a football fan who enjoys a final regardless of who's playing, I enjoy those really nervy finals :)

The fact that Arsenal were runner-ups doesn't mean that they don't deserve to be in the final. I said it before when we lost to Birmingham, the beauty of cup football is that the weaker team can win if they're really on their day.
In fact, if Arsenal eliminates Barcelona today, it will totally make up for finishing 2nd in the group stages, and then people will change their mind and say "hey, this team deserves to win this thing"!

Regardless of who wins today, I want today's winner to be champions for the sake of good football.

No it doesn't automatically mean they don't deserve to be in final jsut because they finished runners up BUT it sure doesn't mean they do either. They only do IF and it's a BIG IF they get past Barca and the other teams in Q-finals and semi-finals. IF they do that which is a big IF then of course they deserve to in final. :)

But to say that this should've been the final right now, is totally unwarranted from anything but the romantic perspective which like you said is probably what drekkard meant it from and even disrespectful to the other teams in the competition.

Because as of right now, Shakhtar deserves to be in the final more than Arsenal does not just based on group stage but also going away to Roma and doing what they did in 1st leg and that's just one team, there are others.
 
Ee're being too slow but seems Arsenal refuses to play by now. They may change their strategy in the 2nd half. On the other hand, we try to do over-complciated things instead of finishing the chances.

Messi is playing poorly (by his standards, he's out of shape), yet he does another historic goal. This guy is amazing. If he wakes up a little more and recovers a little his form, Arsenal will have a tough time in the 2nd half.

I've been quite let down by Wenger, though. They're playing ultra-defensive. I didn't expect that from Arsenal, so they deserve the result at halftime.

that was probably the best thing that could happen for arsenal, maybe now they fucking attack a bit. Barcelona have such bad central defenders this game but Arsenal choose to park the bus to get 0-0... good luck with that.

Didn't they see how to score against them last game? counter attack with a lot of people when barcelona only leave 2-3 people in the back. Parking the bus is such a bad tactic. If you're going out, do it with class, play your own game.
 
I don't think Arsenal its parking the bus, they just can't took the ball away from Barça players, Gunner's defense its very advanced and they are making a high pressure.

Diaby too slow to create worthy pressure or match the passing tempo.

Would prefer Eboue in the midfield over Diaby.

Clichy kept missing his markings.

Bendtner should have put that last one away even though it was a tough one.

I just cant beleive it... we had our chance to win it and we blew it off again by being immature...
The backline looked like a schoolboy backline with everyone playing for themselve and moving up whenever they want and create immense hole.

Van persie with the stupid mistake...Fabregas is def going next season.

Wilshere needs a mention cause he was the best player on the Field. With a performance like this he just stepped on the World football stage as one of the best in years to come.

TOTAL W*NKER! Not only because of that ridicilious red card. Had no idea what the hell he was doing!

Nasri and Wilshere where the best on the field. Also props to Almunia for the saves, and the defenders for sticking in there for the whole game.
 
Bad luck, guys. The ref was abysmal, a red card like that is just childish. But on the other hand, the ref also missed a penalty to Messi in the first half.

I don't think the ref can be of any excuse, specially after the refeering on the first match. Arsenal had 0 shots on goal in the full match, that's the reason why. You were lucky to have the draw undeservedly, and unlucky with that card. But you didn't deserve to go on. I mean, I was expecting an attacking side. It's the only way to hurt us, to play us with offensive power.

In fact, having a goal in this match it's just like winning the lottery, very undeserved. You didn't even shot! We wasted so many chances, like in the first match, and almost costed us the round. But I have the feeling that was Wenger who lost the match today, the same way he won the first one against all odds.

All in all, much will be written about VP red card, but I think Wenger played too deffensive. I really think we were the better team, by far, in the overall and deserved to go through.

PS: By the way, Kocielny and Alves didn't deserve to finish the match in my oppinion.

What do you expect when your opponent puts 10 men behind? I mean, do you really mean it? What would you do, just shoot from 30 yards with all the defenders in front?

So, we shot 23 times to goal today. Do you really find it boring? What else should we do?

I just don`t get the bendtner love affair ? Did he catch Wenger doin something?!?!? The ref `s red card is clearly barca ppl saying Arsenal are time wasting typical of them. Barca style is pass, pass over the head of defense ,but if a player get close just drop like you been shot ridiculous.

I understood why wenger was going for the defense mode he wanted to get the players ready to burst open in a counter mode which could of worked out if Persie was on when Jack put a peach of a pass in . Barca won and deservingly so, I was shock to see abidal choking persie n nothing given. Everyone wanted Arsenal to win I really hope an English club wins well not spurs :LOL:

I don't know what we would be the alternative. I'm not really blaming Barca for doing anything wrong. I'm not saying you guys are doing something ugly or something along those lines.

I think I already explained myself well enough. Yes you guys had a lot of shots and charges and were very effective like usual.

To me, it feels Barca's style is so focused on holding posession where it becomes too systematic and monotone. Also on a side note, I think most teams end up "defending with 10 men behind" because there's not much else to do against such a gameplan, quod erat demonstradum.

Again, I am not blaming Barca for doing anything wrong, it would be ridicilious for me to ask Barca to change a style which is almost bulletproof.

I guess you can think of what I'm saying like the extreme opposite of Rafa Benitez style football. Where Rafa was so defensive that he kinda destroyed much opportunity for flowing football, Barca is so "offensive" that they also kill the game.
