Arsenal Thread

Ridiculous refereeing indeed. Bendtner's goal stood despite Chamakh's handball as well as another soft pealty being awarded.

I just saw the goals, Pen did look a bit harsh but I only saw it from behind, so it wasn't the best view to make a valid decision on it.

Missed the handball, but Schillaci's send off was deserved from what I saw, arguably the last man and he basically did a clothesline on him. Although it could be argued our other defender could have come across, so Schillaci wasn't the last man, but that's being a bit picky.

What is it with us and struggling against lower league opposition?! really a worry.

arshin missed his chances causing us to use the bench, poor bloke! I hope he comes out of it soon .Jack is 19 he should play every game at his age.

You've got to be careful about players at around that age. Playing them in every game could lead to physical and/or mental burnout.

@ Abou ...Cheers! I didnt` know that... Is that what happen to Denilson ? He was playing a lot last season too. He looks so out of tune getting pushed off the ball way too easy, No fight in him.

No, denilson has always been shit.

Anelka played lots of games with arsenal when he was 19-20. still going strong till this day with chelsea.

it happens on some players, not all but denilson has never been good imo.

tbh wilshere is getting a lot of games because of two reasons. diaby and denilson are shit and ramsey had his leg broken.

Ramsey was the one playing wilshere's role last season and did fantastic

I think the season before last, where he started nearly all your Premiership games, might have been a bigger factor. Apparently, he touched the ball more times than any other Premier League player in that season.

I think the phrase "there's no fight in him" pretty much sums him up.
Yesterday, when he supposedly catched a hamstring injury, he simply gave up on the ball in a dangerous zone, where he could cross anyway or at least try to get a corner.

I was at the match against Everton last season where he fell to the ground out of nothing, giving away a counter attack that almost saw the opposition scoring. I was one out of thousands hurling abuse at Denilson.

He doesn't have the spirit of a warrior inside him, far from that. He chickens out and gives up easily.

Not good enough for Arsenal. And don't even get me started on Diabolical.

This is awesome, especially given yesterday's mentalness:
Arsenal
In: Ryo Miyaichi (Chukyodai Chuyko High School, Undisclosed).

Hehehehe.

(I'm a United fan, so just as jealous of all the spending)

Wow, so Wenger ended up signing him? Wasn't this kid the one who was trialing with Arsenal and Ajax, but got his leg broken in an Ajax friendly?

Anyway, good luck to him!

Well it would be ironically if a turns out to be a better player than the high profile transfers...but of course he will be injury prone (like all the players Wenger buys, i'm exagerating but you know what i want to say).

Squillaci is only banned for one game and despite the fact he is prone to cocking things up in true Wenger defensive fashion, it's hardly logical to buy another player on that basis alone

Vermaelen returns to fitness by end of this month meaning he can still (all being well) contribute to the remaining 3rd of the season. Koscielny has failed to impress but that merely runs true to Wengers philosophy of 'defense' ;)

The one shining light (for now) is Didgeridjourou who's actually looking semi decent (meaning no doubt he'll go and give away a penalty tonight)

So in the next month (after our annihilation [-]by[/-] of Barcelona I concede), we'll have 4 highly [-]dubious[/-] professional centre backs to choose from. If all else fails [-]at least we won the Carling Cup[/-]! we can throw Song in there

i had a dream last night how we was 2:0 in the first half with our first goal being some blooming blinder of a goal and then second half wilshere made a terrible mistake in our own box and djurough was too slow to react and messi slotted hom which was basically a pass to him from wilsher.

we then ended up losing the game 3:2. messi scored another and iniesta scored one.

In all fairness to Koscielny, he's doing a lot better now. Him and Djourou look good together, until Vermaelen comes back.
As for Squillaci, he is a backup, nothing more. We know he can do better than that, but this period of the season is too important to gamble.

well that was fucking tense. i was starting to see on of those arsenal matches developing when it's all hopeless. great proof of character for arsenal overall.
but the defense is really awful. djourou and kos are doing very well for the current situation, but the inability to clear simple crosses or attacks is ridiculous and already pathological for this team.

and how about arshavin, the lethargic?! it's actually good to have players that even though aren't in the best form can produce some moments that win games.

i read people arguing whom should leave. to be fair, rosicky is the closest to departure. he doesn't look like regaining his form, he's 30 or so and it's been way too long of a wait. i am so sorry for him. but his arsenal career, IMO, is running short.

arshavin changed the course. and i'm glad because he really tried in the last matches he played.

The crosses at the end? You're being either ridiculously demanding or believing too much the stupid pundits. Every single team has problems with crosses, try to watch some EPL games and you'll see most teams suffering to defend high balls from throw ins and corners.

Had Arsenal allowed those two goals from corners against Blackpool it'd be hell on earth, but it was United and they are known for their solid defence (which has only conceded TWO less goals than us).

Our defence let ZERO goals in January. What kept us from another clean sheet today was one of the biggest robberies ever. Koscielny hasn't put a foot wrong since the penalty against Wigan (N'zogbia dive), I'd say he's having a better debut season than Vermaelen, but it's too early.

I wouldn't say as good a debut as Vermaelen's, because our Belgian hero simply looked like a striker last season :D
But, yes, Koscielny is doing great! When all our CBs are back, I think we will have 2 pairs of really good CBs, something that hasn't happened in a long time.

Today the team showed great character and spirit, being ripped off like that and still making such a come back.

Diaby once again was below par. Ok, he had to sub for Song, I'll cut him some slack for being improvised there, but all the symptoms of his mediocre displays are all there: an abysmal first touch, an ability to turn simple things into complicated, and beautiful and promising build-ups ending in hideous finishing.

Oh, and I'm starting to like our young Sczezny more and more :)

notice how we aren't missing almunia at all. :) Fabianski and Sczezny provided the confidence that our defence needed.
about the defence: my point is that it's fragile. maybe i'm too drastic, but the two need to learn to not turn easy balls into worse. yes, Koscenly and Djourou have preformed over what anybody expected. their pace and agility might be at hand against barca but who knows.
there is a big improvement on our team this season. when it really mattered more than often they produced. the defence kept it safe on important moments, the attack scored when it mattered. and the mentality is much better than previous season.

This post is not for the paranoid  Rumors about Cecs not being captain material. Denilson no doubt let it slip and now I tend to believe it or mindset has changed.

1. Cecs lately has been very over the top (abnormally) getting in refs faces , making his presence known on the pitch (bad tackles) yelling at players or motivating them whatever have you (shouting at Arshavin to chase down players)not scoring gols like he did before (off the mark ) Im not gripping just noticing the changes of his normal self if we improve on it . Hell yeah all day ...

2. I remember Ronnie before he left MUTD he was throwing his dumpy out , even his boots  being a lil` twat before he left . In hind sight we know his head was turned. If we get a trophy or 2 I feel cesc will be off.

In other news :Arsene Wenger has persuaded midfielder Samir Nasri to agree a new deal with the club just a day after the closure of the January transfer window, with the French playmaker ready to sign a five-year deal worth £75,000-per-week.
said to be around £19.5m avIt!!!!!

60m? That's peanuts for a playmaker of Fabregas's quality. If Carroll is worth 35m then Fabregas is worth at least three times that price.

o for fucksakes. fabianski is out for the rest of the season. fuck now where stuck with almunia as i can see wenger playing him instead of shzelzy or whatever his name is.

where fucked. another season without a trophy.
