Arsenal Thread

Vermaelen is the new Djourou. Or the new Rosicky. :(

His injury doesn't seem too serious but he's not recovering EVER. Someone in the medical department or physios must be cocking up the whole rehabilitation process, that's the only explanation! This is not normal, you don't see it in other clubs.

And to think that The Verminator was in the peak of his form. Hope it doesn't take him too long to be fit again once he does recover.

Oh come jonney, don't act like a fanatic prick, we all now you try to be like one, but you are too nice to be like that...

And now ladies and gentlemen: ON-TOPIC.

About Vermaelen:
I read in a Belgian paper that he needs surgery but that his doctors are fairly confident that can play a month after surgery...not that bad ...

Ps: i totally agree with Klashmann on CR (OOPS!!!)

lol how am i? the previous page is littered with ronaldo vs messi vs my grandma arguments.

you should carry on the convo in the united or barcelona thread :)

totally sorry for the off topic guys: i heard that the arsenal have an away game against ipswich town in the carling cup. how odd is that?
back on topic: the martians are really going to conquer the sepultura galaxy this week. what do you think?

Sepultura, I used to like this band.

On another rather off-topic note, Arsène Wenger was named world's coach of the decade! How come we don't have comments here? :P

That is a well deserved nomination (jonney will not agree).
Most influential coach ever in English football, completely changed the way players behave (diet, training, the way the game is played) and changed Arsenal as a club.

nobody comments because didn`t want the usual suspect saying Wenger hasn`t won nothing he deserves f`all . So, it`s better it was left alone tbh. No special dig at anyone , just a lil embarrassing when jumbo is the only one who calms him down :P

Wenger 1.
Fergie 2.
Mourinho 7.

They could have easily won by more than one goal, if Priskin and co. hadn't been so wasteful.

Very impressive performance by The Tractor Boys.

Oh well looks like we might fuck it up

Surely we should have enough when we play them at home? but who knows with this Arsenal team.

Players like Denilson and Arshavin look like they need to be shipped out, just no desire and lacking in alot of things.

Very dissapointing and if we fuck up the Carling cup, then it really is a big fuck up as we are clear favourites to win it. Some one needs to give some of our players a big slap in the chops!!

To be fair its ridiculous for him to have won it :DD

Who should have won it? Of yes of course: Ferguson.
Well if you look at silverware then he should deserve to be called the best manager.

Problem is that the man is such a prick. Ferguson junior gets sacked by Preston North End and Richie De Laet and another loanee are recalled to Manchester.

More rationally. Wenger did more than win trophies. Everyone who looks a litle bit further than his own team can see this. I pointed it out in my previous post. One could argue that if Wenger would never have gone to Arsenal English football would still be about the long ball forward. Of course that is bullshit, there would have been other revolutionaries. But it happens that it was Wenger who changed it all. To me football is about more than "just" trophies. Football is entertainment, creativity, beauty...i stopped being a Man Utd fan for several reasons. One of the reasons (but not the main one) was that Man Utd rarely play attractive football...they are one of the best counter teams in the world (if not the best) and some of there counters are breathtakingly beautifull...but that is not the kind of football that i want to see. On top of that Man Utd sometimes (especially in Europe) very cynical whereas Arsenal are always positive. Their passing game is the second best in the world.

Jesus i should stop...i consider myself a Spurs fan...

mourinho came third.

...cough, cough... i know a bunch of kids wearing a pink shirt who might have to disagree with u on that last statement Gerd :P

probably because the organization wich came up with this "award" is the iffhs, wich is known for making up the most ridiculous rankings and awards. :P

not trying to take anything away from arsene though. great coach, i got huge respect for him... also coz i got huge admiration for his "maestro", zeman... who (and i only discovered this a few months ago) happened to be not only arsene's main inspiration, but also palermo's coach (delio rossi) "teacher" :))

indeed.

The thing is Wenger has had the sucess on a very limited budget. He's had to sell a lot of his top players, and hasn't been able to spend massive money on replacements.

The cost of the new stadium has meant Wenger's had to operate with one hand tied behind his back.

...wich is why i said i'm not trying to take anything away from wenger, who i consider one of the very best coaches out there today :))
i was merely pointing out that iffhs hasn't exactly a great reputation when it comes to rankings.

speaking of emirates stadium, do u guys happen to know how much the whole thing (the project and the construction) costed? :))

Around £400 million. But Arsenal tried to offset the cost by keeping the land at Highbury and converting it into delux flats, it seemed like a good idea in the early 2000s but with the property slump of 2007-8 I don't think it ended up generating as much as they envisaged.

Calm down Gerd, some might think you have some irrational hate for United and SAF ;))

I think SAF deserved it more than Wenger but I doubt either probably deserved it compared to Mourinho

I agree with Zio, IFFHS is ridiculous. But that said, I agree with Gerd: Wenger has been the most influential coach in the last 10 years. He changed english football and did it in a club that was not amongst the big ones.

To me the most important coaches of the last 40 years are Rinus Michels, Arrigo Sacchi, Cruyff and Wenger. I don't rate SAF as high because of his attittude and the fact he plays a style of football I don't like too much, though he has done a fantastic job at Manchester and he's a legend.

thanks for the info mate :))

Well, I know some will blame and call me Mou fan boy but ok: I my opinion Mourinho is the coach of the decade - 10 years, 17 titles. Besides, he completally changed the relation between media and managers.

Special _One he goes to clubs that offer him a purse , then leaves them or get sacked. Changing the relation between media n managers? mmmm ...interesting he`s known to disrespect refs, players, coaches n fans. ;)
