Arsenal Thread

Well, I think Wenger`s selection was wrong... it`s important to maintain that form from the chelsea win. Now, it`s gone...back to square 1 . Spurs won 2 games(B2B) w/ 10 men their in the zone form.

If Van persie can`t play a game back 2 back then sell `em. At this rate his form won`t get there until he plays friendlies for the Dutch in the SUMMER!

REfs are destroying games I know it`s easy to blame ref blah ,blah ,but allowing hand balls to deflect or pass to make the difference is bullox blatantly is taking the piss.

@ gerd one day mate Vermaelen will say " Gerd ,You`re gonna love Me

Great away win :DD

Need to win as many as humanly possible now. Spurs and Man City don't look like they are going to drop many points aswell. So we need to keep it up!

Bowyer made some horrible challenges..should have got a red card.
Man utd were extremely lucky again. Neville should have been sent off and WBA should have got a first half penalty (but if you see how Odemwingie missed the one in the second half...).

Arsenal missed an awfull lot of chances...but this was a great away victory against a difficult team. I hope this Birmingham team gets relegated.

Bowyer did against us too Gerd and only got booked. If he'd been off he wouldn't have been there to score the already contentious goal that he did.

And WBA were 'lucky' too, they should have had a penalty given against them too for a blatant handball so it evens out.

I hope Birmingham get relegated too, they weren't so bad last season but now they don't even try to play football but they are very hard to beat when they're at home usually which is why this is such a good result for Arsenal. That was only the 4th home defeat in since last season.

I have seen the blatant hands in the WBA match jumbo.
That would all have been academic if Neville would have got the red card he deserved. United were bad and were rescued by the ref. Of course one might argue that WBA defeated themselves by missing that penalty. That's the difference between a good team and a top team like United. Somehow United wins matches when tehy are bad (and mostly that has nothing to do with the refs' decisions).

I watched the match against Birmingham and you played very nice football. Cesc shined in the midfield as usual. I think Van Persie is still far away from his peak, let's hope injuries haven't diminished his capabilities.

Nasri seems to be playing quite well lately, but I don't know if he overlaps with Cesc too much. They are both the same kind of player.

Do you think Cesc should play a little behind and let Nasri as a AMF? Or am I missing it completely?

I'd only have one or the other. Nasri is good enough to play Cesc's role, but how could you put Cesc on the bench? That is a tough one, but I'll settle with Nasri on the wing; he is still a threat. At least more than Arshavin, anyway.

Cesc has vision n reads the game like no other in Arsenal. Nasri doesn`t have the brain of Cesc, but his ability to get into the box passing players n finishing, like no other in Arsenal. When Ronnie went to barca he was instrumental how everyone played. Cesc is the same I notice other players in the mid do that turn ,hold the ball and look for a killer pass(like a painter looking at his canvas).

When , Cesc leave he would produce a few players that will emulate his performance. Nasri will be everything Cesc will regret if he`s not as influential at Barca. I can see Nasri playing at the Arsenal longer ,then leave back to Marseille and finish his career. Fab will always be looked at as a Legend (he needs to lift the drought)

I think Yesterday showed they can play together on the same team. They link up very well together. They are similar in alot of respects, but different enough to compliment eachother nicely imo.

I do think if Fab leaves for Barca in the summer then Nasri will be the natural person to fill the void.

But Fab is unique and it will be very hard to replace him :((

Anyone know if the Portugal v Argentina match at the Emirates next month is still going ahead ? I went to get my colleague to buy tickets for it (he's a member and so should have been able to get them today), but apparently its now saying:

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the sale of this fixture has been postponed until further notice" - venue change maybe ?

Why does Hleb has no shame?
He left Arsenal for a better team and it didn't work out like he wanted it to be.
It's only natural that he wants to go back to the team where he had his best team (just like it was natural to go to a bigger club Barcelona).

Now it seems Birmingham fans are infuriated with him. Why? I really don't get (most) English fans. It's in the human nature wanting to advance and searching the best possible job. There is nothing to feel betrayed about.

I don't see why Hleb should be shameless. If i'm not mistaken he always was good with Arsenal.

It's al stupid tribalism. You can love a football club, but don't exagerate. Ask yourself what you would do if it was you and an ordinary job (i.e. not football)...99% of the fans who are indignated would do exactly the same thing as those players.

To me it`s like dating a bird ,but then you leave her for another better looking one. Then , realize she never fancied ya. The true one you left and she has a new love.

Who cares about the fans(birm) really...it`s funny he wanted out and even he said he can`t talk to Wenger the same knowing what he`s done. Wenger doesn`t need him so begging just makes you look pathetic in-front of your new employer.

Imagine Hleb coming back every Arsenal player will think , maybe I could leave and come back if things don`t work out

Gerd how many ppl you know feel the exact same as you do? you are unique :))

Sounds like it's been postponed until further notice.

I`m not sure... but I heard a thief say everyone steals so he rather take it before they do. Point is brother not everyone is everyone.

I would hope My son would Not chase money...lose your soul to gain the world. Hleb learn his lesson and hopefully he will teach others the same I could only hope. :))

Because he made pathetic excuses and silly comments when leaving Arsenal saying London was too noisy despite every player living just outside london in the Huge mansions up in London Colney

and made terrible comments about Cesc, saying he was too selfish!

He's a good player but highly, highly frustrating!

I think the whole Hleb interview is purposely skewed. He says Ces is his best friend at Arsenal. Not his best friend period. But you can see the reporter at the end trying to make it sound like 'Pathetic Hleb trying to make it seem like Cesc is his best friend in the world. This loser will try anything to come back to Arsenal!'

Secondly, I dont see where he begs Wenger to take him back, except the part where he says it jokingly. Apart from that, it is just him saying he made a bad decision and has to bear the consequences now. But where ever I saw this in the media, it was as if Hleb was begging Wenger witb tears to take him back.

It is really clear for me by the end where Hleb says you better put an Arsenal jersey there. They clearly told him to say that to fit the agenda of the story 'Sorry Hleb suffering because of his bad decision and dying to come back.'

I love mid-week matches I have a feeling Mancini`s brawlers will play for a draw .

To be fair, in their position that's a good result for City. Especially with no Silva, who has been very good for them.

Still, hope Arsenal win convincingly to put City back in their place...outside the top 4.

I know what you mean City reaching 4th spot. They will buy just so no one will have then loan them out

Why?
You want an eternal status quo with always the same teams in the top 4?

Booooo-ring.

If he's the same as me then Ryan would be fine if Spurs, Everton or Villa (to name 3) finished in the top 4 rather than City. Teams who have slowly built up over the years seem more deserving.

If I was a Birmingham city fan I would be pissed off with Hleb to be honest. Being a football player isn't just any old job and anyway if you were working for a company and then spouted off that other companies were better and how much you want to work for them, then wouldn't the company that is employing you be pissed off? of course they would.

He said he was 100% happy at Arsenal, but I remember him pissing and moaning at the time.

Anyway it's all water under the bridge, I actually love the video as it will give other players alot to think about before they leave Arsenal....hopefully :DD

I wasan't angry with Hleb when he left, just dissapointed. He was looking like a good player for us. Shame players like him and Adebayor got above their stations (more so Adebayor) a bit, as if they had stayed with us, themselves and Arsenal would probably have been much better off.

Oh well onwards and upwards! COME ON ARSENAL!!!
