Arsenal Thread

Damn, those postponements are not good for the league. The calendar is frantic already as it is... Now here's another match to be squeezed somewhere midweek.
AW must be fuming with this decision.

Apart from these - Barclays, Nike, Emirates, Sky Sports,
what are the most used adboards at Arsenal home games?
I just need four more if anyone can help?

Geez, if Barca performs the same as they did against Almeria, Real, and Espanyol I would be very worried as a gooner. We'll be lucky to get out with 3 goal advantage in the aggregate score.

Arsenal are better that Almeria and Espanyol.
I also think that Arsenal (as a team) are better than Real Madrid. I'm not really impressed by Real Madrid.

But can Arsenal really defend as a team with Song deserting his holding role several times in a match? Clichy has been a liability on the left side for as long as I can remember, and you know he's going to have a horrid time defending against the best players in the world. It's too early to make any decisions since the first leg hasn't even been played, but you can already identify the weak points in Arsenal's defense.

To defend against us you have to do like Bilbao, putting 9 men in the area, do a lot of deffending helps and practically refuse to attack. Frankly, I don't see (and I don't want to see) Arsenal doing this, so the best strategy, in my oppinion, is to be brave and try to attack us. We suffer a lot when we defend inside our half, so you have to put a lot of pressure up and stop the match too often. I think you're better with Nasri, Cesc, Bendtner, Walcott and Chamakh all together in the pitch. Aerial play is a real weakness we have. Chamakh could hurt us a lot.

So, in short: as you're not that good defending and you don't know how to defend with 9 men inside the area, don't do it! Attack us!

Chamakh can't use his head unless a decent cross comes in the box, and we've already seen this season how great Clichy and Sagna are at crossing the ball. And by that I mean they're not. I don't expect Arshavin or Walcott to be teeing up the big striker either.

Arsenal as a team don't defend as a unit, Will be a convincing win over two legs for you lot.

I hate to be cynical about our defense but we lack conviction in defense. The poor clearing header by Squillaci for Nani's shot comes to mind.

Positive mental attitude lads!

If we all think we are going to win and hone our thoughts into a big cloud of positiveness, we will win!

It's going to be a walk in the park :DD

Of course we're gonna be rooting for our Arsenal Bob, let me repeat that we're not going down without a fight. I really hope Squillaci brings his Messi-sized fishnet, cos that's the only way we're gonna catch the little bugger.

EDIT:
Arsenal confirm Thomas Vermaelen will be out until the end of January
• Centre-back's achilles injury will need four more weeks to heal
• Lukasz Fabianski and Abou Diaby return to fitness

Wenger, PLEASE keep our squad healthy, we really need everyone to be fit for Barcelona. Flappy hands too.

yeah agree Bob ! it seems like every fan wants to rant on. All I want for Christmas is a big Trophy :BOP:

If that was a poke at me beboq I want that victory just as much as the next gooner. Even if Messi scores 10 goals I'll still be supporting my team, it'll just be really hard to ignore if Barca plays a great game, and we know they're more than capable.

it wasn`t a dig brother! We all ranted about it a few days back...look back and you`ll see your post was mildly put. Merry Christmas everyone to all Football supporters even to the mugs out there.

Merry Christmas to everybody too! :))

If I was Wenger:WORSHIP: I'd not be scared of Barca. A tight back four, five watertight defensively minded mids to plug the gaps and Chamakh making a meal of himself to Puyol and Pique as the lone target man (Barca are vunerable to aerial prowess). Hit 'em on the break, but stay resolute defensively. And we need walcott searing down the wings. Cesc to unpick the gaps to release him and Chamakh. My formation would be:

4-1-2-1-1

Almunia
Sagna
Squllaci--Koscielny
Clichy
Song--Wilshire
Walcott
Nasri
Fábregas

Chamakh

:LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO:

I would probably put Gibbs in at LM to help Clichy deal with Alves' running from deep.

Valencia did it with Alba and Mathieu and were narrowly beaten, while Hércules did it with Peña and Drenthe and beat them.

The relative space in between the full backs/wingers and the central players is about right for Arsenal :P

Barca will have a field day.

Barca will look to exploit the gaps in my formation. Arseal will be overrun :SHAKE:

Aboutreika18, Clichy won't stay with Alves. He'll probably be bombing forward + out of position. It's in his nature.

After yesterdays results we definately need some points tonight.

Hopefully the lads don't let us down.

COME ON ARSENAL!!

Yee Haa!! Lovely stuff. Need to see how we play in the next few games though now, that is the real test, to see if our players don't get cocky and think they are the bollocks now.

hopefully it gives us the belief and the lift we need to make a real go to win the Premiership.
