Arsenal Thread

We play them at home so doubt we will win

I can see a long throw into our box , hit our player to slip in our net. We having 20 shots at goal. Chels wins 2-0 and take flight w/ Lampard n Terry back full strength. Ready to visit the Emirates... I by the way w`d love Cahil anyone feels the same? I was watching an old interview w/ Wenger he was a sweeper growing up :CONFUSE: I guess he was clueless then too!

Congrats to Nasri best Frenchie of the Year!

Well thats arsenal's champions league campaign finish this season.

Arsenal should just forfit. save embarrassing the club

Last year you could have 4-2 up with 2 away goals after about 10 mins of the match in the Nou Camp. I agree that FC Barcelona are favourites to win at the moment, but it's not a totally forgone conclusion.

If you defend well you can win the tie. You have an amazing midfield and a very good attack but I don't trust in you defence ability, maybe you should adapt you philosophy in the 2nd leg.

I didn't like this, I love Barcelona of course, but Arsenal is my secondth team, so I don't like them corssing their paths so early in the championship.

Let's hope we watch great football and everybody is fit for both matches. We are favourites, but that doesn't mean a thing. Arsenal is more than capable of beating us in 2 matches, maybe one of the few teams that really can play to us face to face.

If we do have our full squad then we have a good chance.

But if we play like we did against Man United and they play like they did against Real Madrid, we are fucked!

Fuck it bring it on, this is what it's all about :DD

That's what happens when you don't take the group stages too seriously and let bloody Shakhtar Donetsky finish first in your group. That's Instant Karma

Even if we're not ravagged by injuries by then and have our best players, I don't see them boys pulling that one off. Sorry guys, for being so negative, but most likely we're gonna be sodomized once again by Barca. That same old story: most teams - some more powerful than Arsenal - change their tactics to face Barca, close them down and even resource to less orthodox approaches (Mourinho-esque). But Wenger will try to take them on as if they were Wolverhampton. We know how it ends.

Wenger calls Barca the PS3 team ...and how can you defend against that sort . I saw the Real Sociedad game and they defend very tight and still managed a 5 goal mauling .Wenger the spin doctor "they did not want us either" lol . My guess is Theo can cause some limit damage on the wing. I love Arsenal with all my heart ,but if we are honest here Arsenal is the ugly sister to Barca.

:D :P

like i said, where fucked. we aint beating them. where more likely to win the lottery tomorrow then to see arsenal beat barcelona over two legs.

Its not going to happen. it wont even be a close encounter. Messi wont even break a sweat. infact, barcelona might even give him the night off!

i think bara's B team could still beat our strongest squad.

Jhonney your being a little harsh... we gave them a fight during the first leg and got owned by messi during the second...if we manage to keep ourself steady at the back and have fab and RVP fit we def have a chance...barca have many flaws that a team like us can take advantage of...their backline is very open and with the passing ability our team possess we, unlike (Real madrid or any other team in the world) can work the ball up the field and break on a counter against a team like barca. So if we able to not concede within the first 25min, we have a chance.

It looks as if Arsenal have no chance against Barcelona, but a match always has to be played...don't you think a player like Cesc Fabregas will be extremely motivated?

Of course we have a chance, we scored 3 against them over the two legs before. It's all about the away leg, we can definately get a result at home imo, just need to sort ourselves out away.

We do have a stronger squad than last time, so it all depends on them mentally. Going by our last big game though, it does look ominous.

I can't wait though, these games are the reason the champions league is so great :DD

If you learn the lessons from last season you might be able to scrape through. You can't defend as naively as you did then though. If you can get a win at home (like Inter did against them) and then somehow manage to shut them out at the Camp Nou then that's the only way IMO. If you go there thinking you can play them at their own game and beat them then I think it'll be a similar story to last time and you'll get thrashed. Barca's passing, movement and pressing is just too much for Arsenal (and most teams) the way you usually play.

Barca's pressing is jsut out of this world (along with their passing and movement :PP )

They can do it for 90mins it's ridiculous, somebody should drug test them all...it's not normal.

Well, according to official statistics, Barcelona lpayers run a 10% less ditance than the rest of teams in La Liga. That means our pressure is good because we know where to go and place people, not by sheer muscular prowness. That's what makes us great, the brains and skill. So don't try to put the drug shadow above us, please!

About the clash, I think Arsenal shoudl change their strategy. Walcott is a MUST against us, but also you need to play with very very narrow lines and double defend Messi and Xavi all the time, and hope fot the rest of the players to have a bad night.

Still, injuries may occur, and if we loose Messi or Xavi, I think we're no longer favorites anymore. It's closer than what people thinks and the first match at London will be very important for the outcome. Contrary to what people think, I predict a very close match at both stadiums.

I should have put a wink ;)) next to the drugs bit...I was just pointing out how good they are. I'm sure it is everything to do with the way you pressure and not just running around like headless chickens.

By the way where do you get your statistical info from? be good to see so I can have a look?

That specific statistic was on the newspapers the day after the Classico, but there's people with accounts to a website that displays this kind of statistics, on a depth level you wouldn't believe!

Someone please can the link to it? I just can't remember the name right now!

By the way, I get you were not being serious with that about drugs, but was a great excuse to point out things that most people won't take into account. Xavi and Iniesta are getting great defenders positionally. Sometimes people forget the play without the ball. To me that's right now the big difference between us and other big teams like Arsenal. We're the best without the ball. Simple as that. And as long as this continues, that makes it bloody easy to be the best with the ball.

That's why against Arsenal it's a tough challenge. Madrid is a pile of crap defending positionally, they're not used to be pressured at all, that's why at the Classico they didn't even know what was happening. But Arsenal plays a lot like us, and if you're fit you're the kind of team that can hurt us if you get through or first line pressure.
