Arsenal Thread

Am i right in saying the last time we beat Chelsea was when Van Persie played? Just that this sit back and counter tactic Chelsea have been using against us int he last 3 matches, there's no way they would even think of trying that shit if Van Persie was upfront!

YouTube - Van Persie Vs Chelsea 08/09

He scored those half chances, Arshavin, Bendtner, Nasri and Chamakh miss :)

Whatever!

Whatever!

EDIT: Did anybody see Wilshere's tackle? it sounds bad (I haven't seen it).

Clumsy ,but nothing dirty...Eboue`s tackle was much worse . Jack played a very good game until that no needed tackle wasn`t even attacking to goal. Oh well, best youth player in the PL imo. Chamakh was a 50/50 pen. a slight contact, funny bit was the 2nd goal he stood on his feet and scored.

Another Chamakh dive, another Arsenal penalty.

Just saw the incident and it was a pen. Birmingham player touched him, the replays showed that. He may have made the most of it, but it was still a pen.

The birmingham player saying he didn't touch him, but from the replay it looks like he touched him? why did the birmingham player lunge forward like that? it was his mistake, he should say how stupid he was for lunging at Chamakh, rather than call chamakh a liar.

Anyway, seemed like we played well today, just suspect at the back as usual.

Wilshere was a definate red and a stupid challenge.

There looked like minimal contact, if any, surely not enough for him to flop over. What is clear is that he was already going down before Dann got near him, it even looked like Chamakh ended up diving over his foot, such was his desperation to simulate.

With Chamakh though, and his history of "going down easy", which he did on countless occasions at Bordeaux (the one against Bayern in the CL last season comes to mind), it's no surprise to see him carrying on this facet of his game in England.

Won't take refs long to catch on and he'll probably suffer like Ronaldo and others have when he'll have incidents where he's clearly fouled but his reputation will precede him and he'll get booked for "simulation".

Or he might end up above the law like Gerrard and produce a homage to the "Starfish".

like Gerrard...Rooney...or Owen :DD

He did a dive earlier in the game, I hope he doesn't dive around alot. I wasn't aware of his previous.

But I still think that was a pen. I still think it is shitty of the birmingham player to act like he was totally innocent and basically call Chamakh a liar, when it looked like there was contact and he lunged at Chamakh in the area. He should be clever enough not to lunge at a player, no where near the ball in the area.

Anyway its over with now. Man City next week, which we have to come back with some points. We got lucky today with Man United and Chelsea Drawing.

The penalty was a penalty without a doubt. Yes, Chamakh WAS going down to look for the foul. However the defender had his foot out and the contact was nowhere near the ball. Basically, he took the bait. If he didn't take it then Chamakh would have received a yellow for diving. In conclusion, there was contact, therefore it was a penalty and it nullifies the dive.

I'm so glad for the win. I didn't get to watch the match since it came on early over here. I did watch the highlights and saw that we showed moments of brilliance. Really potent attack. But it seems we couldn't spread it out for a consistent portion of the game.

And Jack Wilshere is beyond fantastic.

Yeah Chamakh certainly made the most of it and made it look more dramatic but it was a penalty and the defender was nowhere near the ball. Very stupid challenge in his own area and he has the audacity to try to blame the striker? He gave him all the reason to.

And a DEFINITE red-card for Wilshere on that horrible tackle. No question about it! Poor Zigic who finally seems to get going in EPL could've been SERIOUSLY hurt!! If Arsenal were on the receiving end of that, Wenger would be whining forever and fans would be victimizing their team saying we always get beat up, teams are reckless with us, blah blah blah...

Good player, HORRIBLE tackle which is understandable and happens to us all in heat of game, I'm sure Wenger will have a quiet talk with him and he'll learn from it and get even better, more mature. :)

Yes it was a dive and yes it was a penalty...what a stupid tackle by a good player...

Same goes for Wilshere who had the decency to apologize.

I don't think that is necessarily true. We moan when teams kick us all through the match and bad tackles are thrown about all game or a player breaks our players legs. But one off tackles, that go against the rest of the way their team played, or how the player played etc then I think we would have a bit of a moan like anyother fans, but I don't think we would play the victimised card in that instance?

I can only remember Arsenal fans moaning when certain teams objective is to kick us about and hard challenges are a common occurance.

I read Mcleish's comments and he was mentioning the Eduardo incident etc. If Wenger tried to say it wasn't dangerous or wasn't a red and was defending him, then I could understand the comment.

But mentioning the Eduardo incident, basically implying we should not complain about rough tackles, because our own player did it is stupid imo.

Anyway, it was a horrible challenge and it was dealt with in the right way. I for one would like to see more punishment for dangerous tackles and that obviously goes for Arsenal players. But at the moment hopefully Jack learns from it and moves on and thinks himself and the other player lucky it wasn't alot worse.

Sorry, I probably shouldn't be laughing at this. But you gotta admit it's pretty funny! :D

Brilliant post Edmundo, thanks for sharing.

Bobby, I see your point.

So wrong and so right at the same time. Had to post it on my facebook. Thanks edmundo :)

Any suggestions to where I can keep a tab on Arsenal injuries. I'm curious to see when VP, Fabregas, Walcott, and Vermaelen will return.

Can you imagine 4 key players being out of any other team? Lampard, Terry, Drogba, and Malouda out all at once.

Champagne Football ! Arsenal doing it n doing it well! :APPLAUD: What a performance 7 shots and 5 goals  . Funniest bit was chamakh`s goal he was shocked to receive the ball ,then turns to the ref(surely I`m in offside territory ) , then scores. Jack Wilshire you are my sunshine, My only sunshine you make me happy when sky are grey...

Best bit of business some say Arsenal will struggle vs this brasilian team :SNACK: Eduardo :WORSHIP: Lovely goal !

Shahktar were shocking! Why didn't the keeper try to save Chamakh's goal!? Anyway, you can only beat what's infront of you so fair play - and five different scorers!! :APPLAUD:

I always thought Wilshere looked babyfaced and young but in his interview after the game he looked really different and really terrible!

Oh and two records broken today, Chamakh the first player to score in 6 consecutive CL games and you broke the record for goals scored in the first 3 matches!
