Arsenal Thread

Well played Sol ? That second goal? Two beginner's mistakes.
Why did he have to touch that ball and why protesting instead of staying concentrated?

He was great in the first half, winning almost every tackle.
The goal was Fabianski's mistake and nothing else, he just had
to slam the ball on the tribune.
In my opinion Sol made well for a CL match after a long time with
35 years ;)

At the end of the day we were the better team. They got two lucky goals.

we will beat them at ours (hopefully) so all will be well with the world :DD

The ref was a dick for the second goal at the end of the day (I don't care if it was in the rules)

Fabianski wont play again for us for a while. Its a shame, as I think he has alot of plus points, but he seems to get really nervous. Shame.

No doubt we need a better goalkeeper to lead the back four.

Almunia didn't extended his contract yet, right? As far as I know his contract
ends after this season so maybe we can expect a new keeper but off course
we don't know if Wenger is again not motivated to sign anyone.

sorry but this is karma, how many goals did henry score when the other team wasnt ready. I dont remember wenger complaining then... he is the biggest hypocrite in football

1 goal :PP

I would agree, but there was so many other things wrong with what happened today.

The freekick wasnt taken in the right place. It was in the area, the ref was obstructing our player etc etc.

henry's goal was quite a bit different (From what I can remember?) the fact that it wasn't right in the area is a big one and it was in the place where the foul took place. also the ref clearly indicated to take the free kick.

But remind me what happened, because my memory isn't what it used to be :))

You can't have an indirect free kick, let the other team put the ball down where they want to and kick it straight away in the area. It is a mockery (I don't care if it is in the rules). Ridiculous, they might aswell have taken the ball out of Fabianskis hands and just given the goal straight away.

This Karma shit aswell, I think we have got that by having half of our team out injured for the last two years in a row

About the second goal: it's a litle bit too easy to blame it on the ref.
Two defensive errors (big, big errors).

Like i said often in this thread, Arsenal play the best football in the world but they are like Mae West and sex. Whent they're good, they are the best, but when they are bad...they are awfull. Those two goals yesterday are worse than what i see in the matches of my son's under 7 team...

If you are blaming the ref, you live in a virtual world, with a virtual reality.

Maybe you should've kept Richard Wright and developed him? He looked a very good player at Arsenal when he was younger.

Can't believe Wenger demotes and sidelines Senderos for mistakes against Liverpool in the CL two seasons ago - but consistently plays tweedle-dumb and tweedle-dee in goal.

The keeper must exude confidence in that position and own the box. Both of our keepers seem way short of that, and their nervousness just extends to the rest of the team.

I know a good keeper for Arsenal: Logan Bailly (currently playing for Borussia Monchengladbach).
He's young very talented and on thop of that he has played together with Vermaelen in the Belgian national youth teams.

@IceMan I think it`s more than 1 case w/ back-pocket Senderos and even Lemon was put on ice following a few bad spells. I think his patients w/ (dumb n dumber)has worked against him ,but it`s still early and 2-1 is better than 2-0.

Lots of actions can cause one consequence.

We fucked up big time. No body said it wasn't our fault. But the ref can be blamed for a part in the goal (If the only thing was not getting them to put the ball down, where the actual infringement took place).

He is not completely blameless, so he can be blamed, which I do to some extent and I don't live in a virtual world :DD :PP

But yeah the main reason we lost that game is from 2 fuck ups from the keeper, I do agree with that.

MANONNE now!

He's not the answer of course, it's just a vote of protest here.

Wenger must be questioned for this. How can you rely on goalkeepers like these? It's no fresh news that Fail-bianski is shite! We all knew it long ago and AW never made a move for a GK during the transfer windows.

I don't even care if we beat Porto or not to be honest. Even if we do, a moment of truth will come. We won't be dodging the likes of Barcelona, United or Chelsea forever in the CL. We just don't have what it takes.

I fancy us to go through. 1-0 at home would do it and you don't give two goals away every game (hopefully).

I thought Campbell was great. Rolling back the years with some great tackles and a crucial away goal to boot. Can't really blame him for the second goal, Fabianski should have just belted it. Preferably into Falcao's face.

I feel for Fabianski. These things do happen to young keepers, even the best ones. They all seem to be happening in a row for him at the moment. When he was at Legia Warsaw he was spoken of as one of the brightest talents the country had ever seen. He clearly has talent, personally I think it's bottle, or lack thereof. It's a big ask to play on the biggest stage for a big club and unfortunately, Fabianski hasn't shown that he has what it takes, yet. I wouldn't write him off just yet, but he's got a long way to go.

No Diaby now... That's the whole team now, isn't it? Everyone in our first eleven has been out for at least some time with an injury, some for significant chunks of time. People talk about lack of experience, no proper strikers etc etc but personally I think our appalling injury treatment is our biggest weakness.

I think big clubs just can't take risks with potentially good goalkeepers or ones with lack of experience. I thought Foster would become our number 1 but I just don't see it happening with the amount of mistakes a young goalkeeper makes.

I'm sure Foster can become a very, very good goal keeper, but maybe not for a big club.
I know a very good young and relatively cheap GK for English clubs (come to think of it Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal all need a new keeper the following years. It's more urgent for Arsenal but both other clubs could also do with a good young keeper).

They should buy Logan Bailly from Borussia Mönchengladbach. A very, very big talent. People here in Belgium say that he has the talent to become the best Belgian keeper ever and it the past we had Preudhomme, Pfaff and Piot, all extremely talented keepers.

On top of that Bailly has played for years in the same defense as Vermaelen with Belgian national youth teams...

good result! wasn`t a great performance ,but 3pts nonetheless. I sort of envy Everton`s run beat Chelsea , beat Sporting (Europa) and beat mutd. Well done to them we`re not good enough ,but they are :SMUG:

I would like to see Everton in season with less injuries. Moyes is the best manager of the premiership IMO.

It seems Walcott played a good match yesterday. I sincerely hope he can have a good run untill the end of the season.
