Arsenal Thread

They will need to set up a whole new office with about 20,000 people in to deal with all the diving incidents in Europe. Lots of other countries where diving is the norm and they will have to act on.

I really can't believe what is happening! it takes a dive in a game where the goal wasn't that significant to create all this shit!

There have been much worse dives in much more important games that have all been overlooked! why the fuck go so fucking mental about this one?!! its fucking disgusting!

As I said if it gets rolled out and is used for everybody then fine. But I highly doubt this will happen. They will have to introduce new legislation and carry it through, which takes a while.

So it looks like it will just be a discriminatory thing against Eduardo with no real explanation why he gets punished and no other player?!

It makes them look like amateur bastards, how can people take them seriously?!
Just face it this way, if it was Ronaldo, Gerrard or Drogba, all of us in this thread would be loling hard, saying take that you diving cunt, etc. But it started of with Eduardo (which dived hard, any of the ones i named-like) awful thing to do, this needs to be stopped. If you could add technology (another ref in a separate room watching from every single angle and giving the ref the right judgement based on a replay) they dive, yellow and a recorded video of it = punishment.
Just don't get pissed because it started with arsenal, because that WAS a nasty ridiculous dive.

Well I think his heart is in the right place, he wants rid of diving which is good for the game.

Here are some quotes from Platini yesterday that show things in a slightly different light.
"I know why players do it, I've dived myself. We did it because we knew the referee wouldn't see it and because there were no cameras. However, with our plan to bring in five officials, you will be spotted.

"It was always my dream to dive and get a penalty in the 1982 World Cup semi-final to make up for how Harald Schumacher fouled Patrick Battiston outside the penalty area. If I could have done it, I would because I hate injustice and I wanted to put things right. I just couldn't get into the box to do it."

It's obvious that they are going to find it hard to be consistent, they've already missed dives that have won penalties. You cant just apply it to certain incidents.

I think this is splendid.
If this had started with Ronaldo last year, everybody in this thread would have been jubilant (and rightly so).
Tough luck for Arsenal that they start with Eduardo, but UEFA have to start somewhere. I think Platini is a brillinat UEFA president.

As I said If it is consistant from this day forward it will be fine. I am not angry about that, Eduardo deserves a 2 match ban. But so does every diver and if this happened then great and diving would soon be wiped out.

But just the quickness of it all suggests that it isn't going to be a consistant thing. As to draw up and establish the legislation will take a long time to do and should usually be done before a season starts, so everybody is aware.

Not just suddenly realise that diving is bad and then out of the blue choose a player to punish?! it is fucking shoddy.

So as you say if they start with Eduardo and continue it then fair enough. If they punish Eduardo and then do nothing for other teams and players, then that is discriminatory and I think Arsenal should try and sue them or counter act it somehow, as it goes against all of the regulations set in place.

Lets see what happens.

Answered above. You should read my previous posts :DD

Lots of 'nasty ridiculous' dives that have happened to many other teams including Arsenal which were much more significant in terms of results. You are living in a dream world if you think that is the worst dive you have ever seen?!

Plus its as if eduardo dives week in week out like some players:SNACK:

??? Where did i say that this was one of the worst dives I've seen?..

Of course, the system may not be perfect and there may not be scout in every game searching for dives and people to ban, that would be a good way to go but awkward way to act.
So only "consistent" divers should be warned? Is that what your post means jonneymendoza/Bobbybox? Because that not very smart to say, imo..

This happen to the most likable player who all thought his days were numbered after his leg break. Now, he will probably get booed everywhere now. He has always played w/ dignity in the past so 1 wrong dive is harsh to be label cheat for life. This is not about diving it`s about protecting the UEFA rep. the cunts!!

nah!! worst dive is when Ronaldo made Rooney see red then winked about

Iam an Arsenal fan And I approve the punishment, this need to stop, divin is the PRIMARY reason why our sport get critized so much... player need to act as Man... cause its truely disgraceful.

So when a defender pulls a player's shirt, fouling the player but the ref doesn't see it or thinks it's not a foul.

He deceived the ref

2 match ban!

Yeah Blaccat I agree. If a defender fouls a player and gets away with it, how is that any different to an attacker diving and winning a penalty.

blooming hell. did you see the barca game? ibramavitch dived similar to eduardo and got NOTHING for it!!

i bet uefa the pricks will IGNORE IT!!! DOUBLE FUCKING STANDARDS MATE.

just as i thought. uefa are only signaling out Eduardo, nothing else. i dont expect much if ANY similar diving incidents being dealt with the same way as eduardo.

fucking joke.

i bet uefa would not have done fuck all if celtic diddnt cry about it:THINK::THINK:

The three incidents where diving has been punished have been either against Celtic (Eduardo and Dida) or against Scotland (Mikoliunas).

Oh come on, the Dida one was completely different, involved a fan and some fantastic acting. He didn't deserve to be banned for his erm, simultation, he deserved to be forced to have that clip shown before every match for the rest of his career, on the big screen.

Otherwise carry on :)

I just think its a ridiculous way to go about doing it. If they were going to bring something like this about then do it before a balls been kicked and announce the new policy so everyone knows. We'll have to see but I think they'll ban Eduardo and then we'll see Stevie Me with his Starfish antics on Match of the Day and not a word be's said.

Yea i agree. well in regards to todays game:

Big day today all happening on my birthday

Hoping Arsenal can make my day complete with a win at old trafford!

Eduardo is out (my suspicion is that wenger wants to keep him out of the public eye for a while )

Fabregas is out as well along with nasri, walcott and rosisky.

Whats Manu's injury list like? Van da Sar back in?

That is not what I am saying. I am saying they need to be consistent in banning players that dive from this point onwards.

You're right Bobby but the problem is it will only get picked up in the highest profile, televised matches, for example our match later. If someone dives in Wolves v Hull then I doubt much will happen, infact, I bet even if a United or Arsenal player dived today not much would happen.

haha where is Ade's replacement?

its going to be a long season, RVP the so called big game player looool

Total shite

Well played the real Capo Gallas!!

Also Vermy, Sagna, Song, Denilson even Diaby

Arshavin you fat fuck!

Unlucky indeed. You lot look pretty tidy - though our midfield was anonymous which made it easier.

Great header by Diaby - wtf?!

I'll take the win, but hope it shows Fergie how screwed up our centre of midfield is. Overrun without Fabregas !

gutted we looked sharp throughout the match. We are definitely short a quality player ,but I was impress with the way we played. Mutd were very lucky too and I knew they`ll booed Eduardo the classy fans

Eboue should of been booed tbh, didnt like it when eduardo was booed, but thats the modern fan I suppose

great performance. i am upset with the result but manu was very very lucky.

Arsenals back for never put a foot wrong while we was ahead and our midfield and attacking play troubled united. it took a brilliant save and the bar to save united bacon.

Diaby? stil not sure why his playing but wenger MUST see somethin in training for him to start. i feel sorry for the lad on his own goal. he did well to pick himself up and trouble united. its a shame his finishing was awful.

If arsenal keep putting in a similar performance every week until may, dont be surprised if we are still in it for the title. From what i can see, this was a flukey loss on arsenals part.

a few inches here and there and arsenal would have been 3 goals up but like people say, football can be crual.
