Arsenal Thread

Yup, apparently we're not in the same region as the price requested by Zenit, which i thought was agreed. Arshavin is back on the plane flying out of City airport.

Oh well, what did you expect with all the quips this month. back to mind numbing shite football until we get some of our players back.

Surely they would have known about the price before he flew all the way out here?! Usually when players fly out, a fee has been agreed and they just need to sort out a few last minute things?

Zenit want £15m straight while Arsenal are offering £12m straight and £3m through incentives.

I think Arshavin will sign for Arsenal, and Zenit are just playing hard here and trying to scrape every penny from Arsenal.

Unless Zenit got on the phone to Arshavin and told him to get to the airport ... he's on his way to Liverpool Airport ;)

Anyone else following the BBC's live text?:

1558: This just in from BBC Radio 5 Live's Mike Sewell: "Arsenal and Zenit have agreed a fee and I understand personal terms have also been agreed and Andrei Arshavin is having a medical this afternoon. But there is a but, as Zenit want half of his signing-on fee for signing for Arsenal. That is now the sticking point." Hmm. They've got (weather permitting) 62 minutes to sort it out.

I think it will happen. You get the feeling there really is no way back for him now in St. Petersberg.

It looks like Arsene Wenger makes fun of us. Every week he said that
Arsenal will sign new players in the transfer window and Arshavin is
not the only target and now the transfer window is close and no player
signed in. :BRICK:

Arsene was doubtful about getting Arshavin becuase he is 27. I don't think he was even considering Dacourt.

I know Dacourt is too old (34) but it's a loan. We are lacking holding midfielders and Dacourt could help because he's had experience in the Premier League with Leeds. Also Silvestre isn't exactly a youngster for that matter...

Still waiting on the next plot twist on Arshavin's saga.

With Arshavin coming in and Eduardo getting fit we will be back in buisness. Lets not forget Theo, Fab, and the always injured Rosicky coming back as well.

Just now from Gunnerblog:

"The FA’s Director of Communications, Adrian Bevington, has spoken to the Russian media about the Andrei Arshavin deal:

“Yes, it’s true, the transfer is in doubt. There is a chance it will take us 2-3 days. The odds are 50/50. If the transfer is declared invalid, Arshavin will be returned to Zenit. We can’t rule this out. I don’t think that would be a severe ruling: both clubs had a lot of time to complete it during the window.”

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.
The worst thing about this, almost worse than the potential cancellation of the deal, is the prolonged agony of waiting.
Doubtless this line will soon hit the English press. Should be a whole lot of fun."

I think I might just go lock myself away until Spurs and wait till then to see if we actually get him as this is getting slightly tiresome!
