Arsenal Thread

Everyone's talking about Arshavin as done deal but theres no news whatsoever. In fact, AW keeps saying its not even close.
It's starting to look like we might as well have to carry on without new signings for the rest of the season

Lucky to get a draw tonight.

We really do have a mediocre set of players. Song is rubbish and should never be playing. Denilson, Diaby, Bendtner etc etc

our midfield is shit!!!!!

our passing was shocking today.

Really if Wenger thinks he doesn't need to buy anybody except for Arshavin (Which probably wont happen anyway) then he is living in la la land!!

Unless something special happens - there is no way we are going to get into the top 4 - its so depressing!

Adebayor doesn't look like he gives a shit either.

Only bright light this season is Van Persie and Nasri - apart from that Fuck all!!

Adebayor - On too much money now, looks like he doesn't even care - sell him to the highest bidder, thats if there are any takers.

Diaby, Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner - Sorry boys you are not good enough to wear our shirt. Even if you put in 200% effort it would not be good enough.

Eboue - Just an embarrasment to the name of Arsenal and Herbert Chapman.

Of the current squad these are the players I would retain:

Sagna
Clichy
Djourou
Toure
Walcott
Fab
Nasri
RVP
Eddie
Vela
Wilshere
Rosicky (if fit)
Ramsey
Alumnia (reluctantly)

And thats it!!

14 players and Droopy is only there otherwise we would have no keeper! Last night was the final straw for me, we are going backwards and at a fairly fast pace too. Collectively there is no guile, no spirit, no fight. We look toothless. Too many of our "stars" obviously do not give a shit.

Was it really on 5 years ago we were the invincibles? What a rapid decline....oh for a Pires, a Vieira, a Gilberto, a Henry, a Freddie etc etc

It really is very depressing to be a Gooner at the moment.

so apparently Usmanov paid the extra 2million on Arshavin for us? take it with a grain of salt?
The board would never allow such nonsense

Zenit are just being silly

But Arsene said after the game yesterday that we would 90% what will happen regarding the deal today

Anyhoo, How about that boy Van persie eh?

He is really stepping up, Pls just stay fit RVP

There goes our 4th spot!! We've been ruined this season completely!!!
but i bet you and others will still support wenger and think his the right man for the job

we could get relegated and most of you will still support wenger :D wenger needs to go asap imo. useless peice of shit he has become over recent years and i wished you lot would start seeing that too. we need a new manager. time for a change unless wenger can turn things around this season(the day that happens is the day this recession ends)

cool. good luck with that ;) who do u support more? arsenal or wenger? :D ;)

I support Arsenal of course, Silly Billy. If I thought a better manager could garauntee better results then I would want him to be replaced.

But I don't think there is - so I don't want him to go.

If we don't get into the 4th place and do shit in the FA cup and Champions league and he still keeps saying that our team is good enough with the players we have and doesn't buy anybody. Then my patience might have gone and then I will question if he is sane.

But until then he has my full backing.

Jonney, IMO Wenger has to take on a lot of the blame for the state of the squad BUT the board and club also have to have a long hard look at themselves. The move to Emirates was a bold one but unfortunately the current economic climate is working against us. We cannot sell the Highbury flats which in turn leave us further in debt then we should be at this stage. The club send out messages that Wenger has money to spend, but if you ask me I don't think we have a pot to piss in at the moment.

Bad decisions have been made over the past 2/3 years with regards to players contracts. We were 5k short of agreeing a new deal with Flamini and then lost him but on the other hand paid Gallas exactly what he wanted when he joined cos we were so desperate to get shot of Cashley at the time. Doubling Adebayor's wages now also seems like it has back-fired.

But right now the club are having to do things on the cheap and whilst Wenger has performed miracles in the past he can't do it forever.

Great post mate. Bought a tear to my eye. I was watching the game in a bar in Madrid last night, and i almost threw my steak at the TV when Cahill scored. What the fuck was the idea of putting Gallas straight back in?

We have until midnight on Monday to sign Arshavin and two other players, but by the way we´re going right now, we´ll get none, and fingers crossed and squeaky bum time till May for 4th spot.

As I said back in August; without doubt, the weakest midfield in Wengers career as manger at Arsenal.

Totally agree with the squad you´ve chosen, and the ´fat´ definitely needs to be trimmed, and 4-5 new players need to be bought in over summer.

Wenger has made some mistakes, everyone knows that. But the thing is i dont think anyone else can rectify the mistake that Wenger has done atleast at this stage. He put us in this hole, and IMO only he can get us out. And hes there only till 2011, so hopefully we'll be better by then and then we'll think about some new coach.

Besides, Wenger has done a LOT for Arsenal. He has been the most succesful manager here. We cant just throw him out just becoz of 1 or 2 bad seasons. Let the media and others say anything that we arent winning shit, but we have to be loyal to him!!

Besides, the things he says that our team is young and is for the future and has loads of quality is actually true!! We have one of the best squads for the future. And We should trust him that he'll keep them together for some more coming years, coz we have no choice.

Last week he said that if we spend 150M on an experienced squad and win a cup has no point at all. I mean think about it, doesnt it actually make sense. We are football fans and not Money fans. If all clubs start spending 150M and just have the Real Madrid mentality(of having all the best players in 1 squad), it doesnt make sense at all, and Football will just remain a business involving money only. We could instead start following LSE or NYSE instead EPL or other leagues.

All i'm saying is Removing Wenger is not the solution to our problem. We might not win something this season also, but we shouldnt lose hope. We have a bright future and i'm sure we will be on the right path soon enough!!

United went a couple of seasons without winning anything. It happens to all teams. Wenger will get it right again. He just needs to add a bit of experience to the squad.

look at the top teams, they have all spent loads of cash on players so ist too late to say that because that is what football is now. a money making scheme. the richest team tends to win things. look at chelsea. who where they before they won the lottery? spurs are and still remain a bigger club then chelsea in terms of how many trophies spurs have won in total the last time i checked or am i wrong?

either way, chelsea where nowhere near a big club like arsenal. At the end of the day wenger has done a fantastic job in the past but at present it looks as if he is messing up big time.

you guys are right, we cant expect to win things all the time but we have nto won a single thing for 4 years now and we have only competed on a few occasions againts the top teams. wenger needs to ditch his stupid policy and spend the fucking money. if ashavin is 20m, go and cough up 20m. stop being a tight old git and start buying players. denislon, bender, diaby etc are all peices of shit that cant kick a ball even if they tried.

the reason is they have NO1 to look up to. when henry first came into our team he had berkghamp to look up to. when toure and clichy first came into the scene, they had the likes of sol cambell and ashley cole(dont hate, he was a great LB for us) to look up to.

Heck, when fabregas came in, he had viera to look up to. now who does our latest youngsters look up to now?

thats why denilson and co will never reach there full potential, because they have no1 to look up to. you need a mix between experience and youth to create a succesful team.

even in the real world you need a team constructed of youth and old. go try and create a business and recruit all your staff that have little to no experience and watch your business go to tits because of it

United went a couple of seasons without winning anything. It happens to all teams. Wenger will get it right again. He just needs to add a bit of experience to the squad.

Yeh in the 80's not recently though, That "blip" was extremely hyped by the media and our CL failure, we went one season without a trophy.

Five points behind Villa! It's really starting to look as if we're in for a nightmarish season indeed.

For all he's done to Arsenal I'm not against Wenger YET. But he has to rethink his management style. His 'socialist driven football management mentality' (in the words of Noel Gallagher) is beginning to take its toll. Money talks! And whats the use of nurturing young talents if they're bound to leave us the next day? The way things are going I don't see Fab, Ramsey and Walcott as a bright future to us. More like free agent transfers to the likes of Milan, Madrid and Barça. Because their contract will run out and when it's time to "show the money" we seem unable to keep 'em and then some giant club will snatch 'em right from under our noses. Just look at Flamini and Hleb and watch it happen again.

Of course there isn't such money to spend now, we're on a crisis/recession... But where the hell are we getting the 15M to spend on Arshavin? This money should be spent more wisely. The way it looks from here, I'd say Wenger should get 3 players worth 5M instead of a 15M one.

I'm afraid of this deal. Concentrating all your financial efforts in just one guy right now could ruin us. Hope I'm wrong, let's just see what happens.

You're just going through a transition period.

Look at United's team in 03/04 when we came 3rd and you won the league without losing.

GK: Carroll & Howard
DF: Ferdinand, Brown, Gary & Phil Neville, O'shea, Silvestre
MF: Keane, Butt, Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs, Ronaldo, Kleberson, DjembaX2, Fortune
ST: Ruud, Solskjaer, Saha, Bellion, Forlan

That is a poor, poor team compared to now. Fergie's slowly replaced the crap with quality, and over time, I'm sure that's what Arsene wants to do.

Astonvilla still has to play against United, Liverpool and Chelsea. So i still hope that these do a favour for us by beating them. and then even if we get a draw against these teams in the 2nd leg, we beat Astonvilla to their 4th spot easily.

I think after seeing this season, 4 players need to go, yeah i think finally its time we got a solution.

1. Gallas should go and we should have someone really strong like Richards.

2. Bendner/Ade i dunno which one but both are missing way too many chances.

3. Diaby, seriously i dunno how much time will he take to develop.

4. Eboue, We could keep as a replacement, his runs are good but final products are always shite, bad passing or fucked up shots.

Ne-am dat dracu'! :|

we're fucked...wtf is this?! are these players noodered? they have no fucking balls, no self-esteem.

i'd be very worried if i was AW.

richards is shite dude, you dont want him. hes had a terrible season, his athleticism finally failed to mask the fact he cant defend for shit. you're still better off with gallas.

adebayor should be playing better and will once the team plays better but bendtner shouldnt be playing for you at all, hes eufa cup team quality.

diaby has a lot of potential, hes just not good enough to get thrust in there and expect to perform every week yet.

eboues good enough for a rb spot or a defensive right mid if you're playing a big team away. like what park does for united.

jonneymendoza, m8 are you latin?! cuz you seem to have the temper of one. :P

i totally agree with what Clockender said.
but AW should have bought some defensive players, i mean c'mon it's obvious we're lacking alot of quality players.
