Arsenal Thread

I didn't realize Everton has to play both Manchester clubs , that is a very big ask! We face Hull at the weekend. Let's hope the lads are up for it!

Ah thank God for the Eagles! I grew fond of them after my mate took me to Selhurst Park to watch a Championship game last year and I followed their saga to beat Watford in the playoffs to get promoted.
And now here they are in the Premier League defeating Chelsea and Everton :APPLAUD:

I thought the appointment of Tony Pulis would put me off them, but as long as they keep helping Arsenal, we're good!

Now Arsenal has to aim for a strong finish and possibly no dropped points. If we do win the FA Cup, the 4th place won't look so bad (as it should, considering Arsenal was leading the league until Feb).

It's just that Pulis isn't much of a welcomed figure at the N5. What with all the harbouring of leg-breaking thugs and employing anti-football tactics.

Funnily enough, Pulis moved on and Stoke fans still have a problem with Arsenal, because when their player broke Ramsey's leg he got traumatised, the poor fella.

Come to think of it, the problem behind Stoke wasn't the manager, but maybe the thuggish mindset of the local fans.

I love the feud between Arsenal fans and Stoke fans over the Shawcross thing. It's gone on for so long, it's amazing.

To me it still wasn't the worst tackle that weekend, just really unlucky in how everything came together (pun intended). A player like Cattermole does worse tackles in every match, Ramsey was juts outrageously unfortunate.

As far as I know, Shawcross hasn't hurt anyone else since then, yet is still blamed as if he did it deliberately.

As to Stoke - it's not the manager, those fans are thugs. Backwards, small-minded thugs who would like to see their team injure players more than win things.

SAF goes on about a tackle that leaves a player unscathed "HE NEARLY KILLED HIM" Yet, Ramsey`s leg rip nearly off hitting him in the head causing a slight coma. A murder doesn`t have a expiration to still be consider a murder. Shawcross can f#$k off! his name needs no mention in here. Stokes cunts has No right to boo Ramsey .

I think the whole thing got reignited when Stoke last visited the Emirates. You see, those Stoke fans had been booing Ramsey ever since he made his comeback - yeah, you read it right! He got his leg broken, and he gets booed. That's the type of fans we're talking about here.

Everyone should have put the incident behind, but we can all agree that it is harder for the victim. Especially when he's been inexplicably booed.

So you know, Ramsey's only human, the match was on home turf and all that. Then he scores a goal at the away fans end and celebrates in front of them.

So the Stoke fans published a reply on their fanzine saying, and I quote, 'the classy thing would have been going for a muted celebration'. Muted celebration! Ha! On what planet do those gimps live?

Muted celebrations are meant for a crowd that commands respect from the player, or fans of a club where he had played in the past. Since Stoke are neither to Ramsey and given the way they had been treating him, an in-your-face celebration was just what the doctor ordered.

Here's a link to what their fanzine published if you can stomach such nonsense: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...s/stoke-city-fanzine-promises-arsenal-6740408

As if every Stoke fan is like that...come on.
All those generalisations.

Did every Arsenal fan booed Eboué ? To me that is still the most daft action of fans...later on he became a cult hero, but that was heartbreaking to see...

As for Pullis, he once again proved that he is a fantastic manager...
He plays a different kind of football with different players.

I admire Stoke, not for their football, but because they are a clever team.

I believe Pulis plays to the abilities of his players and doesn't make them do what they can't. Instead he takes what they can do and take it to the max.

Next season should be interesting to watch Palace see how they progress.

Wenger thinks "Pulis n Bruce" has done a fantastic job. They deserve to be Manager of the Year for what they done w/ there clubs.

Not all Stoke fans, just the ones who fill that stadium of theirs. And I mean it, of all Premier League venues that is the most repulsive crowd.

Last time Arsenal played there, their players looked poised to end Giroud's career and their fans started booing Giroud. They must think you can't complain to the ref when someone attempts to break your leg.
Don't even get me started on the treatment Wenger gets there.

Arsenal fans sometimes turn against their own indeed. Out of the big clubs, I think it's the most unsettled set of fans, maybe because of this trophy drought? I can't really put my finger on it.
People had been angry at Eboue because of his careless style, too much diving and giving away silly penalties, and so on. But I still think it's extreme to be that hostile to our own player.
I've also witnessed large sections of the Emirates stadium booing Arshavin at the mere mention of his name as one of the substitutes available. That disgusted me as well.

As for Pulis, it's been impressive what he has been achieving with Palace. By December I thought their relegation was certain.

What a difference Özil and Ramsey make on this team. If they buy a good DMF, a decent CF and a bench CMF, they can be title contender next season.

It proves once again Ramsey is Arsenal's best player this season. Özil improves Cazorla's game and Ramsey makes more runs in the box then any player .Podi knows Ramsey will try, but he will take advantage and finish it! Podi da wonder finisher, we missed Theo's pace and energy in the final3rd.

Well that was more like it. Podolski is the best finisher in this squad IMO. It's a matter of keeping him motivated, which is up to Wenger. Playing off Giroud would be ideal for Podolski, but 2 strikers up front is something Wenger doesn't do anymore apparently.

Other than that, great to have Ramsey and Özil back. Together they're devastating.
I'm delighted to see Rambo back and not missing a beat. That he scored that fine goal kind of proves that his goals in the 1st part of the season weren't just a lucky good patch he had been going through. It really seems he has added goals to his game, and nobody else in the squad can do those runs in the middle of opposition's defence better than him. We've missed this young man!

And seeing Özil with recharged batteries is a relief. He added so much quality, which we had been missing lately. He just effortlessly creates situations. He's got that casual attitude to him, but if you look at stats for passing and chances created, those numbers scream at you, even compared to some of the world's top playmakers. Mesut is clearly ahead of other guys in that same position. I just hope he further adjusts to Prem tempo and that Wenger is able to get the best out of him.

It's true that we could have been in contention til the end if we had more players, such as another DMF and a decent striker.
But in the end, it's all buts and ifs... the fact is that we aren't in contention, disappointingly and we have to take what we can.
What really took a toll on our league title chances was having so many injured (think of Walcott playing a full season) and especially getting hammered against direct opposition. To me, that was our biggest sin. Had Wenger just opted for a different game plan against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, our campaign would be looking much better by now.
If we were more cagey and playing for a draw at those difficult fixtures, we would no doubt have a better outcome and Chelsea and Liverpool wouldn't slip away so far from us.

we're 10 points off the favourites for winning the league. That's 2 games we lost and 2 games we drew too many. If we'd won those, we would be were Liverpool are, except for the goal difference.

What is key to improving is to do better on direct confrontation. That's where we're losing the league, on the so-called 6-point matches. We've been handing the points to our direct rivals and this is where it stings the most.
Those beatings need to stop, and we just have to do better when facing the top 4 teams, and this is precisely where Wenger has been coming up short in recent years and questions are being asked about him and rightly so.

I don't have much hope he will reinvent himself as a manager, get a few new tricks up his sleeve and outwit and surprise the stronger teams in tough conditions. That's the problem IMO.
I don't see the signs that it will happen, but I just hope I'm wrong about that.

Even without doing well against the top sides, if he had beaten Stoke away, Swansea at home and Aston Villa at home we'd be two points off Liverpool.

Seriously, Wenger should go this season if he doesnt win Cup.

I hope you do beat Hull in a way because I'd like another 5/10 years of Wenger - I think he's lost the plot personally.

Please dont get Klopp or Martinez. I'd cry.

Its weird to hear that you hope a manager that always finishes above you to stay?

You should wish that we get one of the 50,000 managers you have had over the last 20years so that you might have a chance of finishing above us?
