Arsenal Thread

No Song, looks like it confirms the move to Barca! I never tought that it would be Song to leave, not Song! And i realy like that guy! Damn it!

Arsenal is like cheap prostitute, every one who have money just come and take our best players! Why not slap big price tag over Song he have contract, if you want him pay what we want and thats it Song is more valuable to Arsenal than 15m ! He have been very consistent and time to time provided some goals and assist that isnt even his primary task on pitch! I am so surprised about this move! Song, please not Song!

Watching the game from the start and yes, you have got possession, but the link between midfielders-attackers is missing. Podolski can't play at Center Forward position at all. It's much different league than Bundesliga and I feel he will not do well here, but only time will play.

Cazorla will be huge for your team definitely and defo best player today for Arsenal.

However, it was Sunderland who were more likely to score in 1st half creating 3 CCCs.

In 2nd half Arsenal pushes even more, but nothing happens. You defo miss Song and van Persie here. It shows.

And Mertesucker and Jenkinson are both terrible. Absolutely wank and not fitting Arsenal quality. If you want to aim for top 3, get better defenders than those 2!

I think I am watching a different game to you :DD

No. Maybe you're just biased cos you're Arsenal fan :P.

Those 3 clear cut chances must of all happened in the first 10 minutes as well as merts and Jenkinson playing so bad as to be labelled terrible?

I just saw an Arsenal side dominate the match have some good chances and should have got at least a goal.

I'm just waiting for people to come in and say we miss Van Persie now because nobody scored

Anyway was always going to take time for players to settle in, Gervinho looked good and Arshavin looked lively when he came on.

Arsenal didn't play badly in my opinion controlled the game, perhaps they were less creative than usual, but you can't expect all the new players to click immediately, Cazorla looked good though in my opinion. Also Arshavin looked lively and interested when he came on, kept offering himself up for the ball which is a good sign, though he did give away a few sloppy passes.

I saw nothing that'd make me worry if I were an Arsenal fan.

pretty bad performance for arsenal standards, although santi was classy all match, best ive ever seen gervinho play, only 2 positives to take out the game really i think

CF PLS.

Take that Money from RVP and Song (try to get Sahin on loan if possible) and use it to buy a top class striker.

Actualy I dont even think we miss RVP, we have Poldi and Giroud, gervinho is performing great and Cazorla is great! Just wasnt lucky enough! We do have players who can put the ball into the back of the net!!

And PS: I want RVP to fail in Man Utd get some injury or what so that other players would see what happens when you leave Arsenal!... YOU FAIL!

Yep I think on the basis of that one match, the first game that our three new players have played we, definately need another attacker because Podolski and Giroud just won't cut it!

And we played absolutely terrible today, I'm so depressed. I hate dominating games and being the better team, why can't we play much better in the first game of the season.

Nothing against Podolski Bobby, he's better suited to a role on the left of a front three, he isn't a CF.

Giroud I haven't seen enough of but if he got injured you'd be light through the middle IMO.

I think it is a bit early to judge really, you are probably right as a lot of people said the same, it may be that he is more suited to that role, but it also doesn't mean he can't be successful as the main man.

I wouldn't mind seeing another CF, but I don't think it will happen. The more quality players we have in each position the better obviously.

Giroud will never replace RvP imo, he's in a different level.
I don't think RvP would've missed that chance created after Cazorla's clever pass but still I think he'll do just fine.

Cazorla looks class to me, might turn out to be the best signing of the summer, I really adore the way he plays.

RVP could have missed it, Messi could have missed it, Ronaldo could have missed it, Gomez could have missed it. Happens to the very best, no-one has a 100% chance conversion ratio, shouldn't judge a player on so little, especially on a competitive debut, where nerves are likely to be at their highest.

£15million for Song is far too cheap, find that price quite bizarre to be honest, I understand the need to get rid of players who don't want to be play for the club, but surely you were in a position to argue for a better deal?

Yeah Cazorla looked brilliant, Arsenal controlled the game mostly but had some horrendous moments of lapse in concentration which Sunderland could have capitalized on (No doubt it'll happen 2-3 atleast this year)

Sagna, Koscielny and if he ever recovers Wilshere will a lot, just still think you'll find it more difficult to score.

I will wait a lot longer before I will say Giroud will never replace Van Persie. We will see.

I'm sure when Henry first came, if you were asked would he be our most successful striker ever, most people would have said of course not.

Maybe Giroud will not have to replace him and our team will take a collective responsibility for goals, so we are not overly reliant on one striker, that would be ideal.

Anyway....We will see :DD

Cazorla will be the best signing. I know we need another attacking player RVP-Song-Bendtner-?-? we have money to burn. Gervinho was tracking back getting the ball was perfect, his communication w/ Pold is a let down nervy-jitters esque.

Some say Bundes liga is different I beg ya differ ,bundes is closer to PL everyday of the week. Per looked more steady, Diaby looked uncomfortable. It will get better :SMUG:

I know he burnt his bridges a bit a year ago, but I think if Bendtner was on the bench he would have been a good option to throw on. The trouble is looking at the match squad today (team and bench) you only really had one genuine striker in it - Giroud, and he was on the bench. Cazorla, Podolski, Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho are all talented players but they are more akin to quick wingers rather than finishers. I still think you need another striker (or maybe bring Park or Bendtner back into the fold) to take the pressure of Giroud.

We still have Chamakh :DD

I would like to see Bendtner again, but he has made it pretty clear he wants to go.

Song's officially gone and I think Wenger is cutting his losses with part of the squad who underachieved for the most part of the last 6 years and these same players are now are blabbering about winning trophies.
Van Persie spent 5 seasons out of 7 disrupted by injury and half of Song's career he drove me mad and made me wanna throw my telly out the window with his shocking performances. Now that they come good they forget all of this and come with this funny winning trophies rap.
Well you failed to win trophies too, mon ami! Don't think otherwise and don't underestimate the effort Wenger had in making players out of this lot.
And the next in line is Walcott. Still there's no talk of him renewing his contract and he was once again extremely poor today. Nothing that justifies him earning more than £100k a week. Far from it! He's more than welcome to earn this elsewhere, if it were for me. Good riddance.
I agree with this revolution, clearing the decks and start over again. As long as the money is reinvested.
So now we have more than £35m sitting in the bank? We have to get reinforcements in.

We looked short in the attack. Cazorla was really good, Podolski had a quiet debut but I think he'll be important. But the others didn't impress me at all.
Many liked what they saw from Gervinho today, but I wonder if we watched the same match? The man's ridiculously frustrating to watch. Shows great moves, beats 2 players and then dribbles the ball out of bounds for goal kick. School boy mistakes. Walcott seems such a prima-donna and thinks he's much better than he really is. And Arshavin has bags of talent with him but wasted possession with sloppy passes and seems too casual most of the time.

Giroud, I hope he adapts well and has a good mentality with plenty of patience if his start is difficult. But I fear the worst and he might end up being nothing more than a handsome Chamakh :P

I know it's only the opening game of the season, but we looked much sharper than this in past debuts. There's a lot to be done still, including transfers.

Nothings being done with Walcott, so I guess he wants to leave on a free next season and get a ridiculous pay/signing on fee somewhere?

I can't see why any club better than Arsenal would want Walcott at the moment, unless he has a blinding year for us? and I definately can't see them paying the money he wants.

Gervinho, I thought looked dangerous and was always willing to take on players and have a shot, which was good. If he keeps playing like that, he will do well.

I really don't think you can judge Giroud on one game, already giving him the tag of the next Chamakh because he missed one chance?!

The team need to learn to play together, it is going to be a tough season, but I hope littered with some fine displays and good results. As usual, they will be hard fought wins and some losses of course.

Once the forwards gel together and we have an established midfield and defence, it will all get better, I am sure of that :DD

when Bobby is pessimistic you know we're screwed.

it really was depressing. it was sterile and same as many many other matches.
i agree we need more.
the sad part is that Arsenal are forced to do the business this way by the way the marketplace is functioning and (un)regulated.
we have to face it: arsenal have been (unnaturally and also by own fault) forced down the pecking order.

one more thing: gerd did not posses me, BUT: RvP being a Legend is Rubbish! It was created by a sensational season and some soon to be tarnished fan savvy attitude.
My Point, look at Henry's stats: 5 consecutive seasons with over 30 goals and never (besides his last season) had bellow 20 goals.
RvP is a HUGE blow and it hurts to see him in the shirt.

What hurts more is Arsenal's struggle. We have become average.

p.s.: I was always thinking Walcott is way more important to sign than Robin because: 1. Robin proved he wanted to go no doubs, 2. the age, and the usefulness for the squad for squad depth and for years to come also.
