Arsenal Thread

Jonney is going over the top again, not every Arsenal supporter thinks like him.

Fab has been great for us and very loyal (Arsenal have given him alot of responsibility and treated him very well aswell). He has dealt with the media very well. He has let everybody know he will go at some point to barca, this some point might be now.

So if he goes, Im sure he will go with most of Arsenal supporters best wishes, nobody will be mad with him (as long as he is honest and doesn't lie etc).

Wenger should go along with fabregas.
if wenger stays and we win fuck all, expect Van persie and ashavin to follow suit.

Wenger isn't the best man manager either, Arshavin is probably wanting out and he'd be more likely to push for a move.

Fab leaving would not be a stab in the back, to look at it that way is naive. He wasn't born on the Holloway Road, he's from Barcelona. He has the opportunity to play for the team he and his family have grown up supporting. Imagine if it were the other way around; a boy from London, born and raised Gooner playing for a smaller foreign club. Would you blame him if he wanted to take up the opportunity? He's always been straight with the club and the fans about his intentions, so if the right fee can be agreed I don't think we can have any complaints.

Now that's a big IF. Barcelona can take a long walk off a short pier if they think they can land him on the cheap. At 23 he's well off his peak and even if they sell him after six seasons they can expect a hefty sell on fee for him. £50 million would be my starting point.

To Runeedge, there is a not so hidden message in my post about a Van Bommel-like player (hint: don't read "-like" and maybe you will solve the riddle).

I have a Belgian suggetion too: current Ajax player Jan Vertonghen. IMO he's our best player at the moment, better than Hazard and Lukaku. He is a litle bit like Van Bommel (but less cynical).

About Fabregas.

Foir god's sake, these guys are professional players. I don't understand why English fans are so juvenile about players who leave their club. Players like Fabregas are in it for the money...not because they love a club...that is for fans.

Jonney you are complaining for weeks that Arsenal does not win silverware, but when Fabregas is likely to leave you don't understand...he wants to earn more and win silverware.

Good point there Gerd. You're being quite hypocritical jonney.

For a defensive midfield bastard available on the cheap how about Gary Medel of Boca. The guys an absolute animal and isn't that bad at football either. :D

1 down, and that leaves around 3 or 4 to go right? Certainly a keeper will come to mind, as well as a center defender.

Bendtner is decent in the air but now with Chamakh, Arsenal will FINALLY have some DANGEROUS f'n POTENT Aerial ability in front of their attack. This guy offers a bit of everything but his aerial ability, (heading, jumping, reaction, bravery) is outstanding! Its been so long since Arsenal had a dangerous forward in the air!

Guys like Adebayor and Bendtner are tall, in fact taller than Marouane, and decent in the air, some may argue even better than decent, 'good', but certainly nothing great! He can now make great use of crosses were they to be supplied in the box and the style Arsenal plays change, which could considering new arrivals and possibly departure of Fab.

About the whole Fab thing, If I were Cesc, I would go too now at this time and considering all I've given the club and all the club has given me, I would hope to be appreciated, respected and fondly remembered just as I would appreciate, respect and fondly remember Arsenal and I think this will be the case for the majority of the fans anyway, so it's all good. You can never please everyone anyhow.

But if I were Guardiola, I wouldn't get rid of Yaya Toure! That'd be a mistake! So if somehow Yaya is offered in the deal somewhere, Gunners must take advantage and bring him to London.

Agh, sorry, from Monaco! He was in shakhtar the year before. But anyway he was not a known and stablished player, and he had great performances since the start, so it shows Wenger could make a terrific team signing promising players, he only needs to top it with 1 or 2 important signings of veteran (not necessarily old) players.

It wasn't Shakhtar bro. It was another Ukranian club, Metalurg, I think... smaller club. And it wasn't the year before cuz before Monaco, he played for Olympiakos where he also impressed the hell out of everyone. Basically everywhere he's been, he's been great including Barca. Now whoever takes him (assuming Barca are getting rid of him which would be a mistake), will benefit again as all his previous clubs have.

But anyway, I see your point. :) You just had the details which are minor and not really important a little mixed up.

Chamakh looks like Ronaldo...

jonney, calm down. the press reports that barca said they won't force the issue with fabregas. it's really up to wenger if he let's him go or not. you have a good point about arsenal making him what he is and how barca didn't give him a chance. fabreags should wake up and smell the roses xavi, iniesta, pique, were chose over a little boy called francesc and it's also true he'll be just a back up for one of the above two. and i add that fabregas has just signed a contract and should respect at least half of the period. if barca will bid we should tell them to get stuffed.
if fabregas goes, i think part of the youngster philosophy will go with him, he is the benchmark of the hole system. it's part of a big club / winner mentality to not rely, depend and cry over the departure of one player.

looking at chamakh's stats he's actually a proven goalscorer. here's to some more at arsenal.

how do you guys think wenger will fit chamakh in the squad? will he maintain the 4-3-3 or will he go back to 4-4-2?

I think you have conditions to use a front 2 striker partnership.

Van Persie (Eduardo)
Chamakh (Bendtner)

This seems like a good attacking duo.

not if wenger gves Arsenal a 35m profit  Wenger likes youth ,but don`t forget he doesn`t hold sentiments he will say I think you should leave or watch my boys from the bench and time from time you can play ,but you are expendable. Plus, Wenger has wilshire and Ramsey don`t think they ever dreamed to play for UTD . Think they learned lots from fab I think Wilshire is a tad more special ,but Ramsey is miles better atm. So philosophy remains

He's also got a got one asset extremely similar to Ronaldo as PLF pointed out his aerial ability reminds me pretty exactly the same as Ronaldo's. Brilliant leap, attacks the ball with purpose and is a real handful in the air. (Shows how great Ronaldo is when thats just one aspect of his game)

Ramsey like a lot of Welsh lads supported us as a boy (Liverpool are the other popular team) and said so when we both fought to sign him. Fergie was on holiday so sent Gary Neville to show him round whilst Wenger did it himself. Ramsey liked the personal touch and the felt he'd get a better chance of breaking through with you guys.

tough luck! :P

@boboq, this is why we shouldn't be pulling our hair out...or as a romanian saying goes: putting our skirts on our head

wenger hinted in one video that we will be signing 1/2 players around 25 years old.

Cesc want play for barcelona, it's normally

The thing I don't get is why Barca even want Faberge?! Where is he going to play with both Iniesta and Xavi in CM with Messi coming in to the centre aswell. Are they planning to rotate Iniesta and Xavi with Cech? Surely the Spanish league isn't especially strong that they need to have the best team out against the relegation fodder. And all 3 will want to start in the big games.

The problem is that Xavi and Iniesta don't have at least one solid sub, except an adapted Yaya and a Keita that doesn't really have similarities with neither of the spanish.
Besides iniesta has lots of physical problem throughout a season, so Cesc would see quite a lot of game. Also he could take some games out of Xavis shoulders since Xavi usually makes over 40/50 games a season if fit.

Yaya and Keita are both good players and adequate subs. You dont need 3 world class players in teh same positions. They all cant play at the same time.

Plus you lot only have 30m to spend on fabregas so you might as well fuck right off with that silly offer. 50m+ and his all yours.

i dont have a problem with fab going but for 30m? LOL your having a laugh.

Who said barcelona offered 30 M€? As far as I know, barcelona still has to offer anything for him. And here, people and press talk about 40-45 M€. I'm intrigued about that offer of 30 M€, where did you hear about that?

What i heard is that barcelona ONLY have 30m left to spend in their transfer kitty. Now tell me, how can they offer more than what they have unless your getting rid of some players?

i read on various different forums and newspapers. Also, if you read what i said, i said IF barcelona are offering only 30m they can fuck off. thats what i said. Note the word IF
