Arsenal Thread

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Back to the Top!!

I just wanted to post this, Im so upset we had a chance to do really we this season, I knew it from since christmas when I posted the above.

It just feels like we was robbed, fair play and no disrespect to liverpool fc.

you were right, senderos is shit

Key issues for me.........

Toure & Eboue - both players a shadow of what they was before the Africa cup of Nations.

No Cover for Squad - Fab and Flamini cant play every damn game, Gilberto at the start of season was terrible, hes got a bit better now, but Diarra left - no cover bought in.

Senderous - as per my post back in Jan - no offence to the kid but he aint good enough, we needed a quality defender.

Attacking wise we have done well ,but majority of our games we always go behind because of a soft goal by crap defending, we cant win any league or cup defending like that.

ok, well leave the soccer bashing at home, no point for that. I understand, but i think you have to remember, hargreaves was bought in for cover, i remember a few years ago when united midfield was ravished, keane and scholes were hurt and the center midfield pairings were fletch and oshea, or giggs and oshea, terrible. If the money is there, then why let that happen ever again? sir alex bought cover, scholes gets hurts, insert anderson or carrick,
carrick gets hurt, slot in hargreaves, then there is always fletcher, :) not nit picking just tyring to have harmless banter while im bored at work

don't take the soccer comment to heart mate, was some light banter to... :))

Over in India on business, and watched the game in a bar in my hotel. What utter rubbish for the last 7 minutes. When we should have been galvanising the position, and holding out, some of the players were still celebrating. Penalty aside, there is no argument for crap defending and letting Liverpool score 60 seconds later. What should have been a night when Theo won accolades, we are instead rubbing our heads in disbelief.

The defence has to be shored up - there is not question. Senderos is beginning to look like Cygan now, he is just too stupid. Not a generalisation, he IS just stupid. The guy is just on some other planet most of the time. I thought the alarm bells should have been ringing when Senderos and Djorou were the star CB pairing against the Spuds in the Carling Cup. Almunia is also cuplable. What the hell was he doing running out to meet Gallas just before the Pool's first goal? Gallas had it comfortably covered - instead, good ol' Al' run's out to do some super sweeping, and instead puts the team under pressure, for which Liverpool win and corner, and Hyppia out paces and out jumps Senderos. Toure has been utter shite since he came back from ANC, and he really needs a good boot up the Arse. Eboue.... nuff said. He exploded onto the scene 2 years ago and pushed out Lauren, but has been going backwards since then.

CMF is another area of strenthening. I know Diaby is naturally CMF, and we have been limited by the availaibilty of Rosicky out wide, but will Wenger look to bring in Ben Arfa. Any other wingers? Maybe Wenger should have played Walcott from the beginning. He does make impact as a super sub, but isn't it time he is rewarded with a good run in the team? Just speaking out loud here!

I hope Wenger finally 'sees' it, and looks to build.

Everyone wrote us off at the beginning of the season, but to lead for so long, and to lose to naivity and inexperience, and suddenly become culpable makes us the Denver Bronco's of England - Perennial Chokers.

^^I agree with virtually everything he is saying...I would still be embarrassed if that pen had been given to us and it allowed us to go through. Other than that, class article.

Have you guys read Gael Clichy's take on the matter?

He was blaming your abillity to collapse which has shown up quite a few times recently in the league too. He didn't moan about the penalty. Keith Hackett said it was a penalty, Tydsley said it was a penalty, seems to me only Toure and Wenger and moaning about it.

If you let in 5 goals in a CL tie let alone 4 there is something wrong and you have to address it. This was against a supposedly cautious team.

The Ref mentioned no-one was complaining at the time of the penalty, and in fact, Toure was the victim of abuse from other team-mates.

--------------------------------------------------------

Controversial referee Peter Frojdfeldt has revealed Arsenal’s players knew it was a penalty when Kolo Toure felled Ryan Babel in the decisive moment of their Champions League quarter final with Liverpool.

Just seconds after Emmanuel Adebayor had given Arsenal the advantage with seven minutes remaining at Anfield, Toure brought down Babel to hand Liverpool a ticket to the last four.

Arsene Wenger has since labelled the penalty decision ‘dodgy’, although replays of his players’ reaction lend little support to the Arsenal boss.

And Frojdfeldt confirmed that he received little complaints when he pointed to the spot, with Toure the subject of his team-mates’ vitriol.

“I have no doubt it was a penalty,” the Swedish official said.

“He pulled his shirt and the only ones complaining were the Arsenal players, who were complaining at Toure.

“It was a very fair game in a high tempo. The atmosphere was fantastic.”

Shame the foul was outside the box but there you go.

Enough now of this match! Lets move on....

We have to pick oursleves up, dust ourselves down and get on with winning as many points as we possibly can and see where that takes us.

After all, if we somehow manage to win the league, the red half of Liverpool will be giving us admiring glances cos they want the league more than anything else.

Come on you Gunners!

I'm a gunner fan and will always be. i just saw this thread and haven't read anything in it...all i have to say is...We better spend some of that money we got in the bank...i love the youth arsenal has and all but lets buy some top stars, spend some damn money already!!

bring in Quaresma, either Aguero/Villa/Huntelaar or wrestle Benzema away from Man U, danny Alves, micah richards, muntari, Guillermo Ochoa or c gordon of sunderland

let flamini leave, get rid of adebayor (hes been great and is great but i have a personal hatred for him), get rid of eboue, almunia and lehmann, rosicky ( i love him but hes too injury prone). Bendtner (for his sake and arsenal's sake, hes not good enuff to be in any of top 4 teams)

I would love to see a lineup like this next season

OCHOA
ALVES RICHARDS TOURE CLICHY

QUARESMA FABREGAS MUNTARI HLEB

Huntelaar RVP

I love my gunners but to compete with chelski and Man U, we have to at least spend half of what they spend on new players. Just half and we'll be top again. Arsene's coaching and beautiful futbol will take care of everything else... my 2 cents

okay wenger is a pretty good coach...

but he seems to be shite at spending money...

when a player is unknown, there is less expectancy, when you spend big the players has to deliver...

wenger had the money to beef the squad up, but didnt, and its gonna be another trophy-less season.

okay the current team maybe better next year, but so will all the other big teams, and at least 2 of the top 4 will be building on the back of winning a major trophy...

is anyone at arsenal gonna start putting pressure on wenger??

Fair comments there Vann

Its a massive season for us next season, we have trusted Wenger since he has been in charge but the majority of fans I speak to think the squad needs MAJOR investment. We have the money and that is not my worry. Wenger seems to think that we do not need to spend in the summer, in fact he is on record as saying he WILL NOT be buying anyone.

My only hope is that this is a smokescreen and deals are being carved out as we speak. Its quite clear to me that we need a major overhaul in the squad if we are to challenge next season.

The 1st choice eleven are great, but beyond that there isn't much else.

IF we fail next season, he will be under pressure, trust me.

It has been confirmed that some of the players will be offloaded in summer. And Senderos Might be one of them. But i still think that he has some potential left. Walcott was also shit before but now he has started playing really well. Maybe Senderos is taking time, anyways lets see. And Justin Hoyte might leave for some 1st team football, along with Jens Lehmann. and Flamini has not YET signed, so dont know anything about him. Hleb also might leave as Inter and Barca want him badly but nothings sure. Carlos Vela is also not sure about his future at Arsenal as noone has told him about going back. He might stay at Osasuna for 1 more year.

And about Players who could come to Arsenal:
1. Diego is willing to play for Arsenal provided we pay for him the right amount.
2. Clement Grenier, a kid from Lyon, called the next Kaka.
3. Josias, Reggina Brazilian Defender.
4. Luka Modric, Arsenal are going to try again for him.
5. Ben Arfa, apparently Wenger has agreed even to give 15M for him. His price is 11.8M
6. Rodrigo Palacio, Boca Juniors Striker, even Chelsea are after him.
7. Obafemi Martins and N'Zogbia, not very sure about these.
8. Jonathan De Guzman, Feyenoord U21 Attacking Midfielder.
9. Joao Moutinho of Sporting Lisbon.
10. Dani Aquino, Real Murcia youngster.
11. Ricardo Queresma, hes might be available for just 5M as Porto might be relegated.

Well i dont know how many will really turn up from these. I hope the good ones do!!

Well Adebayor said that himself. Well maybe i should say it has been 'Revealed' by "The Guardian" instead of 'Confirmed'. Sorry for that. and yeah Giberto Silva also might be one of them.

Senderos is complete crap hes slow and I dont know how people see some potential about this guy, hes a totaly average CB and very very Slow, just look at the 2 goal he cost us by he slowness vs liverpool.

quaresma and diego should be top priority as flamini and helb will leave surely. with RVP and adebayor on way to becoming a top striker, were good at the position and bring ben arfa cause rosicky been injured for the last 3 season and we cant no longer count on him for a whole season.

How can they get relegated when there like 15 points clear at the top?:?

Shit!! there are reports that Hleb has agreed to the Inter Deal of 5 year contract. This is what happens when we dont win something, players get frustrated and want to leave. I just hope he stays.

I hope its true, he has been shit since October. 3 goals from an attacking midfield position in a successful side, not good enough....

He is possibly the most frustrating player we have ever had.

Well yeah last season he was shite!! But everyone were shite last season. Adebayor, Walcott all were useless. But Hleb was incredible at the beginning of this season. Till the AC Milan game he was damn good. I guess the only reason he started playing like crap was maybe becoz he got tired later on. and Wenger also had said once that other players do rash tackles mostly on Hleb becoz they cant bring him down. Maybe he was injured also, thats why he did not play well. and out of all he played the wrong position becoz Rosicky was injured all the time. Well lets see anyways!!
