Arsenal Thread

May Henry and his family suffer the bubonic plague this summer then their frail bodies be eaten by alive by rats as they lie there screaming for help that doesn't come. He will regret going to Barcelona. May God send a swarm of holy wasps to descend upon him to swarm over and brutally sting him til the end of his days. Then may Satan accept him through the gates of hell and place him in the hottest corner where he shall eternally baste and roast.

Saw your graaa'nd when I was darn sarf over the weekend, looked impressive

Well yeah it is! ;)

Looks like its 1 in 1 out today possibly.

Sagna coming in from Auxerre, do we need another right back?

Freddie out to Fiorentina. Freddie hasn't been himself for 2 seasons now and if the fee is to be believed then £5.5m is good business.

The Martins rumours continue to spiral and whilst I wouldn't be unhappy with him, IMO we really need a wide players. Babel would have been great but if they want £13.5m for him then we have been priced out. :(

this what I dont get about the gunners...

surely you's cant be short of cash, wenger is a good business man when it comes to transfers, all the extra revenue from both the new ground and new tv money...

whats the deal??

okay I know you's have gotta pay for the ground but shit we have got debt well over £700mill but we still invest heavily in the team...

I think the gunners are in danger of falling away from the top four especially with spurtz improving and investing every season....

Babel, Martins and a new CB would have made a massive difference IMO...

Knowing AW he`ll wait 2 get them on the cheap. 13 million for babel is a lot and he`s not even a starter for Ajax. I hope AW can deliver a strong campaign this season regardless of the critics nay says

I agree there. Our defence was shocking at times last season and i thought a new CB was a necessity...

Toure ---- new CB ---- Gallas ---- Sagna

The lack of money is something i can't understand - or it's Wenger just being frugal.

However, you have to notice it's Wenger now going around Europe signing the deals - not David Dein.

We shouldn't be unhappy about Babel signing for Liverpool. In the Eredivisie, he isn't great and £13.5m is way, way too much for him. He has a horrible first touch, needs alot of space and time, and his passing skills are below par as well. Only thing he could add to the team are powerful long-range shots.

Bacary Sagna completes move to Arsenal

French defender Bacary Sagna has signed for Arsenal from Auxerre on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Sagna (24) who won the French Cup with Auxerre in 2005, was recently called up to the French national squad, where he was an unused substitute in his country’s Euro 2008 Qualifier victory over Georgia in June.

Bacary, who was born in France but has Senegalese parents, has been a regular for Auxerre over the past three seasons, making 87 appearances for the French side during that time. Featuring predominantly at right back, Sagna played a part in Auxerre’s UEFA Cup campaign last season.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to have signed Bacary Sagna. He is a very capable defender and has played consistently well for Auxerre in recent seasons. He plays mainly at right back, but can also play along the defence or in midfield. He is strong, quick and enjoys defending but also has a good offensive side to his game. He has a fighting spirit and will be a very good addition to our squad.”

Sagna said: “It is great to be joining Arsenal and I’m excited to be playing alongside many great players. I know Abou Diaby from our time together at Auxerre and also Gael Clichy and Mathieu Flamini from the French Under-21 team. Also Arsène Wenger is a major reason why I have signed for Arsenal. He is an excellent manager with a fantastic record and I am really looking forward to working with him. I’m also looking forward to playing at Emirates Stadium and winning trophies for the Club and all the supporters.”

Bacary will wear the No 3 shirt for Arsenal and will immediately join up with his new team mates.

Now for Martins....

anyone got decent stats for both sagna and diaby, in game seem very unrealistic

guys, according to some sites you've signed angel di maria wo currently plays for argentina at the U-20 world cup in canada, is this true? or are you just scouting him?

Not heard anything about Di Maria, but papers in UK are rife with rumours that Rodrigo Palacio is moving to Arsenal for £14m and will wear the number 14 shirt.

I've always rated him at Boca, but wonder how he'll fit into the premiership.

Wonder if making a bid for Riquelme might be a good bet too. Boca have stated that he is too expensive to keep after his loan finished, and he was inspired in the final of the Copa Liberatadores. Going back to Villarreal is not something he wants to.

thx mate ;)

if he should join arsenal then I have my new team in PES.

The guy can be feckin awful sometimes, did you see him in the Copa final yesterday, what a lazy bastard...

yous have just sold one of the biggest "chokers" why get another one?

i guess you didnt see his three goals in the copa libatordes tournament final that he practically single handily won himself..
Riqulme isnt a choker but his head needs an attitude adjustment sometimes.. he can be awful but he can also be the best in the world, the year viallareal went to the semi finals, he was incredible that season, and has been this year for boca, arsenal would have a great player in him

Gunners move for starlets

Arsenal are understood to have struck deals for South American starlets Angel Di Maria and Pedro Silva.

The news has emerged via Spain, as The Gunners have already agreed a deal with Salamanca to take the two teenagers on loan - in a similar move to the one which saw Mexican Carlos Vela move on a temporary basis last season.

Gilles Grimandi, one of Arsene Wenger's most trusted scouts, cast his eye over both and is understood to have given glowing references.

Di Maria is very highly rated in his homeland and is part of the Argentina Under 20 squad which has made the semi-finals at the World Championship in Canada.

'The Little Angel', as he is known, has scored two goals in four games and is one of the stars of the tournament so far.

It is now understood that Arsenal have brokered a deal with his club Rosario Central and the 19-year-old will link up with The Gunners later this month.

However, because he does not meet work-permit criteria - he is ready to spend the season with Salamanca, who are more than happy to take the left winger following Vela's successful stay at the club.

Di Maria will also have company in the shape of Pedro - a 17-year-old forward from Brazil.

Pedro is currently with Figueirense - who Arsenal have had talks with about a co-operation agreement.

Pedro has already made his first-team debut and was first spotted by Arsenal's South American scout Sandro Orlandelli some months ago.

Some reports claim Pedro has already had a trial with The Gunners, and he now seems to have done enough to earn a move to North London - but he is also set to spend the season in Spain.

Salamanca are hopeful of confirming the arrival of both players later this week

wow!!! I didn't expected that... I've heard about Palacio (bad shopping...) but Di Maria is a surprise. Hopefully, gunners bought well

I describe Di Maria for those who doesn't know him...

Di Maria can play as attack-midfielder, centre-forward or wing (both side). Has a great technique and is already a first-team player in Rosario Central. He is not very big, but has enough strenght.
