Arsenal Thread

That doesnt mean the La Liga is weaker, it just means that Ruud's a f*ckin legend.

To me it mean EPL are tougher with physical touches that why Forlan won top scorer 1st season , and Ruud was top 2nd scorer in the EPL one can only imagine his taly at the end of the season.Ruud is scoring from inside the box knocking down GKs and shooting outside the box.(sign of the time for the no longer the Tapper)

Look anyone can adapt to the surrounding of play in my opinion.. So can anyone come from LaLiga to EPL and be Top scorer?

leave it alone Rune

Well its a massive game tonight, too many permitations to try to predict on, we have just got to go out and win the game and see where we are then. Gallas is out for a few weeks which is a blow but we are well stocked at CB so I expect Senderos to get a chance to re-claim his place.

Come on you Gunners!

You're talking as if many have tried and failed.
How many players from La Liga with a reputation as great as van Nistelrooy have come over to the EPL anyway? Maybe if a Etoo or a Villa came over here and failed, then I'd believe you.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the perfect example of a player who isnt used to the toughness of the EPL, yet he settled in just fine.
If you cant handle the EPL, its because you arent a world class player, not because the EPL is tough.

Morientes is a world class striker, but could not cope with the Prem.

wow what a load of bullshit. Ronaldo is a huge straping lad, he is strong as an ox and he is pretty tall, he also is probably the fastest player in the EPL, if he was any slower he would be fouled even more. He is the exception not the rule. Shevshenko has only recently had some good form in the EPL, but he still is settling in.. he is by no means a top player in the EPL, just yet... Juan Seabastian Veron comes to mind, Hernan Crespo, there have been many others as well. In the EPL they chew you up and spit you out immediatley, in spain more emphasis is put on creativity and skill, less on tackling on every part of the pitch. The pace of the game is also an issue, EPL is a much faster paced game. Where in La Liga its a bit slower paced. But to say that you arent a world class player because you couldnt cut it in the EPL, is completley false.

Have to disagree with this part of your post, no doubt he is in fantastic shape but he's not exactly strong. And there is no way he is the fastest player in the Premiership. Concerning the last comment it is his quick acceleration that means he get fouled alot, if he was slower he would not get fouled as much because defenders could cope with him.

You can argue that he wasnt given enough time to adapt. Look how long it took Drogba to play the way he does now.
If someone like Micheal Owen can have a big reputation in the EPL, I dont see how a player like Etoo wouldnt adapt.
The point is, the EPL isnt harder to play in. Its just harder for foreigners to figure out cuz there arent many leagues as physical as the EPL. If you're as smart as Owen, you'd still score no matter how small or weak you might be.
Sure Ronaldo's a big lad but he's not a physical player. I dont think I've ever seen him even try to out-muscle another larger player. But he learnt to find a way around his weakness and has become the player he is today and it took him a couple of years to achieve that. And I'm under the assumption that Sheva's a smart player too so I'd expect him to be firing in goals in atleast a years time.
Of course your age comes into it too cuz you're not gonna have an easy time adapting if you're 30. So IMO, if you cant handle it, you're either past your best or not world class. I dont see how you can call yourself world class if you can only play in a certain way or league.

I agree with you on this point RuneEdge, He was not given enough time to adapt. Concerning whether the Premiership is tougher or not I dont know, its more physical and less technical probably. I think foreign players have alot of personal problems that affect them on the pitch. The English lifestyle, weather, family etc that should be taken into account.

Where do you sit Joystick?

In the blue quadrant, right on the cornerflag, about 15 rows from the pitch. My view kinda looks like this, albeit quite a bit closer:

They're my mate and his dad's seasies, which I get to borrow every few games. So far I've been to Villa, Boro, Sheff U and Newcastle. Going to Portsmouth and Blackburn in Dec \\:o/

You?

Also, re: quick players, I've read a few times that Kolo Toure holds the fastest 100m time at Arsenal.

East lower, block 13 Row 18. Level with Penalty spot at north end, can't remember what quadrant but its the corner where the North bridge is. Its ok but I preferred the Clock End, it had a bit more banter if you know what I mean!

Rune from your flip flop posting I don`t know if you agree or disagree with yourself much less with anyone else.I was comparing those from the EPL and LaLiga , not SerieA and Ligue 1.

Thank you for introducing Evo-Web with the most pointless post in history.

pointless....I`m trying to understand what you`re talking about. It`s like you sending out invitations to your own surprise party I`m not having a laugh

Theo was great when he came on. The atmosphere was the best yet at the Emirates, VERY loud throughout the whole of the second half. Still a point required at Porto.
