Arsenal Thread

united made a big fuss about the "Careless cup" when they won it last season.

Anyway "the league ends in May"

So don't get it twisted, theres still plenty to play for.

United didnt make a big fuss out of the CC. We of course were gratful we had won something. At the end of the day,a trophy is a trophy. We didnt misplace it, and delude ourselves to believing it to be more prestigious as the FA, CL, premership or the famous legendary 4-0 win over Reading; who were undefeated at home fives years through the championship until the visit of the mighty Arsenal. Nothing can beat that.

Don't know who I want to win today. You because I hate Liverpool, or them 'cause you're a bigger threat to us.
Just a shame you can't both lose... I suppose a draw would bw ok.:(

Strange one isnt it, Im weirdly looking forward to watching the game as a neutral. A draw would be shite for both teams so they will be going out for a win which should set up an entertaining match hopefully

I must admit Arsenal look comfortable through out the match, but liverpool was hardly a threat at all just in late tackles our backline won the match with defending and scoring didn`t see that coming and I`m happy v.Persie didn`t get away with that disgraceful act.
In an interview the ref got dizzy due to watching Arsenal`s passing abilities .He also said how he`s amazed how more teams don`t fall while chasing Arsenal ball shadows.Sometimes you need to stick your leg out and hope the ball touches and deflects.

No ref should say those thing:mrgreen:

Thanks WEtongelre.

It was like taking candy from a baby, they tried to match us but we were just too good for them.

Fabregas and Flamini run the midfield easy. Hleb had a v.good game, but Kolo Toure was awesome yet again.

We simply need to be consistant and beat the smaller clubs who play for a draw.

I'll tell you who played his skin out yesterday, Gilberto. Unsung hero of that game i tell you, if you watch it again, his work rate is truly phenominal.

how was Clichy? I heard the commentators givin him some criticism... i didn't watch all of it, but i did see him pull off a nice run down to the box... heh he didn't know what to do with the ball haha =)

your right Gilberto was everywhere.

Clichy was good too, he can use his left foot unlike Ca$$hly Cole. He had Gerrard in his pockect first half. Pennant managed to get a couple of crosses in though.

yup. Clichy's run into the box was great, but i think he got scared/confused as to what to do. I thought he'd take Carragher on his left, and then hit the ball with the left foot, but he went inside (like A Cole the A Hole).

Clichy needs to stay on his feet. His lunge at Pennant let Pennant through towards the end of the game with the Bellamy goal (that was ONSIDE).

Pennant got pissed off as Clichy had him a couple of times, and took it out on Flamini.

Loved Henry's tracking back on Bellamy. His face was classic everytime Henry robbed him.

according to the turkish press and a players agent who was live on tv yesterday, arsene wenger is observing besiktas defender gökhan zan.did you read anything about that in the english press?

Arsenal get linked with the world and his grandma mate. The curse of being a high profile club...

Gallas and Toure look to be the CB pairing of choice now that Clichy is back. They seem to compliment each other well as they are both the mobile althelic defender type, as opposed to the big-rock centre back, ala Senderos. What does that mean for Big Phil? And Djourou? I hope they don't get too restless on the bench. Having said that they're both young and have plenty of time ahead of them.

Do all these girls know your flaunting all their pictures all over a football forum, dispersing information about them?

Bk on topic. Arsene Wenger reveals his real reasons for losing his temper with West Ham manager Alan Pardews.

''I was disgusted at ze treatment we received at West Ham. Our players are used to playing in a quiet, respectful atmosphere in which we can discuss tactics, compare our nice gloves, and scream loudly to let the referee know we've been tackled and need a free kick.

The atmosphere at Upton Park was little short of hostile. The opposing fans sang, shouted and cheered in a manner we are not uzed to. Almost all of them stayed for the whole game, too. This was strange to us; it doesn't happen back at ze Al Qaeda Stadium.

In addition, our bag man left the team's glove bag back at Gonfraburton Grove, meaning that many of our players were playing with cold hands, and some of them cried.

My dispute with Alan Pardew was over his comments following their goal. "Did you see that?" he shouted. This was insulting. He must know that I see NOTHING on the pitch, unless it is a poor decision against Arsenal. And I am NOT a bad loser, whoever said that..." Yees sometimes I like to watch ze boys in the showers but when they lose they get changed straight away and don't have showers and that is why I got angry with Mr Pardew because now I have to go home to my wife, and make her wear ze Thierry mask and pretend."

wow.

Just wondering but what has happened to Julio (the beast) Baptista. Is he injured or can he just not get in the team?

Thats a shame, but if he was fit i doubt he would play regulary with the likes of Rosicky and van Persie ahead of him.

While on the subject of Baptista what do Arsenal fans think about him, better than Reyes? Wenger must think highly of him as he wanted him last season.

Alucard you are a voyeur, obsessed with Wenger and all things Arsenal. Are you a closet Gooner by chance?

Wow you got me figured. Clockender you are a transvestite addicted to cocaine and heroine. Are you boy george by chance?

I like Baptista personally but I'm not convinced as to where he's going to fit into the team.

I think Wenger wanted him last season to replace a bit of muscle in the side after we lost Paddy. Now however we have an established midfield duo of Gilberto and Fabregas which seems to be the mainstay of the side. Baps has too much of an attacking mindset to play Gilberto's position, and he's surely unlikely to oust Fabulous from the starting 11. I can only think he's an alternative option when we play against more ruff and tumble sides and when Fab is injured or needs a rest. Whether this will be enough for him remains to be seen.

He could play as one of the central three in a five man midfield, but then that leaves one of our strikers on the bench, all of whom need games to improve. It'll be interesting to see what Wenger does with him when fit.

I bet he could easily be turned into a Andy Johnson-type striker.
Imagine a player like that partnering Henry.

Good match from Senderos against Brazil. He had a good chance for the 2:2 but he missed. Brazil won 2:1

Big mistake by Djourou and the goalkeeper, Kaka made the 2:0
