ArmA 2: for PC and Xbox 360.

1.00 campaign was a bit buggy but 1.01 already made some good improvements (EU 505 version will be 1.01 out of the box) 1.02 is due to be released around the same time it's in EU stores so should make even further improvements to bug fixing and optimising.

Even outside the campaign there's lots more SP content, you can also play online modes as SP with the AI taking other slots, even DM/TDM and such :)

You can also play COOP so you don't need to worry about getting slaughtered, well except by the AI ;) The whole campaign can be played COOP.

There won't be anything new until the time when a console version is signed to a publisher and has a release date because we're not allowed to talk about it until that point because of some developer rules and such, I think the only thing that ever leaked was that a 360 version was being worked on.

havent been around the world a lot yet, but are there any high cliffs in the game where i could drive my cars down? used to do that in the original flashpoint, especially in mp there were a lot of fun situations. ;)

I have my concerns about this. It's meant to be a realism simulation but we get videos of people standing on air force planes and car towers? wtf? Also, when people get shot it looks like half life 1. very very poor. look up the sniping videos on youtube to see what i mean.

Whats the general opinion - this or OFP2?

For arma2, is this rendered or ingame: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/south-zagoria-arma-ii/43779#comments_top

Amazing graphics, shame about the physics and animations.

LOL that's called a moddable engine, people are simply using the "attachto" editing command which allows you to attach one object to another object for any purpose an editor might think of. Carrying someone is an example of the attachto scripting command being used, another is soldiers sitting on top of a BMP or even this:

Nothing you will find for ArmA2 is rendered/CGI, only ingame, we don't release rendered content as it's simply lying to your gamers and trying to fool them into believing you can make something you can't.

Ah ok. Was thinking some of the things looked a bit moddish...Nevertheless, in every video I see the game will look photorealistic at points and then completely cack in another. Whats the deal? And are the animations really as bad as they look placebo?

Thought to put a smile on Placebo's lovely face, so I got me a version yesterday :)

Running pretty nice over here on very high/high settings @1920x1200 with 100% Fillrate and ~2500m view distance(E8400@3,6 Ghz, ATi 4870 1GB, 4GB RAM, latest Windows 7 64-bit build). Still getting some FPS hits in urban environments but here's hoping some patches will squeeze some more FPS out of it soon.

Anyway, haven't played much yet as I haven't had much time, so I only tried out some scenario missions and joined some MP matches just to take a glimpse at what's going on. Oh, and I LOVE the 3rd-person-view, I think I'll stick to it since it also seems to boost the framerate compared to the 1st-person-perspective.

Anyway, that's all for now, but it's nice to have the BI Community Manager right in front of my nose in case I need him ;)

Is there a replay editor of some sort with this game or have they put that video together using other people or used the AI/editor and placed objects around? I know you won't know what they've done but if there is no replay option then I'd guess it's made with the editor and ai/humans.

Nice, glad you're enjoying it, 1.02 should be released around 19th/20th so will improve things even further :)

See, there's a reason you keep me around ;)

There's not a replay editor but there's the mission editor which is where people create many of the cool missions you see in youtube videos, it is also used to create cutscenes for the missions.

Jonney yes Windows7 runs the game very well.

Demo should be released early next week, Monday or Tuesday possibly, will be about 2gb and give people a good look at the game, SP and MP I believe :)
