Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.
He looks more technically gifted too. Wingers are probably all we need when you think about it. (And maybe a keeper but its not important at the moment)
We have a brilliant defence, 3 top strikers plus some great young prospects, we just need our midfield to click. In the center I think we're fine with Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs (whenever he plays there), Hargreaves (whenever he's fit), its just Anderson that needs to step up another gear. But other than its fine. So that just leaves the wingers like I said. Its probably our weakest department.
Well let's think about it, the defence has been shocking this year (granted the selection has been mixed and that's hindered everything). We still have no first choice right back, Nev, Rafael and Brown all seem to just love having time on the sidelines, and when Rafael plays I'm always worried because the guy cannot defend for shit.
O'Shea can play there, and I love the guy for his versatility but it's a bit of a problem when he's a horrible footballer wherever he plays. One more hoofed ball up to absolutely noone and I might just kill him after the match I swear.
Rio and Vida seem to be smoking something chronic this year as well. Rio is just off his head (or injured) and Vida has been affected by that, or possibly by the Barca rumours who knows? Evans really impressed me last year, but again if he's gonna be great he needs a full run in the team and won't get that unless one of the other two leaves.
Then we've got the midfield, and although Scholes and especially Giggs have been good (and at times fantastic this year), lets face it, if we get one more year out of them after this we'll be damn lucky.
Fletcher is the only guy I trust in our midfield because you can simply rely on him, but Carrick is liable to have a shit game or two every so often (especially in big games), and at times he'll go off the boil for a while like the end of last year/start of this year. Anderson can't be trusted (he'll come good I'm convinced, but not right now), Hargreaves will take time to return and even then that leaves us the problem of filling Giggs and Scholes' creativity which quite frankly I really don't think we have. I mean, Carrick is a great passer of the ball, but he's not a patch on those two, and therefore we have noone else.
I'm not even gonna talk about the wingers because unless Obertan is absolutely, miraculously wonderful and hits the ground running, we don't have anyone who will actually beat a man. And plus the fact crossing doesn't seem to work since Rooney and Berbatov like to have the ball to their feet, and lets face it we're lucky if either is actually in the box most of the time.
Speaking of them two, neither can be trusted to get us 20 league goals because they're not out and out strikers, you'll be pretty lucky if either gets 20 goals in a season as well in reality. Then you've only trully got Owen capable of backup, but he'll probably be injured anyway and he can't play with Rooney. Wellbeck and Macheda are prospects and nothing more, they're nowhere near good enough to be trully useful to us just yet.
So basically we don't really have that great a squad, especailly not one that'll frighten European opposition of any caliber. Sounds like I'm horribly over-reacting but it's just an opinion.
....and Mame Biram Diouf too Rune...I'm always excited for forwards....plus he looks like 50 Cent.
Three words for this bloke that we should all be weary of.
John. Obi. Mikel.
