Why was PES 5 and 6 online so much better?

The reason why the English servers are empty because too many English people and as well as people from the UK play FIFA. FIFA 09 for example even though it may suck on the PC it still brings huge popularity because everywhere there are advertisements here especially in the UK adboards in premier league matches, etc you see "LETS FIFA 09" advert.

PES is very unpopular in the UK. Many people don't even know that PES is available on the PC that's how unpopular it is. And I know the UK is not the only English speaking country but even if you were wondering why there are no players from the United States again Football aint popular in the states.

PES is popular amongst Other European countries and Asia. But sadly not in the UK

Well I don't agree that pes is unpopular in the UK. I can remember when I used to play Pes04. I used to be part of a fantasy league and we would meet up in the chatroom every night and there was literally at least 50 people in the room everytime. Unfortunately Konami took out Direct IP and as a result it's popularity online bombed. Most people probably now just play it offline.

Bring back direct IP. I can remember someone using blitz basic, forgot his name created a neat Pes04 utilty that acted as a chat room and also automatically launched the game once you had chosen your opponent. It was a lot more fun than using konamis servers, as we used to have knockout tournaments, but Konami put and end to that. Those were the good old days. Sigh!!!!!

Direct IP is a must, i want to have fun with my friends for a long time. I could not give a damn about those silly ranking.
