Why so little improvement for next generation consoles Konami ?

Is it just me or has anyone else realised why there’s so little improvement in the past year ?
Ill tell you why! last year there was no editor in the Xbox360 version it rightly caused uproar and there was just a few stadiums. This year we get an editor but its next to useless and we get a few more stadiums.
Heres the deal they could give you a cracking editor they have in the past but they don’t want to same with Stadiums they could give us loads but they don’t want to. There could be better crowd graphics and snow once again they don’t want to.

Why Not - Easy because they want to drip feed us with it over the next 2 or 3 games. The next few versions of Pro evo will have a better editor and a few more teams perhaps it will have snow Pro evo 10 will have an even better editor a few more licensed teams and perhaps muddy shirts. Yes then can do it all right now but they wont because they are lazy and they will make it look like great improvements each year AKA Ripp Off Are you sceptical? think about this they have had a full year to fix the editor do you really believe that’s all they could program in that time? I don’t think so it’s a case of don’t give them to much keep em hungry. Seabass or whatever hes called will lie back and light up another cigar .
Made me think of that Building society add where the guy is told the customers are like fish you hook them (With great gameplay for example ) and when there hooked you throw them in the keep net and they stay there. Well im going over to Fifa now and ill be renting Pro Evo 09 when the game is released next year to see what improvements you have included Konami. You have done me over once to often and im onto your game. Anyone else feel ripped off?

Yes all we loyal fans of PES have been totally ripped off by Konami. I'm sure other hardcore PES fans will agree that this years fiasco is very bad...if they are honest. I'm not sure if Konami really want to produce and real simulation of football with great depth etc. They seem to be going down the poor quality/rip-off style of EA (resulting in me totally giving up on any EA game).

I hope Konami know just how pissed of their customers are this year. OK back to PES6 for me.

seems like every one sticking with pes 6 and why not its superb and we have all modded to the hilt....good times!!!\\:o/

This game is way passed it's prime...

PES 2008 is so incredible boring. Been there, done that! In FIFA there's an option to set passing or shooting on goal to manual. This makes a world of difference. In PES I can do all of these things with my eyes closed. Where is the challenge? It all feels (and is) so scripted. After playing PES games over the years I know exactly what the opposition will and won’t do. Boring as hell!

With goalkicks, why can you actualy move the goalkeeper in “all” directions when you play a short pass but it ALWAYS ends up going to the same player, in FIFA you can pass to any player you like.

The speed is insane, almost funny at times. Sprinting should me called ‘Mega Turbo Extreem Steroid sprinting’ instead. It’s not even arcady anymore it’s beyond that!

Why is everything so bright? Where is the next gen lighting? No shadows? The visuals lack depth because of this.

And more shocking are all the gamers and professional gaming journalists praising this game, defending features that they used to bash when they were in FIFA. I believe you call these people biased. I have yet to read one honest PES or FIFA review. FIFA still gets killed and PES gets the usual praise it doesn’t deserve this year. Even big sites like IGN.com walk this path of unfairness.

Anyway, I’m pretty much done with this game. Hope Seabass can turn this once great game upside down, inside out, basically throw it out with the garbage and start all over again and make a true next-gen PES in 2009 (probably wishfull thinking). Get off your laizy ass and deliver. If this guy was working for EA they would’ve replaced him years ago.

Two or three years ago EA new they didn’t have the depth in the gameplay like PES (at that time), so they added a bunch of Japanese programmers to the team to help them in that department. Maybe Konami can do the same: add a group of western designers and art director to help them with what they’re missing.

Totally agree with first post, and I found myself last night back on pes6 and enjoying it. Funny seeing ive got pes 2008 on pc and 360?

I've decided not to buy PES 2008 this year.
After forking out for the second rate, half a game that is PES6,
i hoped konami would make amends with this version.
After Seabass gave that interview where he said himself that this game is dissappointing, I thought I wouldn't even bother with it.

Apparently PES2009 will be a proper next gen title.
So I am going to wait and see whether they do finally delivery a proper game.

Why we don't have 16-way directional control over players, as opposed to old-gen 8-way directional control I really don't know.

I'm going to just continue playing Rainbow 6 till next year's PES shows up.

The best way we can show our dissappointment to Konami is to not purchase PES2008 - they will soon start getting in touch with major forums to see what we want. Until we take positive action like this, we will get poor games year in year out.

The trouble is that FIFA will never come close to being a proper competitor for Konami, so Konami will never have to work hard to take on a competitor.

Sure, so they can lose a lot of money and not be able to do the changes the the production team that is necessary.

How do you know we will get poor games every year?

They aren't removing features from the game. Next-gen PES is a new game, and it takes time to program all the features they want. PES 2008 is much better than the PES 6 version we had on xbox 360 last year.

Konami should do some internal changes in the development team to be able to speed up development. They are already talking about doing so. We will see what they will deliver next year... I'm sure it will be great.

I'm not worried about people going from PES to FIFA. They are usually just the people who can't see the good gameplay, and only talks about untucked shirts, menu music and running animations. If you love the gameplay, then those things are not very interesting at all. If looks is all you care about, then FIFA is there for you.

And I think Konami should NOT go to the major forums, at least not evo-web which in my eyes is just a FIFA fanboy vs PES fanboy forum.

Konami are making PES for too many formats now, it was alot better when it was PS2 exclusive.

If PES2009 gets announced for PS2 again I won't bother with it cause I know the next-gen versions will be sloppy again.

Yes, it's time to say goodbye to the PS2 version. I can't see why they should continue with that one.

At last, something we agree on...

Just out of interest, does anybody know how long the PS2 versions of PES sold for before they stopped making PSone versions?

if you have a look onto the sales, there is NO reason to drop the PS2 !
That's our problem: too less next (current) gen users !

This is pretty accurate. Once upon a time they were effectively releasing 1 game on one format once per year. Now they're releasing several games on several formats each year.

In addition we're not very patient in regards to current/next gen. We see it as an evolution from the previous generations. When you look at Evo on PS2 we saw it develop over 6 versions (and now into the seventh). Excluding the half baked effort on the 360 last year this is release 1.5 for the current generation systems. Granted there's some things that are inexcusable (not as bad as not being able ot save replays on PES6 on the 360).

It's funny how ignorant people last year were saying that Konami really only cared about Sony, and we'd only see a proper next-gen version of the game once they were creating one for the PS3. How wrong they turned out to be! The PS3 version is the same as the 360 version though with some shocking slow-down that affects the actual playing of games.

This was the problem with the last one...the only way konami will take notice is if you don't buy it. Buy Fifa instead. I used to hate it but compared to the way konami have prduced their last 2 efforts it is way better. Gameplay is similar now and you can do more tricks easier. The AI is better and you get tons of proper leagues with reasonably up to date squads and proper strips... what do konami give you compared to pes6...even less than previous versions.

cus next gen ones apart from graphics are crap
why the hell they cant give you a proper editor to create realistic kits and
the same amount of stadiums as ps2 with next gen graphics is beyond me.
and also a bottle of weed and feed you could by in pes shop to use and make that bloody grass greener!!!

I find it really ammusing that IGN.COM voted said and rated the following...

PES2008 = 9.2/10
"That said, Pro Evo 2008 is still simply the best football game we’ve played. It’s realistic, intelligent and hugely enjoyable"

HOW?!
WHY?!

oh...thats right
IGN are acutal sponers of PES2008!!!
(look at the half time stats screen!)

the only review i liked and belived was the review that gave it 6/10 for PS3 and 7/10 for 360...
CAN'T remmeber the site though where i read it!!!

POOR POOR WORK KONNAMI!!!
EVEN POORER is the blind folk saying this game is perfect!!!
:applause:

I agree with the guys who believe in the theory....new console means years to get it right. The ps2 took >2.

whoa, havent seen jonboyo in awhile...

i still havent played the full game yet but for PS2 i remember the difference between WE7 and WE8 and it was a pretty big jump.

whoa, havent seen jonboyo in awhile...

yeah, i was lucky enough to join evo-web when legendary jonboyo made his last true patch, for PES3!

back then, this was thee exclusive editor's site.
now everyone's an art critic or a game critic. sheeesh.

jonboyo, i'm in your school of thought. sad how people have short memories these days and want instant gratification.
