Who's your favourite ML Default?

Of my squad of twenty players (PES 3, Playstation 2), in Division 1 of the Master League, eight of the players are default guys and Macco has recently replaced Espinas as my favourite default player.
Macco is a press football beast on the pitch, has set up several goals this season, by winning the ball very high up the pitch. And he scores a few as well.:LOVE::LOVE:

Well, many of them will forever be in my memories... But, of all the defaults, Ruskin will always have a special place in my heart.

Espinas as DM , Great physically and has a strong shot on him.

So sad how stats, style and fatigue were so obvious in the old days compared to the scripted mess we get nowadays ..... Shameless Konami

Can we get a poll? :D

Ivarov
Valeny
Jaric
Stremer
Dodo
Iouga
Espimas
Ximelez
Minanda
Ordaz
Castolo
Lothar
Zamenhof
Ceciu
Libermann
Ruskin
Giersen
Stein
Macco
Fouque
Burchet
Hamsun
Huylens
Baumann
El Moubarki
Van den Berg
Ettori
Gutierrez

I think my favorites were Minanda and Ximelez, with Castolo and Huylens close in 2nd.
But when i look at the whole team i end up missing them all. And the japanese commentary pronouncing their names. :D

And back when football was all about 4-4-2 or 3-5-2/5-3-2.
Such good years...

Njord scored a stoppage time goal for me in a 1-0 win on my first ISSpro2 ML, he also assisted Miranda to a goal in my second game, deffo starting to appreciate him :)

Libermann for his sheer fockin size. He had some actual utility, some actual use in PES 5/6 ML where default team is beyond useless.

In my last PES 5 default team start I have gained some appreciation for Dodo who has developed a bit and was relatively good at the DMF destroying incoming enemies.

Recently in PES 3 I have to mention Huylens and Castolo, their speed was much needed in breaking through some defences early game. They are infinitely better compared to their PES 5/6 selves.

Ximelez was an absolute diamond.
Are we able to edit the ML originals? So we could potentially re-create them?

My absolute favourite was Ruskin, I kept him on Pes 5 and 6 til he retired, he ended up with 92 stamina and 89 top speed, very useful and he never missed a game unless injured or suspended

They are total duds in PES 6 alright, but most players in PES 6 are slow and baggy.

He is great but I may need to sell him, looking at GAME OVER again in season 2. Giersen is great as well. The rest of the team are the old guard from PES 2 and 3. Macco, Celnili and Espinas are the only ones doing anything.

Bump.

Regards to that PES ML quiz I got Ruskin. Personally I'd say I'm physically like Burchet; fast but with terrible stamina, also a late developer in general ^^

Castolo, no doubt about it for me :)

Well, maybe I am partial to him because I am South American, but moreso than his stats, I always pictured him as having an outsized, larger than life, super charismatic personality. Samba-ing his way through life, a player with a true connection with the fans and his Brazilian Carnival roots! :GSCARF:

Very cool thread, BTW!

I've gone back to PES 6 recently, and am in the 4th or 5th season...only Dodo and Jaric still make it in the starting 11. Ivarov, Ruskin, Stein and Espimas on the bench. Wanted to keep Castolo, but had to sell him as he's one of the only ones that fetched a decent price to fund a re-build (Park Chu-Young FTW :D) Had to say goodbye to everyone else, too old or not good enough

Valeny was my man, my captain at CB. He’d mentor the young signings Heitinga and Koltarii until they formed their own partnership, then remain as a reliable backup until his retirement (or regeneration!)

Ruskin was my super reliable “club man”, filling in for the oft injured or off form Maxwell or at LB.

Ivarov would inevitably stay at the club after a few seasons as no.1 to perform an eventual 3rd choice / GK coach role.

I enjoyed the love/hate reference to Castolo earlier in the thread - so often the source of anguish after the defence had worked so tirelessly on keeping the opponents out. Yet would at times be the hero of the day as we broke with pace.

I built the foundations from the back - usually Ivarov; Dagaka - Valeny - Koltarii - Ruskin to fight for those early draws and slow build up of PES points. Then I finally could bring in the best, Mr Kaiser to help us drive forward. I would occasionally miss out on his signing and give up playing for a while!

Good memories.

PS: saw this article a little while ago about the default players and where they are now. A short but fun read 😊.

I feel guilty only choosing one but Castolo, Espimas, Jaric and Huylens stand out for me.

Castolo was always a key player for those first couple of seasons until you could afford a better striker. Even then I still used to keep him as a backup purely out of sentiment.

Espimas for his versatility and energy in that first season, he was always a key player when you first started up.

In the later versions, Jaric had a decent development trajectory. I remember in one of my saves he was 80+ OVR and captained the club, think I played over 8 seasons and he was still our main CB. His free kicks too 👌🏼

Huylens was always a great impact sub and scored some important goals in those first couple of seasons where you need to nick a win or a draw.

Massive nostalgia and loads of memories reading through this thread. It is amazing and sad at the same time that a bunch of randomised default names made us all so happy. Hard to think now that something so simple made us all so engaged and provided us with so many memories. Give me that any day over hyper motion or 1v1.

Doubt we will ever see anything like it again.
