England won the World Cup in 1966 - so what? We are crap now but pundits always bring up that bloody year. I want to see us win something NOW! It's the same with L'pool supporters, you just bring up history. Did you see the Reds win all them league titles in your signature? No. Liverpool in my opinion are a good, not great team at the moment. I would rather play you lot every week than Arsenal or Chelsea. That speaks volumes.

As for "without Fergie United would be no better than Everton" - you don't KNOW that. You have no evidence to prove that point. Also, Sir Matt Busby is a legend. He took us to win our first (and the first for any English football club) European Cup but you don't hear us going on about it because NOW is what's important. I want to see my team winning major trophies NOW. :)

You really do not get football do you. There is more to it then simply being good or attractive. You are too caught up in the world of playstations, sponsorships, media orgasms and ole football. It is no wonder people call you a glory hunter. I would rather play Bucharest, Bruges and Dortmund everyweek because they actually have a soul.

You don't go on about your EC's purely because you have less than Liverpool's. FACT. It is the one thing that bugs Alex. You can not call yourselves a bigger club than Real Madrid, when financially and support wise you are pretty much equal, yet they blow you out of the water in terms of success.

Just because you didn't see something, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

If we were in league 2 atm I'd still believe Liverpool FC pisses over Manchester United. And its more to do with the fact that I constanly listen to articles and opinions on Liverpool by our fans that are so absurdly passionate, humorous, that scream devotion, loyalty and respect

This is in direct contrast to boasting about how many of our players get into a world 11, or counting how many back heels and slide rule passes in the run up to any of our goals.

I dont agree with much about what your talking about, the whole thing about you'd rather play some teams cause they actually have a soul? LMAO ok so your not happy with our success and the fact we our english footballs top dogs (and have been for the past decade) but to say we have no soul as a club is just wrong and stupid, i could say the same for yours as the people that own your club are ready to sell it right now to make a quick buck so why doesyour club have more soul than ours? so you say you would still think Liverpool would the bigger team if you lot were in division 2? well that is just silly as on what levels? of winning trophies years ago? ok i see how this could be used as a point if our club had NO history but thats not the case we have tones of history maybe not as much as yours but we still do and were now making history on levels higher than ever. you also said you read articles and opinions of fans who our passionate etc ? so your saying United has no passionate fans? it seems as if you simply hate us cause were a bigger club than liverpool now and that you just envy us for that :) well if thats the case cool but no need for the extra crap you wrote about no passionate fans and the club having no soul

Pete what the hell are you on about? Where did I say anything about being attractive? That's all in your head mate. You are such a bitter man. I know my football mate, I have loved it for nearly 20 years now and I love Man United. I watched us transform from a rubbish side in the 80s to the brilliant team we are now. You can't seem to see further than Liverpool FC. If we were both in League 2 you'd piss all over us? From what evidence?

I'm merely explaining why I support Liverpool because you lot find the prospect of supporting the team inexplicable.

That's fair enough mate. I find the prospect of supporting any team bar United inexplicable because this is all I have ever known. No other team gives me as much joy and/or grief. :)

TBH I think its a bout time we just shut the fuck up and respected each others acheivements. United and Liverpool have both offered class and pedigree to football, and to foreigners, the two clubs ARE English football, with Arsenal sneaking up too!

I'm just a bit emotional. I honestly feel sick atm thinking about football. I need a break!

Player: Most probably Nedved. He is all about hard tackles against opponents, and whining whenever an opponent just touches him.
I'd have said Materazzi, everyone knows why.. But to be honest, when he scored that goal against Czech it was.. great, I forgave him for everything. Instantaneously.
Coach: no way, he must be Domenech. he offends everyone USES to defeat him and this is way enough.
Mancini also deserves a mention, but at least he doesn't do anything bad.. he just whines continuously..
Club team: FC Inter. They pretend to be honest, but nowadays football in Italy is worse than it used to be in the Moggi era. Do I need to say anything else?
And well, Marseille is the perfect runner-up.
National team: there's not a national team I dislike more than an other, but if I had to say I'd say France. They are a very good team, but they act like they are the best team in the world, and they're not.
Well, I have nothing against Sweden and Denmark but they are on the podium. That 2-2 at Euro 2004 stinks.

Yeah, well Benfica are shit mate...;)

Typical English arrogance and ignorance...disguised as humour, but nonetheless
To quite a lot of English football fans there is nothing outside English football...that's why it always seems a national disasterwhen your national does not qualify for a major tournament...it's not because you people invented football that your teams are the best...quite a lot English fans take success for granted...

You know, Tuta, it's not only Domenech.. some players during the Euro 2008 qualifiers declared some things that I didn't like at all, and that's why I think they're arrogant someway..

I consider France a very good team, and I can also justify the behaviour of those players: in the end it's all about neighbourhood, I hope you understand what I mean. Getting defeated by your neighbour, in a world cup/euro final, hurts more than getting defeated by Brazil..

But that's exactly why if I have to choose a team I'd choose France.. nothing personal of course!!

What you have just wrote there is borderline racist.

Don't you fucking dare try and judge me with such sanctimonious and arrogant shit.
It's because of provocative posts like yours why arguments are created and NOT because of mine.
Special one responded with a great response back because HE understood it was a topical joke and also Plan M responded with applause too and also understood.

Who the fuck asked you?

Everyone who read my post would see it was of course humour and completely and utterly innocent and lighthearted.

Anyone that has read my other posts would know how much I appreciate the foreign game and know my thoughts on English football.
Have you even bothered reading my thread in the England 'xenephobia' thread for example?!

In fact I don't even know why I am sitting and justifying myself to you.
I know we disagree on a lot of things, but am I ever as judgemental with you or disrespect you or your posts in such a fashion?
Dude, you are way wrong here.

Apologies mods and other members for this, but this post by gerd was completely judgemental, totally innacure and down right rude.

Please refrain from being so much so in the future gerd.

But in all fairness, with West Ham's size and support,- if we played in the Portuguese league, I think we would have also challenged for many titles in the past;)

Sorry, I was wrong. Benfica won 31 leagues.
Leagues: 35/36, 36/37, 37/38, 41/42, 42/43, 44/45, 49/50, 54/55, 56/57, 59/60, 60/61, 62/63, 63/64, 64/65, 66/67, 67/68, 68/69, 70/71, 71/72, 72/73, 74/75, 75/76, 76/77, 80/81, 82/83, 83/84, 86/87, 88/89, 90/91, 93/94, 04/05

Now you are just getting cocky...

At least we have John Paintsil and you don't!!!

He comes from Africa.... he's better than Kaka... John Painstill woooaahh!!\\:o/:lol:

I don't see why my reply should be "borderline racist"...it wasn't intended to be. But nonetheless if you feel offended by my post: i sincerely apologize.
I was merely trying to discuss some things.
In this same thread someone say s something along the line of " for much continental people the English clubs are the best (or the premiership is the best)..." First of all that is as much a generalisation as what i mentioned bit i don't see it as borderline racist. Secondly: i can assure you that for much (and maybe most) continental football that is not true...here in Belgium most people rate the Italian and the Spanish league higher than the Premiership (i myself like the Premiership enormously but i'm not convinced it's the best either and i regard English clubs as big underachievers in Europe consdiering their financial wealth...).

The same with your argument about West Ham United in the Portugese league, once again i don't want to offend you, but compared to Benfica and Porto West Ham are dwarves...outside the big four i see only Everton and Manchester City as contenders for a Portugese title...but i admit that this is highly subjective and will never be proven...

And once again: if i offended you...i'm very sorry. I was not trying to be insulting towards you or other English people but sometimes as a foreigner i perceive something i will call "arrogance" (which is to put it too strong but as a non native speaker i can't find a better word)regarding English clubs and the national team...your teams are not as good as quite a lot of English fans think...

But hey...it's only football and pub talk.

Steevio, I was just correcting my error.

I know mate, I shoulda used a wink after I wrote the cocky bit;)

Gerd, I just think maybe you could be a little less judgemental because it's unfair at times.

I know we are small compared to those clubs, but with time and history we may have well developed in much the same way and grown to a bigger club.
To take your example, West Ham and Man City are very similar in size of clubs so there is much to debate really... but as you have said it's all theoretical and subjective and basically an interesting, but ultimately pointless argument!!

I am not so much offended, just dissapointed that you have singled me out and I have always been someone that is the complete opposite to the English stereotype you speak of;)

Have a read of my post in the xenephobia thread if you haven't already mate. Not for any real reason other than to see if you views change:)

I've read your post in the xenophobia thread...it's a good post.
i was even touched by the part about Solskjaer...
You clearly are not a chauvinist...

And i'll try to be less judgemental...your right on that count...must be old age.
