Pentium 4 is most likely your problem.

PES aint about powerful high end graphics...its about mammoth AI calculations and that needs good performing CPU.

I have Athlon 4000+ running at 2.7Ghz
2 Gig Ram (budget ram at that)
ATI X1900XT 256Mg

solid 60fps at all times cept for the odd stutter (which as far as i am aware you will still get if you had a NASA computer running the game.

i've changed the settings to medium, getting 60fps throughout now, v-sync is not ticked

any other recommendations?

another issue is the sound, i hear music at the main menu, and before kick off, but no commentary when playing, has anybody else had this problem?

Mat your chatting rubbish I have Intel Pentium 4 processor with 3.06Ghz speed and 1024 MB RAM with ATI radeon Xpress 200 and my game RUNS so bloody smooth, infact smoother than PES 6, would you believe it.;) It might not run on high quality so well but it runs perfect on medium quality which is all I want and that is sufficient to make me happy.
I don't know what fps is but anyway I don't really care since my game runs fine and ball flies like in a real life atmosphere.

Too much perfection does not make a human being happy, but only negative and ungrateful thoughts creep out of your minds eventually leading to depression and loss of the believe of GOD.

Right...it runs smooth on medium quality. It seems that our friend has it running smooth on medium quality also. Bottom line is that with PC gaming, there can be any number of bizarre and unthinkable reasons why games will not run well on supposedly wunder-rigs. However, alwys best to start with the most obvious faults. i.e. Hardware limitations. Dont care what you say, not only are Pentium 4 dated CPU's, but they havve never been known to be good CPU's for gaming performance.

everything is working fine now guys, even commentary, but when in edit mode, a players faces is really blurry, any tips on how to smooth out the appearance in edit mode? (because in game, the players look fine)

The only reason why I aint got mine working very well on high quality is because my Graphic Card is old Ati Xpress 200 isn't from the latest ones. Now your saying intel pentium 4 processors are not goodd for gaming performance, look at this link
If im going to play games in the future im going to buy a PS4 when its released in a few years time. The PC isn't even suitable for gaming ask all computer engineers. If it works fine, it works if it doesn't you have to upgrade it and at the end of the day it costs more then buying a console.
http://www.intel.com/buy/ultimate-gaming-pc.htm

Even gaming pcs aren't that good, Consoles are better for gaming although I aint got one. I read the EA forums people always say get a PS3 or an Xbox, and they laugh about PC games. Now I even tried to defend the crappiness out of computers by saying no play PES its much better then you think and people say no on the consoles its even better.
Every gaming PC sucks even from the highest quality and you have to upgrade graphic card, ram, pixel shader etc
PES 6 runs very smoothly on the highest quality. And untill Core2due processors werent in the market Intel pentium4 dominated if it wasn't that good how comes when you look at the system requirements at the back of your CD case on pes 2008 most games not just pes 6 and pes 2008 it says SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (RECOMMENDED) INTEL Pentium |V 3.0Ghz or higher. If it was an outdated processor it wouldn't have been in this game. I made System Requirements lab tests in the Systemrequirementslab.com And I always see 5 out 5 for the reccomended specs for this processor.
heres specs for the reccomended http://www.avirtualexit.com/2007/09...ro-evolution-soccer-2008-system-requirements/
You just want to suppress people that's it, but im not one of those people who is going to be intimidated.

Clearly, not a veteran gamer

No i wont look at that link. Instead of looking at a link that where the manufacturer tells you how great their own products are...

Why dont you visit..

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/

and see for yourself how shit the P4's are in the various benchmarks when compared with their much cheaper and much better gaming performing AMD Athlon 64 contemporaries.

It is true that in the past PC gamers have basically had to put up with resource hogging inefficient coding in their games that have always required way more processing power to run them than really should be necessary. But it is also true that PC games have always tended to be by far the most advanced and the most immersive for their time. Gothic, BF2, Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft and dozens more top notch titles that never seen the light of day on consoles or if they did, then in very watered down forms.

With the introduction of the Next-Gen consoles (especially the PS3), for the first time in a very long time, we are seeing gaming consoles with more raw power than all but the most insanely high end gaming PC's. However, at the moment, this is kind of irrelevant as no coders have worked out how to get the best out of these machines (especially not the PS3). And by the time they have, mark my words, the power of yer average half decent PC gaming rig will have overtaken them and the most immersive games for hardcore gamers will continue to be produced for the PC.

PC games will always be the pioneering force in gaming simply because the available technology is constantly expanding at a rapid rate which is why a GFX card u pay £300 for can be worth not even £100 in just 12-18 months time. This means games developers who are always looking to do new things are getting a constant new supply of toys to play with. in 5 years time, PS3 will still be PS3, XBOX360 will still be XBOX360. But gaming PC's then will make high end rigs today seem like laughable pieces of shit.

Where did I write "Clearly not a veteran gamer"??? lol you now edited my quote how funny:lol:

Yes I went to that site but really what is the point of it? There isn't anything saying that P4 processors are shit Technology is constantly developing. And im not going to stay all my life with a pentium 4 processor lol who knows maybe something super greats gonna come in the future which will make the current PCs look like junk.

But really this processor does not fall below recommended specs of any game a www.systemrequirementslab.com will show you Absolutely everygame in the market says Pentium 4 processor (recommended) or higher system specs. Graphic Card is the most important thing not the processor. And i agree my Ati Radeon Xpress 200 isn't as good as the latest one but it does the job, but the processor isn't shit nor do they say in the system lab test to upgrade your processor or to buy a new PC.
And looking at the http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/cpu-charts/3d-studio-max-8,291.html that you just posted it doesn't make IP4 processors sh!t it just shows comparisons with the latest processors to this one. Pentium 4 is good but the latest ones are even better that's what it simply means by that chart.
