What is your favourite football stadium in the world?

Three Times.

Its beautiful, but its naff at the same time.

Brilliant financially for yous lot though.

Which is exactly what the new Anfield will be like...it takes years to build up history, atmosphere and sense of belonging at a new stadium.

You will find this out in due course.

I love Emirates Stadium but would rather still be Highbury...but you can't get in the way of progress.

The new anfield isn't a bowl however. Each stand will be different. And the Kop will be there larger than ever.

Granted, I dont think the atmosphere will ever be the same. But i hope by then we have standing areas re-introduced.

I'd prefer to stay at Anfield or even increase the capacity, but I realise its impossible, and a club of our size just can't operate at 40k Home Fans every game when even Sunderland gain more through gate receipts.

GOODISON PARK IS THE OLDEST STADIUM IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE.
love it for obvious reasons.

Its got to wembley for me.

so many memories of it , it was like our second home in the eighties.

I've never liked Braga.

Sure the place is unique in its surroundings, but the stands themselves are very average to look at. The atmospheres also gotta be harmed by the fact its open at both ends of the pitch. Not to mention they probably get around 3 fans turning up for each game.

Braga had a 16'000 average attendance and they had a dissapointing season.

Filadelfia Stadium in Torino, that's the old stadium of "il grande Torino"...the stadium and the pitch aren't used anymore, but in Torino there is a (mass???) movement of Torino fans who want to restore the old stadium wheras private developers want to build houses and stores on the grounds...

I think this must be a relatively "old" picture, because the stadium is a ruin nowadays.

I think this must be a relatively "old" picture, because the stadium is a ruin nowadays.

throughout the past 30 years we witnessed many attempts to "revive" the Filadelfia... but unfortunately none of them was a success (the countless change of torino f.c. ownership probably didn't help, as every time a new chairman bought the club, the projects were deleted and re-elaborated).

anyway the filadelfia is not a ruin nowadays, as through the years, a group of torino fans called "gli angeli del filadelfia" (filadelfia's angels) take care of it.... normal people spending their own money and wasting their own energies to keep the stadium alive.... theese ultras did more than all those billionaires owners torino had in the last 30 years... (old style ultras.... "good" ultras).

the 4th may 2005, the day of the 56th anniversary of the superga tragedy, there was a friendly match between torino's "old glories".... and that match was played at the filadelfia stadium... it was very touching.

as u can see in that pic u posted, the stadium has not tribune (stands) neither curve (ends), as they falled down (the stadium was bombed by the americans during the 2 world war), but those guys are still taking care of the pitch just by themselves... to keep the legend alive.

anyway talking about best stadia in europe, i completely agree with Peter. The signal uduna park is really something unique... and so borussia dortmund fans are... the perfect blend of italian passion and british composure :))

Interesting post lo zio.
I have seen a picture of Filadelfia (as a ruin) in John Foot fantastic book about Italian football (it's called "Calcio", what else...). Since this is a very recent book i thought it was aq ruin. Booth also mentioned that "nowadays" Filadelfia is used by junkies for shooting drugs...
He also mentioned the "gli angeli des filadelfia"...i've been reading that part yesterday evening (i'm reading the book for the second time, which is very rare for me, but it's a truly great book, you should read it Ben).
