Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

They aren't even animated? Thats good and bad i suppose. Good because it meant they must have spent time on other things, and bad because... well... they aren't animated :D

Even fi they were animated, I am not positive to things like that. Every time they add things like players commenting on matches, or such features, it seems apparent to me that they will become boring after a week, once you have read all the variations for the comments that are in the game. After a while you just don't care about them anymore. It's like the comments on the "Player Rating" section after a match. It is just generic comments that are chosen if certain criteria are fullfilled (like a certain amount of assists, goals, getting a red card etc). It doesn't add anything for me, beause it quickly becomes apparent how shallow they are. They might aswell just have comments purely based on the statistics, like "He got a red card", "He scored 2 goals", etc, rather than trying to make it colorful.

All IMO obviously. :)

i add few news :

- 17 balls (official and not)
- you can use the webcam for faces, Badges and Sponsors (i hope jpg for better quality)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

I'm actually glad the pub scenes are stills and not cut-scenes. I agree with Punzz, it means they've spent more time on other things. I'd hate to think they took three months to perfect the bubbles rising in the Irn Bru (or lava) they're all drinking. Although saying that, if they're just stills, they could have fixed the square glasses and cans etc... ;)

Everything coming out about the gameplay sounds good, and the edit mode sounds great as well (if you're an editor, personally the thought of taking five days snapping kits from a magazine using a webcam doesn't appeal, but those who can be arsed will make some incredible patches).

The videos from Leipzig won't be enough now, I want to play this baby...

I hope there's lots of different reactions from the guys who get to play it, with all the good news and the bad. Will be nice to have a complete picture (without any Konami employees reviews saying "it's the best game ever created").

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

For those who are maybe dissapointed about those scenes not being animations the master league menu screen looks like it has fan animations, walking across the bottom of the screen and such.

Not having pub animations..i think thats good, allows it not to get boring, a nice snapshot i dont think will get tiresome like a repetative 20 second animation of peopel going crazy, would have been fun for a few times but becom tiresome soon .

Not sure this has been clarified TG, but will the photo editor be available for PC aswell, and how exactly does it work? If you take a photo with a cam and then the game saves it as a .jpeg, will that mean that you can import pre-existing JPEGs into the game aswell (photos taken with professional cameras or just any photo jpeg you might have? Or do you have to have a webcam medium just to get the photos in (which seems really limiting, so I would guess not?).

I certainly hope they will include a function to import standalone photos, like they included an "import emblem" thingy in PES PC (in the "settings.exe").

No it doesn't. It certainly means they spent no time on cut-scenes but it doesn't mean they spent time on anything else at all. Year on year, PES seems increasingly like a quick rehash of a very few minor things, minimal effort, minimal time spent on everything to maximise profits. Face it, PES2008 is PES6 ported to PS3 with a few tweaks.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Okay then, it means there is an increased chance... Although saying that, I've always said that the art department and gameplay departments are seperate, so just because one thing is less improved doesn't mean the other thing will be more improved.

But I'm not upset that they're going to be still images anyway, put it like that.

You could say it's underhand of Konami actually; they were officially released images and they clearly gave the impression that they were cut-scenes. Of all the things to release screenshots of, they release screenshots of still images.

Apparently you can put faces, badges and sponsors from scan or pictures :8):

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Why are so many people getting excited about "new editor features" that simply mean the patches created by talented forum members over the past few years can now be created using in-game editors rather than Photoshop to compensate for the sub-standard crap graphics that Konami asked £50 for. Konami are basically relinquishing responsibility for buying and creating adequate graphics and licensed kits and handing it over to forum memebrs to sort out the embarassing mess they ask £50 for.

And they give their ancient AI the name "TeamVision" and people are getting all excited like PES2008 is something new and special.

PES2008 is the biggest rip-off in history.

Trust me, once we get gameplay videos and once the game is released, I intend to take it apart piece by piece and analyze it. ;) But untill we get videos, atleast it is good news that they have lots of balls (they had Nike, Adidas and Puma balls in PES6 aswell though, but Nike ball was only available when playing Spanish League), and features that will make it easier to add sponsors etc (which wasn't possible unless you had full kitserver kits). We also don't know how long it will take before anyone might get kitserver working. Not sure Juce (the author) will do it for PES2008 etc. It's always good to have too many options available. ;)

I like how the shorts and shirt crease when he moves. Finally they've got some kit physics.

With me out there will be an unbiased opinion on it all :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

rofl a cheeky slap would be the best edition to the pes franchise

I wonder how scripted they will be though, with fifa, at least old fifa moves like that which involve the ball going through a player or round a certain player are animations, it would be brilliant to have a "knock past move" where if you time it right and get the direction right you can knock it past a player leaving him standing but if its a "press R1-R2+x" and an animation begins where you knock it past them and seemingly have no control over the action it would be fricking horrible

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

No lol "nutmeg"

heheh! only joking.. but it was a good punch.

i wonder how we can pull off a nutmeg??? i don't understand how it would work. you do the move and the opposing player opens his leg for you?
