Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Lami, I think there are two groups of posters overhere.
The group sended by EA ( ;) ) to break off every positive post :D
The group who is here out of genuine interest in the new game.

Nothing more to add ;)

There are 2 groups in here:

-acritical konami fans willing to spend money on the usual updates and broken on line service

-critical fans of the game who do not want to be ripped off once again to get few messages during the master league and scripted gameplay

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Ok, I'm pretty confident there won't be. I do not work for any magazine and do not have any contacts.

Who is right? So far all we've heard is there are no changes to the ML or it's simply been "pimped up" (suggesting things like pub scenes and mailboxes), everyone is hanging to this thin thread of a dream that a brand new ML will be unveiled in Leipzig - but what evidence is there for this? Absolutely none, zero, zilch. If a jury were looking at this "case" who do you think would win.

I am quite chilled thanks and I certainly do not need your advice - if I want it I will ask for it.

Problem is, you slash everything whether it's good news or not. You don't like anything and you haven't been positive about anything. Why? You're being a bit too obvious about your hatred for PES. Why not just relax and forget about it then? You are clearly not looking forward to buying PES. I might be wrong ofcourse but to be honest all the posts i've read from your side is complete negativity. If you're so sure about it being so shit then why go through the hassle of posting? If i was in your shoes, i wouldn't care less about PES. I'm not saying do not post in here though because it is a forum and you have the freedom of typing whatever. But again, my question to you mate is, why go through the hassle of posting when you know you ain't buying the game anyway?

In my opinion, there is enough to be critical about, but everybody knows that we will be playing the next version again, and most of the time with all it flaws its stays the best footy game.

Its more a case if as, and logical thinking they could make this game so much better,

For instance, if they cant aquire certain licenses, add enough slots and good editors for the community to fill it up properly.

And I think we shouldnt be fighting with dissapointed or happy people, in our hearts its still the best game not??

I hear you Dutch friend. But we all want a better game...

You're right and wrong.
There are 2 groups of people in here:

- some who have respect for other's opinion;
-some who have no respect at all for other's opinion (and i don't mean you...).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

This thread is ridiculous

You are right. Some people criticise aspects of the new game and they are told to shut up, stop moaning and for some reason, EA gets dragged into it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

There are 2 types of critic here:

- those that criticise the shortcomings of the game

- those that criticise anyone who criticises the game

I'm not acritical by any means but I'll deffo be buying m PES2008, just like most people on this thread, be they critical or not.
Just because I buy the game doesn't mean i don't recognise its shortcomings.
Your comment doesn't make any sense.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

And winston is right! the amount of times ive been told to shut up and that I must be crap at PES6 when I complain about its badness...

Some people are also blind to the CPU Cheating AI and the dodgy physics and will defend PES till the cows come home.

No, just as Lami correctly said, there are people overhere who simply slash everything.
Your last group is a bit silly, because in the end they still buy the game :D

Still I consider myself critical. Didn't you read the part about the option-files? ;)
It is good to be critical, I agree, but some people are critical for the sake of beeing critical. Then there is no good ground to be.
Every intelligent person want the best game possible. I think you should emphasize the word 'possible'. Some people demand everything licensed, also top-graphics and on the top of that they want perfect gameplay.
I try to place myself in the situation of Konami. I am a programmer myself and I know that higher quality graphics always demand more time to execute. That means that they should balance the game out very well in conjunction with the AI. AI costs even more time than those graphics and all of that should play smooth while you are playing the game in a considerable speed. Can you see the difficultiy?
I can! They did work for 18 months on the game and that is not for nothing. I did not even write about on-line play with all connection problems you can get!
Yes, I am critical, but I do not ask for the impossible. People from Konami has also to deal with the new PS3. As soon as they know how this very complex console works most efficient, they can start with even better graphics.
I think Konami did a great job with the game we are awaiting.
...and I didn't even write about the much improved edit-mode. :)

Cristiano Ronaldo is a very talented player, but he should be one of the worst players, talking about game understanding and teamwork. He just try to show how good he is... but he is good only making tricks and feints...

Exactly! That's why he led his team in goals and assists last year on their way to the Premiership title. Oh wait a minute...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Ive always played with my own music in pes. Just turn off commentary and music. Put on winamp with a 100+ playlist and enjoy.......

Same here mate, hope we get a decent in-game atmosphere this time round.

And I am actually looking forward to the commentary this year.

I dont think the critism, or atleast a lot of it, is based on this single game and the info we are getting. If you are positioning yourself as a programmer, how easy is it to redo the ML? Or add some more teams on a 4,7gb disc when you now only use 2,2gb? Or actually keep options in the latest game that were in the previous without removing them for no apparent reason. Only to "add" them back in a later version with a "new" heading in the advertisement? These are critisms that have been present for quite a few versions now, and are fairly simple to solve. There is enough data left over on a disc to add teams. FIFA can have how many 1000 teams on a disc? Its basicly an excel file added to the disc with player names, team name, stats, formation settings and the choice of textures used from the basic graphics engine for the kit. Even the guys here have been able to hack the file to hexedit the database to change stuff. Adding a few lines isnt too much to ask is it? This would be followed by some rewriting of the program to except these teams on the disc. Same for ML, its writing a script for promotion/relegation/euro QF/etc. Not that hard, and we all know how good konami are at writing scripts. The people that are critical of this have a good reason to be, nokami are continually not adressing basic elements in a game that wouldnt take much to fix. Instead we get news of a "new" email function in the ML. Whats the betting that its the topic menu we already have but with a different layout and an email icon added to the overview?

Its bullshit, and thats why there is a large group in here that are cynical to every bit of "news" leaked about added features and elements. I made a thread after pes5 showing how they, konami, are blatently lying to us every year with their pr. And there were a few that saw what i was saying, but there were also some idiots that responded in the same way as in here; "Go to fifa if you dont like the game" and other such crap that didnt even have anything to do with the thread.

Han i appreciate your optimism / hope about the game. I lost it after pes4 and since then konami have only fueled my cynisism. I also appreciate you defending konami with regards to the gameplay / graphics, as so far we havent seen the game in motion and that will be when we will see whether they have done a good job. Im hopefull the game will actually look good when being played. But the core elements that have been poor in the previous games look like they are still in place. "Pimped" ML and all.

And because of that we have a group in here, that probably hope, konami read this, and / or show others that are still blind to konami's practice what is actually happening every year. In the hope that a growing group of critical people will some how get through to seabass and co how little and simple work they can do to create a much better game.

Me:Well if their staff is very small compared to EA they should simply hire workers(if they use it as an excuse for not making PES a much better game in terms of number of teams).

It's not really quite as simple as that ;)

I don't understand why not, I mean the Konami WE/PES team has made lots of money during this last few years and the logic would be to expande themselves in order to improve the game so they could sell it even more.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

The fact that some people stereotype says it all:

uncritical means pro PES and anti- FIFA.

And then the language: "bullshit", "morons", "stupid"...

No matter if you are "critical" or "acritical". No matter if you are microsoft or playstation...there are people here who tend to consider being "acrtical" or "critical" as a sign of (lack of) intelligence...

That attitude shows a lack of respect for other people's opinion...this not an attack on those people.
This an attack on the mods of these forum who don't care...
There used to be a time when people where very critical of the mods. Somehow that attitude worked...i miss people like Joost and Glorygunner who were often joking but who kept the mods on this forum sharp...

This is blatantly off-topic and so should be deleted, but at least this isn't disrespectful like 95% of the posting of some people...no matter if they like the PES games or not...

I sincerely hope i get a reaction to this post. You can even PM me...

I do this to make this forum the place it used to be: funny, critical, sharp, witty, informative but with respect for other opinions.

I hope you'll excuse me for this post.

As you understand I have not all the answers. One thing is for sure; adding teams or not is not because of the DVD-space. There are probably other reasons.
About the Master League keeping the same ( if that is the case! I have also heared different rumours) is purely a policy. Seabass said already last year that there were no immediatly plans to change it. My guess is that they have other priorities, like making the AI next gen first ( TeamVision ) and I think that will be a huge job to do ( see what I wrote in the previous post ). So they probably take step by step, making the ML stronger in the process by adding TeamVision to it.

Its bullshit, and thats why there is a large group in here that are cynical to every bit of "news" leaked about added features and elements. I never say such things! I think Konami is not lying ( at least not this year ;) ) about the new features. They promised Teamvision, from which I have high hopes and they promised a superb editor ( you can make your own licenses with it ). They also promised a smoothly running game, which already has been confirmed by previewers. I agree with you that it is disappoining if the ML is only 'pimped', but I can understand their priorities. I think the master league will be the next big step and I say BIG. Why change some things in it when you have in mind to improve things much more in a year? But yes, a lot of patience is asked from us, I agree.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Stan 4 President!!! One of the best post this year me thinks..

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Yes, I overlooked his post, but I agree 100% with Stan :)

freMM: Is there anything new?
I have another important question for your cousin.
Can he look for the option file? Some of us are concerned that it is one single option file where the player-profile is included. In that case all option files are unique and that makes it impossible to exchange option files with edited kits etc.
So can he look into that? Thank you :)
