Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Considering how underwhelming the 1st "proper" next-gen version of the game is, I'd like Konami to keep its "surprises" for the release.

We were expecting too much from a company of 10 people. Poor, poor Konami. Poor and stupid. With very little work, they could have dominated the soccer market. Being #1 is hardly enough.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Considering they have only 10 people working at the game they doing a fantastic job. Compare it to EA with his army of developers and even with so much they can't be number one, gameplay-wise.
... that's the positive approach!

You do love a bit of positivity don't you?

Here's a photo I took of Han shortly after the Holland PES festival of 2005.

He also took a pic and a video of me (walking away from the festival after a Konami representative beamed that "the ML will be the same format our fans know and love for at least the next five years").

Im afraid im the one who posted the comment that now seems to be taken as gospel. Riot commented on how small the actual team was and i seem to remember it being near the 10 people working on the game. Or atleast thats the number in my mind, either way i remember being surprised it being so small but also thinking that it explains how little has changed in the game over the years. Ive looked for riot's comments about it but i couldnt find it sadly. If anyone could find it to either confirm or show how ridiculously low that number is i would be gratefull.
Im sure it was in an seabass interview thread and in a seperate post from riot talking about him meeting the team/guys working on the game and how under staffed / small the team was.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Don't worry tikx4, I remember reading that as well.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Tnx Jack, glad it isnt my mind playing up then :D

Looked through all the availeble Riot posts (49 in total) but none of them contained the post and text i was looking for. Maybe its already been purged from the server/forum due to age......Or i just missed it browsing through.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Well if their staff is very small compared to EA they should simply hire workers(if they use it as an excuse for not making PES a much better game in terms of number of teams).

It's not really quite as simple as that ;)

Nice to know you are committed to continuing the trend.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

While I was at Wembley today I thought of a great new mode for PES 2008. It involves you playing as Ronaldo and you have to see how many tricks you can do before you mess it up or someone hacks you down and there is also an alternate version where you play as a defender and it goes through an interactive cutscene to try and hack Ronaldo down. Now that would be great

They have used that excuse quite a few times now when adressed regarding missing features or projected features from them that dont make the final game. "We ran out of time with our small team".

Yeah, the CPU can count how many defenders you pass before creating nothing but laughs in the crowd.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a very talented player, but he should be one of the worst players, talking about game understanding and teamwork. He just try to show how good he is... but he is good only making tricks and feints...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

A team of 10?

That equates to roughly one man per each "different version" of the game they release each year.

I find this figure of 10 workers completely implausible. Considering how the gameplay experience hasn't changed in the past 5 years, I'm left wonerding what these 10 people do. The changes implemented could surely have been undertaken by 1 man over a couple of weekends?

Since the gameplay got worse over the years it must have been a couple of drinking week ends...

I think the big surprise is that you will have to pay to play on line, which would be good in preventing all those annoying teen agers.....

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Has anyone seen the new JLeague game? The passing and shooting physics look so scripted and inorganic and have just been "sped up". If they have taken the same approach for the next-gen version I will be seriously disappointed.

There we go again
There is a HUGE difference in gameplay between Current gen and Next gen. Try the PES 6 versions of the Xbox 360 and PS 2 and you see a huge difference.
So there is no need to compare Jleague WE with PES 2008 next gen.

Thank goodness, because the "gameplay" in WE-JL-2007 is non-existent.

Given how ISS has gradually evolved from a good game into a purely scripted experience, it's almost impossible to believe that that they still know how to program a game that doesn't rely on a cpu scripts to control the whole match.

I reiterate, thank goodness they have finally fixed that, as Han can confirm, as he has obviously played PES2008 and can report in a truly impartial manner.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

I've noticed that we don't usually get info on weekends.. Maybe I'm slow, and all of you probably noticed this already...
