Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

sorry for the misunderstanding i tought schwalbe was a universal football term.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Nah, only German, Dutch and Belgium people use the phrase "Schwalbe". In English it is called Diving and other things. ;)

Schwalbe comes from the German word for Swallows. It has something to do with their way of flying, they make these sudden dives.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

You are right; I learned something tonight :)
We in Holland somtimes say 'hij valt als een stervende zwaan' ( he falls like a starving swan) and I always thought that 'schwalbe' means 'Swan'. Just looked it up in the German directory and yes, you are right, it means Swallow :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Considering the events of 2003, Egypt should be banned from this game for precisely 14 years, starting 2 hours 37 minutes ago.

huh?

Well I hate the premier league for being filthy bastards and signing exclusive rights to EA only and not sharing them .Greedy bastards

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

But how exclusive are these rights, if Konami gets two clubs? I mean exclusive would be like "exclusive" and would mean nobody else could get anything of it. Strange thing.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Back to the actual diving comment.........

I think it's a very dangerous element to add to the game. From a cynical point of view i see it as a "legit" way for the comp players to gain an unfair advantage at a level and consistancy players will never reach. Its a replacement for the scripting.

And it could also be another cutback goal type element for online. Although with all the crappy lag timing it would be more like russian roulette. But even so, people will be going round trying to master it, and quite a few most likely will. Leaving online matches to disintegrate into cutback/diving matches.

A few of the magazines (or maybe just one, cant remember) have said that it doesnt "break" the game. But again you can be sceptical about how much they have actually played to really find out how "well" it works in the right, trained, hands.

Either way, i think we can safely assume this will just be another feature konami adds and then removes from the game for the 2009 version.

Imagine playing in a high tension match against a mate and instead of losing the match to a good goal, or a script which is less likely in multiplayer, you lose to a crappy dive. Im sure there are gonna be quite a few punch ups with some, i know i always feel like punching the actual footie players for diving. How handy would it be to have the bastard sitting next to you :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

with all the money konami are rollin in, they should be able to come to some sort of agreement with the english FA..anyway it doesnt really make any difference at the end of the day if the edit mode is as good as it sounds. what would really make it great is the ability to create leagues.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Why should we argue about team that do not exist in PES 2008?
We can't do anything about it. This topic should be about the new things in PES 2008, not those that are not in the game.
I can understand the disappointment from the Egyptions ( and the fans of the unlicensed FAPL teams ) but it can be about negotiations between Egypt FA ( or English FA) and Konami. I know Konami keeps trying to get as many teams as they can until the game goes gold, so who knows what happens in the upcoming month or so? But for now it is not usefull to discuss it here. It doesn't fit in the subject of the topic.

Both excellent points which I'd not thought about before. :mryellow:

Actually, in all seriousness, for the people who have really quick tempers (the kind who throw gamepads or smash them up when the CPU freezes your defenders and scores, which I'm ashamed to admit I have done before), it could actually be pretty dangerous. Like you, when I see an actual dive, I just want to dive into the TV and punch the whiney Portugese cu... I mean, the diving player (whoever he may be), square in the face. If he's right next to you then you might just involuntarily lash out...

I can understand your concern about the diving - feature. I hope Konami has build in an option to switch on and off diving. In that case you can choose for yourself if you want to use it or not.
About beeing sceptical how long the game-previewers played the game: You are right: I have the feeling you should play this game longer than they do to get a good judgement. they also should have football-knowledge. Look at the TeamVision: We only have a limited idea how and if it works, simply because magazine-(p)reviewers don't have the time ( and tactical know how?) to judge this function.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

I was playing fantasia mode with my friends and i scored a volley.I broke my best friend crystal chandelier (price:350E) with my celebration. So real!
I think Konami must include my celebration to pes2008!

We didnt save it!

in a magazine preview they said if we don't like the diving, they will remove it from the next installment.

so i doubt there will be an on/off option for diving.

Fantasista mode is really good, I have to say. New game-modes and features is what makes me consider buying each version more than anything else, and it's rare that Konami add something so good.

If it really isn't included with PES2008, I might find myself playing J-League more than PES2008! Unless PES2008 has some other new game-mode hidden up it's sleeve...

Are you still welcome at your friends house?

i totally agree with you.Fifa has 30 licensed leagues and we are arguing about Egypt and Israel. Why dont they include 30 or 50 empty teams slots for editing.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

i hope pes2008 includes fantasista mode too.

i am loving it on j-league atm, but i am having trouble with kanji.

next gen fantasista mode all in glorious english! that would keep me occupied for a while.

Are you really from Holland? :D
I heared that term so often in talkshows ( Johan Derksen ) and even commentators do use the term.
So speak for yourself that we in Holland don't use the term ;)

I somewhere read about 22 open slots, so plenty of room to enter a whole league :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

yeah the bundesliga.......what about the rest ;)

Tbh if they do have those empty slots it will most likely be 3 or 4 from the bundesliga being added and quite a few from the championship (english 2nd division) to fill up the ML div2. And probably a few other euro teams aswell. I wonder if they have made it possible to actually have a proper CL now with home&away games possible? Just thinking about the game some more highlights how many improvements are actually needed.

Hopefully they / or MS (dont know who decides it) dont lock the optionfiles, or atleast that they have a seperate editing file on the mmc/hdd so that they can be shared online. Otherwise it really would suck having such a comprehensive editing suite and not being able to share. Ive done quite a few optionfiles myslef with kit/team editing and stuff so im quite handy with it. Could represent a real waste of the function as im sure most people just wont bother with it, either through lack of skills or just wanting to play a realistic footie game instead of having to make one.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Yes, good point about sharing the option-file.
If they also put your profile in the optionfile then it is a unique file which prevent you from sharing it with others...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/03/07)

Thats why im hoping they will split the optionfile with your settings/cupwins/communitystuff etc and have a seperate editing file (as they do with cup tourny saves and ML).

And image having different part in that editing file eg:boots, kits, teams ,.... I feel sick that Konami keep missing easy little stuff to add to the game and at the same I cannot wait to get my hands on the game .
