Haha all we know about stringers contact is hes called "mr x" and hosts an internet chat room where he spouts his nonsense about how 9/11 was planned by the government and the key to eternal life is in the consumption of ones elbow

hmmm

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

I for one am concerned, despite all the wonderful feedback the new screenshots have received.

Firstly, the gameplay screenshots are horrendous, which has already been mentioned. My problem with this is the presentation and menus are so polished and finalised, so this seems totally illogical to me. Why would you put all this effort into the menu's and so on whilst totally neglecting the in-game graphics? The graphics engine, according to those screenshots is exactly the same as PES6 on the 360.

My other concern, is that this is Konami we are dealing with here. It would not be at all surprising if we saw a fantastic edit mode which was clamped down and limited by some absurd set of restrictions imposed by Konami to prevent the creation of total game patches. We've already heard there are "22 slots for new teams", will this be different come the final version? I don't think anyone would be betting great sums on it. The import face feature, nice, but at the end of the day it doesn't impact on the gameplay, it's a gimmick - and I would not be surprised at this stage if it was restricted to prevent editors completely remodelling faces within the game, i.e. "You have reached the face import limit of 20, please remove some others to make room".

I'm just staying level headed at this stage and not jumping to conclusions. The in game shots are a total disappointment and wouldn't class as next-gen in anyone's estimation. I don't think such excuses like "the animation will make you forget the poor graphical quality" are valid nowadays. The fact is we shouldn't need to be in that situation, they've put huge effort into the faces but don't seem to have replicated that on the general textures and graphics.

I'm certainly more optimistic than before but really there is nothing concrete yet, there is a potential for a fantastic game but that could lead to utter despair and disappointment if they do include ridiculous limitations.

Thing ive never understood is do these "contacts" exist for the purpose of spilling small information to sources who can spread it, if so why do they reveal huge details to people knowing that the temptation is to tell others even though they cant, seems the easiest thing to do is not to tell the people in the first place..

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

So no Remixed ML for 360, awww.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Ill admit "ieatfanboys" edit mode looks nice and all that, thing is i play on wide angle 9 and cant tell whos who usually, editing means jack to me for the first 6 months or so of the game, heck i didnt patch pes6 till a few months ago and did so wrongly quite a few times.

I play master league as soon as i get the game, no exhibition or anything like that, i train in master league to get used to the skills so from my view master league is everything, in terms of reports its not being changed i feel less disappointed as i do just confused, with huge Blu Ray discs there is the oppertunity for huge amounts of new content.

I play online, but again usually not till a few months after ive got the game.

Meh, im excited :D:D:D

100% agree with that, thats what these pics show.

It looks loads better than these pics though, I can only presume these were taken with a crappy camera or a very early beta.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

well PES's presentation has been very sub-par in almost all of their previous games. maybe they took the extra time to make a nice presentation. maybe too much extra time.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

im hoping for longer matches than just 30mins?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

are people sure thats scanning pictures to create faces and not simply creating a face and uploading a photo to go with it?

Good point man, actually the edited seabass looks pretty much like the average face editing, surely with more options.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Yes, Samba2;) we can still hope hahaha.

I saw the Raul picture and that looked really nice. Indeed it looked like the baseball spirits faces. So like I just told,

I think they are hiding some quality stuff that konami ass*****

:P

And: Tekkan,

Couldn't quote that better myself mate.

I own baseball spirits 4 and i can tell you its just as good if not better than that trailer. The faces are unbelievable and EVERY SINGLE player in the game has their own indivual face. Every pitcher has their own unique animation (some are pretty crazy) and every hitter has their own unique stance and swing. The faces though are the best ive seen...I cant see konami taking a step back and not producing faces at that level...Pes08 will have the same level of detail in faces at least, if not better. The Raul pic probably comes the closest to showing that so far.

I was assuming you can use your own photos for faces cuz why else would they have the option to change the contrast of the the picture? But then it makes you wonder why Seabass doesnt have all of his facial hair from the photo in the game...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Because there is a shave option in the edit mode....

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Someone said something I really can't get: That the presentation now is so beautiful and looks like FIFA and UEFA.

Let me tell you something about the UEFA presentation.

The menu is a satellite view of the European continent at night, and when a match starts, the screen starts ZOOMING into the European continent in the menu till it reaches the stadium where the match will begin.

That's only one thing.

Konami has only changed the colour theme of its menus and the fonts used. THAT'S IT.

Now let's hear some "but uefa gameplay sucks", and "gameplay is more important" discussions from FBs who suffer from some sort of EA-allergy. Yeah that's not quite what I'm talking about here.

personal opinion really... plus none of us have seen the menu in motion.

on a side note, why cant the ingame grass be as good as the grass on the menu... =/

o ya, uefa gameplay sucks. ;)
lol

The reason for no beard is that the face mapping system works with a masking area, so basicly it can capture the faces main features i.e eyes nose mouth etc. but then fades around the edges to create a seamless texture. Which is why there is so much flexibility for skin tones this time round. All you would have to do is use the in-game face editor to add the remaining facial hair.

Yup, virtually my first thought on seeing the faces import screens was that there will be a "but"....probably a very unsatisfactory maximum number of faces. That said, I don't care because 1) you won't see the faces when playing the game 2) when so many fundamental things are still lacking in PES, scanned faces come way down the list of my priorities, so I couldn't care if it turns out to be a sub-par feature.

As for the supposed 20 or so "free slots" for teams, probably just slots for the German unlicensed teams or something similarly explicable. I seem to recall there were lots of free slots in PES6 when you edited the hex - yet nothing came of them. And who can forget all those new international teams in PES6, only to find you can't actually play as them. With Konami, there always seems to be a "but". Anyway, there's not much point having the option to create 20 new teams if you don't have proper league structrues in which to put them.

Very good news indeed except the speed of the game .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Sort out the glass marble ball physics before adding a photo player creation.
