Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

5. Teamvision : He noticed difference in strategy and said that the CPU adapts to your style . No more stupid or illogical moves by CPU (at least almost) and they really do learn from mistakes. If you win the home game in a cup match and CPU played with one striker, they will come at you with 2 or 3 strikers during return game. CPU switches in strategy aswell (long ball, counter, pressure, etc)
6. No Bundesliga or lower leagues, he did however notice 22-25 slots coloured black when choosing a team. Probably empty slots for new teams.
7. He would give nothing away about the big surprise….Guess we still have to speculate…
8. Passing is much better. Players handle the passes better, more lifelike. If they fumble a ball, they do their best to regain it with awesome tackling. Shooting has improved aswell and turning too.

That was it basically but he s gonna give me a bell in the next half hour, because we need to arrange his fathers 60 bday. Great excuse to get some moe news of him :d :d

Hope you’re all satisfied for now

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

I agree with Lami, I think the face-in-the game stuff is a great feature, especially if it's not limited to so many pictures (although you know they will, otherwise there will be 4gb option files). But I was hoping it was a new game-mode rather than an editing thing.

For a start freMM has all-but-confirmed there's not going to be a Fantasista mode in it, so I personally won't see the need to scan my own face in (I'm not the kind of person to add myself to my favourite team, I play it as it is in real life). And secondly, I very rarely use the edit features now - it's great stuff for the patchers and I'll be very grateful for what they do, but for me personally, it's not something I'm ever going to use.

Still, the hype is getting to me now. My contact, who as I've said before is a mate, was chatting to me today and just kept going on about how well it plays and how realistic it looks in motion. After playing J-League and enjoying the freedom (even though little else has changed), I'm hoping PES2008 takes that freedom and then improves on it even more.

Regarding the in-game shots that a few people say look awful, I've sent him an email with the address of these new screenshots so that he can take a look at them and tell me if the version he's playing (which looks "incredibly realistic" apparently) looks like the version they have screenshots of. With the motion of the players I think it's a case of, looks crap when freeze-framed, looks great when it's moving. He wouldn't be raving about how real it looks unless it really did, he's not the kind of person to exaggerate (he wouldn't say something was "amazing" unless it really was - in-fact, thinking about it, I've never heard him describe any other game as "amazing").

EDIT: freMM!! freMM freMM freMM!! I love you! Thanks for getting those answers, you are the best.

1. There is an attempt made for 360 movement, but it felt”akward”. It was at times glitchy and stuttery, but my cousin was under the impression that it was a bug that needed fixing.
Uh-ohhh, that sounds dodgy. I hope that gets fixed. If it does then, if I read this correctly, we'll have 360 movement! It's getting better all the time! :D

2. No online modes available on beta, so he has no idea whether or not ML is online. He suspects so because Konami Tyo mentioned in a bulletin quite some time ago that they were gonna expand online modes. This is however NOT sure.
Several magazines have hinted at this so I'm betting it will be.

3. No Fantasista mode detected anywhere in the game.
4. ML: same ML, same structure, new look, more “gimmicky”. No more, no less.
Such a shame...

Sounds good, not revolutionary as promised, but still an improvement.

6. No Bundesliga or lower leagues, he did however notice 22-25 slots coloured black when choosing a team. Probably empty slots for new teams.
WOOHOO, WOOHOO, ABOUT FUCKING TIME!! Although I hope it's a lot more than 22-25 by the time the final game comes out...

7. He would give nothing away about the big surprise….Guess we still have to speculate…
Thomas has confirmed this to be a face-in-the-game feature. So tell your cousin, from me, that we know!! HAHA!! ;) Seriously, I'd love to know his reaction when you say to him "oh and that surprise, importing your face into the game, it's pretty cool isn't it?" :D

8. Passing is much better. Players handle the passes better, more lifelike. If they fumble a ball, they do their best to regain it with awesome tackling. Shooting has improved aswell and turning too.
Sounds great!

Unfortunately thats the way it is with sports game developers. Im sure they can do tons of stuff but they give little every year PES2009 will have features that can be implemented in PES2008 already its all sales related.

Take for example the licences for the Spanish Segunda Liga, rumour has it that Konami acquired this when the got the Primera.

I wont be surprised if they are waiting for the day that FIFA truly surpasses PES.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

thanks again Jack for the news, and also freMM...

Now who will create the time machine to take us to October, the 26th?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

I feel like I'm in the "Twilight Zone" oooohhh.. you can see the label sticking out of the shirt, oooohhh.. you can zoom up to his lifelike face and see nose hair.... aaahh 3 years have been well spent... same is good new is bad....

don't drink the water people....

stick to tequila!

I guess I'm just bitter over the stagnation that knows no bounds at Konami... I really hoped the new systems would spark something, guess we have to wait until Seaass is taken out of the picture!!

Thats a good idea actually. Let us know what he says :D A couple of the pictures look a lot different to the others. Somethings not right there i dont think.

Cheers Jack and freMM for info. :applause:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

@JB; Thx for the appreciation m8. Already said to my cousin that I knew the surprise was face importing etc. He replied; "Or isn't it?"

Sneaky bugger :d :d

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

freMM, ask your cousin if this big surprise is about scanning/inserting faces into the game. I know its been said so but maybe i'm hoping its something else :p

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

the importing photo's is great but I not happy about ML being exactly the same. When PES/WE was first announced for 360/PS3 me and my mates joked that ML will be the same as it has always been as Seabass just doesn't get it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

the BIG surprise is EPL and Bwin Liga licenses

Oh my God, your cousin needs a slap. :(

Do you think he's just playing with you?

I honestly don't know. I have a gut feeling he isn't though...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

freMM thanks for the response. I am quite happy with the outcome.
There are some minor points like the unchanged master League and the Fantasia mode which does not seem into the game. Still a lot of good points left.
Even the Master League will change because of the huge improvement of the AI. Like you said, in a cup match things can change a lot when the opponent suddenly makes it tactically harder for you than in the first leg :) Okay, the structure does not change but the play itself does.
I wonder one thing: The game plays great, but when playing with the 360 control it feels akward. Should I translate that like this:
Playing with the d-pad plays great, but playing with the left stick feels awkward? Or do you play the 360 control with the right stick?
Please can you ask him this?

About the empty slots. We did read on several places that Konami is still in negotiations about licensing, so these slots might fill before the game will release :)

Thanks again, great work :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Well thanks for getting all of those answers for me, they've put my mind at ease over a few things. I wonder, has he played with the edit mode himself? I wonder about all the things you can edit about the teams, if you can edit any more details than usual...

Thanks again for the news freMM, it's great to know a bit more than we usually know this time of year! :mryellow:

I really hope you do know what the "Big Surprise" is and you're just trying to tell us scaning a picture is not it, not because I don't like it, but because we would be getting something good, and tell your cousin to just tell you what it is if you don't really know!!!!! Thanks a lot for the info you're giving us, I appreciate what you're doing!!!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Where does it say that Tottenham and Newcastle are liscened?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

In the screenshots we got, it has a screenshot with the premier league teams, and newcastle and tottenham have official logo.

I believe that Stringer Bell is organising a campaign to increase awareness within Konami of the need for ML restructuring.

But it's not looking good. The fact that they have done nothing wahtsoever with ML structure is a grim sign. Seabass has previously said that he is very happy with the ML and this latest episode of no changes implies he sees no need for overhaul.

For PES2009, I expect Fantasista mode to make it's entry to next-gen as the big new "feature", and progress towards 11 v 11 on-line. ML will probably have even better pub-scenes. By PES2012, we should be able to get into the shower after the match, with pubic hair that moves when it gets wet, get in our car and drive to the pub, have a chat with some of the clientele, go home and take a shit, but still only have 8 teams in Div2.

Looks like some of us will be relying on FIFA to deliver the goods #-o. A scarey thought.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

Yes, if you only play ML I can imagine you are disapppointed.
It is overall a huge improvement over the previous PES but probably not for you.
But there is a positive point my friend, Teamvision makes the master league still more exciting to play.

If you tried to give a over all rating in the previous post then you blatantly underrated the game though ;)

BTW you should change your signature. 360 degree control appears to be in the game and scripted gameplay is not anymore with the coming of teamVision...

Winston..If it improves enough to bare and they put the full leagues back in I'll be making the move, for all the whistles and bells unless (big) changes are made to the off field side I'll still feel I'm playing the same game I have for the past 3 years, no depth...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

How hard would it be for someone to patch it so the ML had 20 teams? or even more cups?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/02/07)

I don't think you can patch the structure of the ML, Fatality...
I am not talking about Konami patching of course.
