Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Crap, crap, crap crap crap. This morning, after seeing the new shots, my PES\FIFA position had changed. The new screenshots looked better than the old ones and things seemed on the up (the body stance and facial expressions looked fab). But now this little beauty of a quote comes out.

If it's the same old PES with next-gen graphics then you can get stuffed - I mean, if it plays the same, why not stick to PES6? I've already got that, and I'm already bored of it - what on earth should compel me to buy the same thing again, for the umpteenth year straight? Diving (aka another way to get screwed online)? Good luck with that, although I'm sure you'll sell a bucketload anyway, KonEAmi.

After all the quotes from Seabass saying "lessons have been learnt from the 360 release, we're bucking our ideas up" and all that... Haha. Should have expected it I suppose.

And all the people who come out with (when someone plays it and states the game is "crap"), "everyone hates a new version when it first comes out but then you adapt to it and you love it" - well now, this year, it's a bit different. The first proper review says it's virtually the same. Which means, to me, that it will be virtually the same, and there's no way to talk around that (although I'll save a few breaths of laughter for the first guy who says "well he's only played it for three hours, that's not long enough for the game to grow on you").

Oh man, please don't think I'm saying this to be an arsehole. Look at my posts from this morning, I was even saying in the FIFA thread that it was a role reversal and that I was looking forward to PES. I'm absolutely gutted.

Hahahah i was gutted when i heard Brad was back with Jen...
fortunately my dispair turned to immense joy when those rumours were confirmed false ;)

Patience please... why be gutted over a single 3 hour review, and even if it is true, why be guttered about a version we cant even play .. reviews of the final version are what the worry-warts really need to be worried about.. ;) then they can decide whether or not to try out the game for themselves - to see if what they were worried about was actually true...

Mind you.. this thread would be pretty boring with only positive remarks...so ta to jack n the other negative peeps out there ;) Here.. ill add some of my concerns..hmmm.. the point about slowdowns.. dont like this at all. But its a beta version and im sure thisll be fixed. Once the game is out, and if i still hear reviews of slowdown..hmm... then ofcourse ill be disapointed. Smooth gameplay is essential regardless of how many in the box..

good day ;)

Better defences and more realistic movements is key for me ,the rest is just bonus .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

- Weak stadium graphics
Again, very next-gen, Konami.

Apparently the last 12 months were spent in bed.

Patchmakers have really spoilt Konami.

Eatonj: fantastic edits...you are a great guy...i think this guys should get a yellow card or get banned...

Jack Bauer: i don't want to speal about a game i haven't played. But you are not objective any more..a couple of weeks (months) ago i had a discussion with you about PES6 and i asked you how you could explain why all te reviews in all the magazines i've read (from several countries) gave high review notes to PES6. Your answer: game magazines suck, journalists are lazy...now you base your opinion on one preview of one journalist...I suppose he's the one journalist who isn't lazy...
Come on Jack, your more intelligent than that...just admitted, you're biased (well everyone is, me too).

Actually PES6 got the lowest score compared to the other PC release. If you check properly PES3,4 and 5 all got an average review much higher than PES6.

I gave up on that game when I bought my xbox 360 because 600 euros is way too expensive. What a shame ,cause MGS4 looks to be one of the best (if not the best) game on the PS3

I didn't actually say they sucked and they were lazy, which is lazy journalism on your part. Forshame. ;)

Actually if you worked for the British tabloids you'd be considered a genius... That is, if anybody in the real world actually gave a toss what someone thought about a video game - it's easy to forget that it's just a video game sometimes... Especially when the thread draws the attention of racists, who think that talking about the game raises an opportunity to discuss their views. From a jungle, eh? I wonder where the poster comes from, a test-tube in a "how stupid can we make man" laboratory?

What I said was that a lot are too scared to play FIFA (not the right word but, I don't know if you have any similar friends over where you are, but I know plenty of people who would literally punch you in the face and escape rather than be made to play a FIFA demo). And a few may be paid off by EA (it's happened before in the industry).

But as I said at the time, you can enjoy (and give a good review to) whatever you want. But to say it's the same is unbelievable. I stand by what I said last night - if it's a positive\negative gameplay review, then there has been some form of change. But if the gameplay review says it's the same, then it's the same. I'm useless at explaining but I hope I'm making sense (not that anyone bar Winston and Cammeyboy will agree anyway, we are Evo-Web's Three Horsemen of the Apocolypse, "EVO-WEB, THE END IS NIGH, UNTUCK YOUR SHIRTS AND PREPARE TO DIE!" :mryellow:).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Going back to the subject I have the feeling the so called next gen PES 2008 is gonna be an update Jleague club championship.

I mean there are 100 millions PS2 out there, and not many PS3 (or fully operational 360s......), so if i was in konami position I would most likely focus more on the PS2 version and then do some little make up and add some crap here and there for the next gen version.

Not to mention they also have big markets in the PSP DS WII worlds.

I mean we still do not know anything about relevant stuff like MS structure, on line options and real gameplay tweaks like better defense, camera options, deeper control of plays etc.

Adding diving, sweating untucking handballing spitting and a wall of 10 men isn't exactly gonna change much to me.

And yes diving on line is gonna suck. I can already mental picture all the fuckers in the world (mostly latino world......) going to box and dive costantly.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Maybe the gameplay being similar is just about the buttons configuration not changing from last year. You shoot with square ,you pass with triangle ... :):)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Much of the same. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, we still do not know anything.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Fifa'98 had diving and it worked pretty lovely. It was like a 'secret move' that nobody knew till months into the game.

Not "a feature" as Konami is selling it.

Uhm I am worried how this configuation would affect the team vision element........

But we're moving onto next-gen. They cannot be thinking that way obviously when all game makers are moving onto next-gen too. They'd want to profit from a next-gen game. Everything we've seen until now is looking next-gen. I don't understand where you get them ideas from?

About diving i personally don't like it but hey, i came to think of it this way:
In real football players "choose" to dive or not and i think its the same thing with PES now. Some players would want to dive and some players prefer not to. If diving wasn't in real footy and only in PES then yes it would raise an issue. I'm pretty sure they haven't made it easy to win fouls or PKs from dives. Play the game like you play the real thing with its ups and downs :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Somethings is changing - the new PES is much more than a repetition with changes in detail

This has to mean something good, surely?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

Don't know if anyone can remember but when REDONDO played for Real Madrid he did the same trick against Man United. Fooled two or three players.. passed it to Raul &... yeah you know the rest.
& that .. my mates.. was way before C.ronaldo or Drogba did this kinda stuff.

I don't know man  .I'm not worried about early reviews ,I just wait for some official review when the game is out ,in fact I decide to buy the game after reading several reviews about it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

The moderation on this thread is pretty dire.

We've had a racist comment. People laughing at racist comments, including Thomasgoal.

Endless fanboi drivel, without any substance or basis in fact.

And Jack Bauer, you are in love with the sound of your own opinion. Why 400 words of drivel based on your interpretation of a translation of one report from a German journalist? The game is not finished. No one here has played it. 99% of people on here will buy it and enjoy it. Get a life mate.

Think before you type: am I adding anything interesting to the debate? Am I blowing things out of proportion? Am I getting to the point?

Jack, if you are 17, I apologise, growing up will come naturally to you.

Ciao.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

It would be alot more challenging if they gave us analog aiming. The player stats would still mean that shots are straying more or less from where you are aiming, but atleast you CAN aim where you want the ball to go, the thing preventing you from scoring every time is the player stats (Shot Acc, Shot Tech, just like in real life).

You matched the point.

Unlikely it doesnt be so on PES2008, probably we already knew if it is.
Let's hope for a reversed-trend on the release after the next [-o<

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

i never trust reviews, always wait until i play the game myself...it's the only way!! the current xbox 360 version is stripped down to the bare bones, but i still like certains aspects of it and still enjoy playing it to death

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/24/07)

i'm getting this feeling that these coverboys (Owen, C. Ronaldo, and Drogba) are going to be invincible in the game.

This is what I mean.
I know this famous goal and the trick is not exactly the same as the one Ronaldo/Drogba use.Redondo If I remember well used his back heel to nutmeg a United player whereas Ronaldo/Drogba use it to suddenly change direction using the side foot .However both tricks are really close and it doesn't really matter who invented it ,the fact is that it's in the game (wait did I just write this sentence ?)
