If PES wasn't 60fps on the PS3 there would be a riot. Konami will have it running fine for release. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

I must say that i'm disgusted by the reactions to the fact that Owen will be the "face" of PES 2008...
I think although injury prone, Owen still is a class act...
When Owen will score goals for your much overated national team maybe you lot will appreciate him for his true value...pathetic bunch of glory hunters.

I hope he retunrs from injury and can score decisive goals angainst Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal...that must sum up all your favourite teams (besides the one Tranmere Rovers fan).

Sorry but i'm furious...and to think that Owen once was the big hype...you English really sometimes deserve your image of people who goes from onehype to another...now it's Cristiano Ronaldo and Rooney...what if Rooney get's injured for your national team...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Haha, Stan, that's quite a nerve that's been touched there!!

Most of it is said in jest. As I've said in a different thread, I'm actually a big fan of Owen, and he is my favourite current English player. But comparing him, at the stage he's at now (not played competitively for a long time, picking up injuries left right and center), to the other football cover-stars (i.e. Ronaldinho), it's funny. Put it like this, if it was Newcastle versus Barcelona, you know who would win.

I thought all the guys who hate English football would be lapping up all of the negativity, not being outraged by it! You all say English footballers are overhyped, then when we slate them ourselves (rather than letting a tabloid do it for us) you're outraged! Make up your mind!

:freak:

Konami need Owen to have a terrific season now, they've taken a gamble.

Still, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the hottest properties out there, he's bound to attract newcomers to PES.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Diving! Haha....all those fanboys that used to sneer at the idea of having diving in the game and that such features belonged in FIFA will now have to start saying what a great idea it is to have diving in the game.

I was about to post the same, but you was quicker :)
It makes perfectly sense that if you such an awfull diving feature in this game, you also need the worst diver of them'all on the cover....

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Robben will be on the Spanish cover sporting the new Real kit. ;)

Are you sure it will be 60fps?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Ooh goodie, got a translation for the cover?

Think it says 'new images and the first video as well as analysis of the most anticipated football game of the year'

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Oh no, not diving...

Although I suppose if they want to make a simulation, they have to include it, as every real player dives. But still, you can imagine online can't you? Lag cheats, all-star-team cheats AND divers who know how to win a penalty every time they're in the box.

Fun. Thanks Konami.

if Konami add this fonction it's for the good of the game, i'm sure you can get a yellow card.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

It's the online part of games I dislike, Coopz. There's too many dickheads.

That's why I'm rarely online any more. Just when you start getting into something, the wankers find a way to ruin it for you.

?

you've already told us you don't like playing online, so why does it matter?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

bad News guys...

PES 2008 will be not as good as we thought, because...

JAPAN just beat Australia and made it to the semifinal...NIPPON! :)

That means all Konami developers are drunk at the moment... and after that they come up with such strange ideas like the pub-stuff :)

It'd still be dangerous to add stuff like that.I just hope it's not true cause DIVING IS THE CANCER OF FOOTBALL.
C.Ronaldo and diving ,as someone said it can't be a coicidence :lmao::lmao::lmao:
ps:BTW does Owen frequently dive ? .Just kidding

lol, funny that. i was happy japan won so the developers could be inspired to produce an even greater game in order to re-create the Japan v Aust game. If Japan lost they may have been bitter.

As far as the diving goes...the Japan v Aust game was full of it. A couple of yellows to players for diving and even a red for a controversial elbow in the face. So why not include it in the game? It happens just like any other event. Its a part of football that we see each and every week. I can see konami implementing it to some degree.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

I think you guys have missed the main point of the diving option(if it is true). It isnt to help us or increase the simulation aspect of the game, as you lot seem to think.

Because the AI is now more advanced and the games are getting more detailed nokami needed a new way to cheat you out of a win/draw without having to resort to the now obvious scripts with defenders not moving, the ball bouncing in a suspicious way to the comp player to score the goal, etc.

It has come up with a "fair" way to cheat you, because we can "do" it aswell(although its likely that we will never retain the "skill" the comp has). I can imagine it now, im getting "tackled" from behind when clean through and cant get away as the comp is holding me/slowing me down so i press the dive button to get the deserved freekick the ref isnt awarding me. Instead i get a yellow, the ball goes up the field and i attempt to sheperd the comp attacker away by using the "shoulderpush/running alongside him" technique but instead of it working he now lets himself dive and i lose the match to a last minute penalty. Cant wait!

And here's us worried that nokami are looking like they arent putting enough effort in, theyve been busy thinking of "legitimate" ways to cheat us

It was an educated guess (mainly because I couldn't read the text!) - I think it might actually say info on closer inspection

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Tbh, if the dive thing is true i would still prefer it to the blatent scripting going on now. It would be even better if they actually determind it as a skill rather then a "random" script element for every player. It could actually add an extra element for defending, having ronaldo run at you you know you have to either win the ball very cleanly or give him some space and try to crowd him out. Could be interesting if done properly, and fairly.
