Its a cover who cares

Great cover = Great sales

FIFA has great cover so it gets great sales.

PES has only good covers, so only gets good sales.

Nothing will beat this one though...

the PES5 cover was the best in the series by a mile, they put effort into it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Exactly, it's everyone's favourite PES.

So what did they do with PES6, just stick some Brazilian who's done fuck all on the cover and stick him in some tshirt from Oxfam.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

it was even worse when you consider that terry, fabregas n co were wearing some weird t shirts when terry could have worn the england shirt, fabregas the gooner or spain shirt, toni the italy or fiorentina shirt etc.

Owen and Ronaldo are a bit of an odd couple, but I respect them both as players, so I am excited about this.

that is a nice box art.

@ Suffdaddy / Adonis

Are your contacts not giving you any new hints / infos at all? There are still so many questions. Master League, online play (voice chat during matches?), licensed teams. No videos either. Even the bloody 7th Harry Potter book is on the internet already, but we don´t get anything new about our favourite footie game. Life can be cruel sometimes. Or ask your Konami guys, if they are planning to release a demo?

All that is vital info, so they wont be telling us stuff like that right now.

By the sounds of it Leipzig is gonna be the unveiling for loads of stuff. Not just regarding PES, but interms of the whole industry. I think Konami will drip-feed info until Leipzig, so best to be patient.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

That quote about injuries and cut-scenes is just hilarious... LMAO
Probably PES2008 will feature a special move, seeing Owen falling in pain or something?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

@ Jack,, i bet he got that injury when they asked him to lift up his leg and put his foot on the ball. That explains the basketball stance he's using for the pic!

Seriously though, what are nokami thinking?! A player that hasnt played for 2 years, well nearly 3 as he barely got a game at Real. A player that most people view with a negative slant.....his obvious attempt to get signed by a big team but when it became apparent he says he's commited to newcastle, a month after the rumours start. A load of bollocks in other words.

And him having the newcastle strip on? If thats the case, it will mean we will have manu and newcastle as the licensed teams (the stupid 2 team rule is known to most of the people here). I know nokami have midtable funding for the game when compared to fifa, but now they are even trying to represent themselves with midtable teams!

“Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami,” commented Jon Murphy, Pro Evolution Soccer Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at every level both domestic and international. We are delighted to be working alongside such a talent on PES 2008.”

Youre 5 years late!

“PES 2008 is a fantastic game, and the only choice for pro players,” added Michael Owen. “It enjoys a brilliant reputation within many, many players and manages to be a true simulation of football while also being a real laugh to play. I look forward to working closely with Konami in the run up to launch, and being a key part of its development.”

Oh come on michael, they dont even listen to the fan community about the development of the game!

@ SXFuzz, atleast you attempted to anwser....it actually originated from G. Simmel, a early 20th century german philisopher(spelling?), when he presented his theory in The Metropolis and Mental Life. It describes the mental development of city dwellers compared to rural dwellers, with the city inhabitants develoing a protective "organ" known as the intellectual lifestyle which makes people view their surroundings in a rational way to combat all the inputs in the city (people, noise, cars, images, etc). This in turn means they distance themselves from their surroundings which in turn creates the "blase" attitude. A "coolness" to keep ones self from going mad. Well if you managed to read all that, well done! And if you understand it, even better.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Lol JB - i half expected a finger injury from owen for lifting the ball that way.

I suppose Owen would of actually been a cheap option - A big name in football - and cheap cause he aint played for ages.

Ah, it all makes sense now. They've been signing up the footballers to do some of the programming. No wonder the game has been getting worse.

I wonder if Michael was the inventor of "TeamVision"...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

no that wasn't meant to be a "screen" of pes, i was just claryfying a previous fake screen.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Need confirmation, remember Deco with national kits on PES6 cover

www.4play_DECO.jpg

they had the Portugal NT license since last year, but they prefered to wait and add the portugal official kit on the next gen pes 2008 game. same with brasil nt. so ppl will give more credit to the next gen version. ( pes2008)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

Michael fuckin' Owen....what are Konami thinking? Seriously, if I were a marketing man with the duty of picking a face for a new football game why on earth would I pick Owen?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

To promote a new injury system?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/20/07)

I was just browsing for news on IGN and i saw they had a review up on "NCAA Football 08" for PS3.
For some reason it made me think about our beloved Winning Eleven (Pro Evo).
IGN is talking about a missed opportunity being the game runs on 30 frames a second instead of 60 :(

Here are the "Closing Comments"

For the title's first steps upon the PS3, this isn't the kind of debut you'd hope to see for NCAA Football.
Running at 30 frames per second and only 720p makes this a graphically inferior title to the 360 version of the game,
which is truly unfortunate, since the game is quite good otherwise.
If the title was released a month or two later, this could have been an impressive or even great game,
but instead, it has to settle for being a good one.

I must say that I am impressed with what i saw so far from PES2008, but since we haven't seen the game "moving",
I'm wondering if the game will be running on 60 frames a second. What do you guys think?

Keep up the good work btw!! your podcasts are still very enjoyable (can't wait for Leipzig :D)

So where´s the connection to PES2008? As you said, nobody has seen any video of the game, nobody knows if it will run at 720 or 1080p, nobody knows how many frames per second. So, I could pick any game and compare it to PES2008 and what MIGHT have been done with it. Pointless to me, mate.
