Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

I'm no expert at french, but I think It says that in PES2008, they're going "back to basics", meaning that those powerful players of PES6 like Adriano or Ribery (which I personally hate playing against, btw), that favoured certain teams to be chosen by people to play with(here is where they are citing Man Utd., Inter Milan, Real Madrid..), are going to be more realistic to balance teams. It also says about Teamvision that It is indeed a big improvement of PES6 biggest con, the defence.

It shocks me that all this commentary doesn't come from the magazine editors, but is quoted from the 2 best PES players in France at the moment. It seems that they have already played the early versions, based on how they comment on these things. Now It would be great if they are talking based on facts, wouldn't it? :)

Sorry for my lack on English vocabulary, hope to have explained it well enough.

Tnx sunwong, tbh i would place more trust in the top pesplayers then some mag editor/reviewer.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

so what was the emirates stadium pic all about?

Yes, I'm sure that all of us will agree on that... ;)

Maybe I should have said "hopeful" instead of "shocked", If they indeed have played the game and told their opinion to the mag, PES2008 could definitely be the next big thing in football games :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

I am very excited about this game and hope to convert J-League to Liga Argentina when it comes out

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

thanks for the scans thomasGoal :)

all what we need now is a clear transelation of the mag :)

and i think after Copa america finished now we must wait for the aishian cup to finish too ,, after that am sure konami will give us more info :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Thank you from the scans. The empty stadium suggests Build-A-Stadium mode as promised for Master League. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Well the main ideas are:
-Better AI
-Better defences
-Slower game
-Crap athmosphere
-More personnal style of play e.g C.Ronaldo'stepovers,Messi's acceleration

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Also it's going to be less arcade and a player with a red arrow won't unbalance the game anymore ("How to stop Adriano ?").

CPU would not make the same mistakes twice. It should be able to adapt his gamplay depending on ours.

If all the things said bring a very different and better gamplay, I really don't care about graphics.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

me tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!:)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

the game certainly needs to be slower.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Thank you very much for scans...

I'm also very excited about these comments by PES's France champs, since they probably tried early stage game...

It's so hard to wait...](*,)

HI!

Ive got this magazine.
It is said:

- To be flexible is important (not always playing as usual)
- Better animations (C Ronaldo skills, Messi's acceleration etc)
- Better atmosphere (Crowd not sleeping, lol)
- In FK--> you choose the number of players and the players
- Better defences

That's all...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

thanks for the update, all good news there, especially the better atmosphere.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Amosphere is a big thing. I think the current PES6 atmosphere is dissapointing, but it's much better than Fifa(looks like the players are playing in the twilight zone.) they are both dissapointing.

Real issue to address:

-manual passing in all directions
-not scripted ball physics
- And once in a lifetime I wanna see a sport game where u can choose player speed, i am tired of "either I walk or I go full speed". Why nobody uses the right analog to choose the speed level????

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

As I understand correctly (and I don't know French at all) it will be 4 different versions: X360-PC-PS3, Wii, DS, PSP.

So it seems PC version will be in fact next-gen and recent rumors about PC vers. being equal to PS2 are false? I hope so.

And what about PS2 version? Magazine doesn't mention it?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

It was confirmed way ago that PC version will be next gen though.

That could get fiddily with the whole right stick thing. The manual pass option using the right stick doesnt work at all. walking should be when you dont hold R1 to sprint.Holding R1 will make the player move a bit quicker and tapping R1 will make them sprint... I think thats the best way to do it.

Agreed 100%. No news on this means same old scripts and the same old overall experience, I fear. So much for next-gen .

I would add that passing speed (speed of all kicks actually, shots, passes, crosses) should be manual!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

winston, once again you raise excellent points. Why hasnt this been mentioned? oh hang on I know why... people think this game is near perfect and that all of us that think the game cheats are either Shit at the game or we imagine things...like that bullshit deflection to the CPU player all the DAMN time! and that 90th minute CPU winner or equaliser....

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

Seems like the general attitude towards untucked shirts is to consider those who want them as "graphic-freaks" who focus on little stupid things instead of the main, important features.

Well, I don't give a shit about graphics, or at least I think it comes second after gameplay. Still, if they scratched untucked shirts from the game this is just the stupidest thing they could have ever done. What some people just don't get is that untucked shirts are a BASIC element of visual impact. A player model from Fifa98 or ISSPRO98, but with his shirt untucked, is FAR more realistic and graphically appealing than one next-gen 2008 lucid player model with forced tucked shirt. For the simple reason that it is just WRONG. Seeing Cristiano Ronaldo with tucked shirt doesn't happen in real life. So you are screwing up the first rule of graphical improvements and realism. You might as well give him three legs. What am I doing with a C. Ronaldo with tucked shirt? Get rid of the next-gen and give me old gen untucked shirt, it is simply more realistic.

On top of that, what really get me angry are these stupid stupid stupid pub scene, outside stadiums, fans celebrating...WHAT DO I CARE!???!? if you cannot get the players on pitch feeling???
Unbelievable.

I really hope this thing with shirts is just speculation, if they really took out untucked s. and added stupid cut-scenes of people in front of the TV they are the biggest joke of videogame industry.

Man you're so spot on with your idea ,players should have something that was included in FIFA 07 ( yes I dared to say that) which is instant fatigue.I mean if Ronaldo ran with th ball 20 yards ,you should see him exhausted ,trying to find some air ,breathing heavily or stuff like that.

Because programmers are lazy ;)

I read it all. Two pages and almost no talk about the graphical improvement. It must really look like an absolute letdown.

Animations... Teamvision... all good. But why not change the easiest detail ever - graphics?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/16/07)

I think Konami is satisfied with the graphic details they've got. They have a different view to the things than you have.

Just have a look on a patched PES6/PC. It looks perfect. So the enigine is class. It's just some textures...

As I've tried to explain a few pages ago, Seabass will tweak the AI/physics engine all day long and not waste (in a Konami's view) time into unimportant things as graphic details.

__

But we have to be fair:
EA didn't manage to create accurate player models, good looking numbers, even the kits do not look right (apart from being untucked).

I agree, the stamina gauge should work differently than it does now.

It should be depleated alot faster, but once you stop running for a while it will then recover back up to an "upper limit". This upper limit will decrease when the player runs more and more during the game.

Example: Ronaldo runs 50 meters sprinting with the ball. He will reduce his stamina to 20%, slowing him down and making alot less effective. After a minute or so, he will recover his stamina slowly back up to his "upper limit" (which at the time might be 70% of the gauge). As he sprints more and more during a game, his upper limit will decrease, and he will recover less and less of his stamina when he recovers from a sprint.

So you have 2 things: The gauge will fluctuate up and down when sprinting and recovering, and the more you sprint during a game, the less % he will recover of the full possible stamina gauge.

That way you have both a short term "energy" gauge, aswell as a long-term gauge for how tired he generally is.
