Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

The High-res pics look good. But... the colours and textures are still cartoony. Especially the colours. They dont look real, or next-gen.
But the level of detail is fine, nonetheless.

Not to mention the current-gen looking "wide view" Konami keeps avoiding in its screens....

ps:Jack Bauer ,I thought you were a little more "positive" about the game :mrgreen:
Me? Positive?! Me?? Jack Bauer?! Wrong forum or what?!

Seriously, everyone thinks I love to hate the game, but I'm just bitterly disappointed that Seabass has turned into EA. "Totally new engine, graphics will be a truly next gen experience" equals "360 engine, few tweaks to the lighting, we're done".

And I feel insulted by the fact that I was so looking forward to the facial expressions, only for their latest shot to feature someone with a realistic expression flanked by someone who looks like he's just had a puff of a happy cigarette and is trying to squeeze a fart out at the same time.

And then I feel stupid for expecting anything from Konami when I notice that Ronaldo isn't even looking at the ball, in a situation where the ball is away from his body - how does he know where it is, is he looking at himself on a video screen? And then I notice that the crowd aren't even looking at the football pitch and I just think... Seabass, whether you make great gameplay or not this year, you're a liar. None of the above is "truly next-gen".

Well, unless Ronaldo really is looking at himself on a video screen. That would be phenomenal realism.

Just kidding  ,I kinda understand and feel like you.The360 engine is not that bad but it still very far from what I imagined thanks to Seabass 'lies.I really used to like PES/WE so much that I wasn't even looking at its flaws. This year I'll definetely buy FIFA 08 and PES2008 cause by the looks of things FIFA is improving but then we'll see.Right now ,i feel frustrated by the lack of informations concerning the most important part of the game

I agree with all this

Yo Jack ,I just noticed that "stupid" smile made the no 16 of Portugal. It cracks me up ,like someone said maybe he's happy cause Ronaldo has the ball and will score .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

nothing to add !
Why post then? if you have nothing good to add to a discussion or a thread then whats the point of posting? its annoying trawling through crap non discussion posts like this.

Do you see that in real life often, do you? "He's got a chance, one on one with the keeper, why that makes me so happy I'm going to darn-well smile! I might even burst into song! Oh to heck with it! I'm singing in the rain, I'm singing in the rain..."

You don't smile until the ball is in the back of the net - even if Ronaldo does have the ball and you know you're going to get a penalty regardless. And if they do smile when they think you're going to score, that's another example of Seabass selling something as "realistic" when it's about as realistic as Seabass ever making a "completely new engine".

Looks like Ricardo Rocha to me. And he would do that, trust me. :D

Love the way Ronaldo is looking at his opponent like "i'm gonna trick the shit out of you"

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

Next time one of my team mates is hogging the ball and might look like losing it ill Smile as if my numbers have just come up :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

I'm liking the pics so far. Can't wait to see them in action :D

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I've been waiting for months (not to say years) in order to have a true next gen looking PES, and what do I get ??? A slightly better looking xbox 360 gx and a superb smile from a very happy portuguese player .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

The pics look basically the same as last years 360 game. Cartoony and not realistic enough. However I think an engine change will take place next year and it will look more like a next gen title then.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

HE PLAYS ON THE LEFT HE PLAYS ON THE RIGHT ... THAT BOY RONALDO MAKES ENGLAND LOOK SHITE !!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

i think the graphic looks fine, the players models look better the in fifa. i don't know what u guys expect the game to look like? if u hoped that the game could have looked similar graphic to that trailer movies of the past we/pes, then i will garante u that, it wont hapen in this life cousel, maybe it will happen on ps4 but not now, overall if ea (fifa) didn't manage to make super realistic graphic, don't expect konami to do that.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

CRISTIANO RONALDO

YEAAHH, GREAT COVER

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

Oh my God, the guys who said these shots are from an old engine are right - Konami have just released these shots to the press, which are obviously from a later version (these shots also confirm that the PC version uses the same engine as the consoles, as this screen mentions the space bar):

11.gif

So Liverpool and Arsenal are licensed this year! Look at those likenesses, Kewell is spot on!

7.gif

Look at the cut-scenes as well, nice to see they've put some effort into them as well as the in-game stuff. WOW.

Is that a licensed ball? What brand is that?

Even God of War 2 (which is a ps2 game) has better gfx .It's just not good enough ,I prefer UCL 2006-2007 gfx .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

That confirms it for me no untucked shirts.

This is just gonna be a re jigged 360 version.

When was the last time C. Ronaldo ran around with his shirt tucked in?

Pathetic bring on fifa.

Are you joking?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

^ I too think UEFA CL's graphics look decent and FIFA 08's Pitch texture adds to that and it looks excellent.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

I have always been disappointed by the player models for two factors: polygons are still too visibile and skin texture is really poor.

Now I expected that to be much better but it seems no effort has gone into that.

But it is indeed true that the body movement seems to be very natural and spot on.

Still i have the feeling they'll show us nothing at the E3. But FIFA will so that's gonna be interesting to see how that jerky game is doing.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

i think the shots look great apart from the crowd not even watching the action.

Same old card board crowd. For one of the best crowds ,you have to check NBA 2K7

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

I like the pictures. Much better than Fifa in my opinion. Fifa looks good from afar but close up they're pretty crap I think. Yeah, they look a bit plasticiney. Looking at those screens, you could just squash Ronaldo with your hand, but they're quite good. They’ll look good in motion.

The game will sell. We’ve got Ronaldo.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

These new shots have restored my faith in Konami actually. I think they look amazing in every sense. Seeing these player models move will be a sight for sore eyes I'm sure. It's the animation and the processing prowess of the PS3 and XBox360 that make these games next-gen. In mu opinion Ninja Gaiden doesn't look all that good in stills, but when the game is in motion the fluidity and animation make it awesome (on both consoles before someone asks!).

Can't wait for some video!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

Someone setup a poll. I think people are liking it more than not, but not by much of a margin.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

I said a month ago Ronaldo was on the cover, great news.

PES 2008 will sell millions more than before, kids in the UK worships Ronaldo more than any player who's ever appeared on a PES cover.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/10/07)

And then I feel stupid for expecting anything from Konami when I notice that Ronaldo isn't even looking at the ball, in a situation where the ball is away from his body - how does he know where it is, is he looking at himself on a video screen?

This is the only point I feel that I might be able to defend. IF he was in the process of executing a Cruyff turn, then he could've glimpsed at the ball before pulling off the move, which is what I think he could be doing.
