Wow. Just look at the amazing colours, the grass, the wonderful pitch, and the realistic stadium shadows casting on it.

I mean this is all EASY. Why can't Konami do a game that looks like that? Do the graphics HAVE to be dull and nauseating? Is that like a WE/PES trademark or something?

I'm not talking about SMALL details like kits that move, skin textures...etc. I'm talking about something we see FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION of the game: The PITCH.

Not to mention other details, such as the camera angle, the realistically wide pitch....etc.

I know that bitching at this point is utterly USELESS. But I just had to say it.

PS - I may as well give FIFA08 a try this year. I have a feeling the disappointment may be much less this year...

I guess I'm going to buy FIFA instead of PES. EA is trying hard to improve the game. Konami don't.

I agree about the color of the pitch, but not about the shadow. As pointed out by somebody else, the shadows of the players are not sharp enough in the sunlight. That is the same shadow as in the shadow of the stadium...
Apart from that; I have seen the same picture in OPSM and there was no detail of the pitch, just the green colors. This as opposite to the detail of the Komami-pitch, which is very detailed. I think the thing people have against the Konami-pitches is the color. It is more soft color tints and EA's pitch is sharp and bright.
Mostly people like bright, fresh colors. That's the point, I guess..

Everyone on here wil end up buying both & playing the one they enjoy most.

Yeah.. I always end up getting both though the only thing that kept me going back to Fifa was the lower leagues... Maybe this time it will be because of the game play?
I hope they are both good games.. It seems like forever since i played a new Football title!

Funny thing is that FIFA-big man Booth admits that the gameplay in the lower leagues is better done by Konami, because there all teams still feel different. In FIFA the only differences you feel in the lower league is the speed...

That would be great if Konami had lower leagues... a second division with 8 teams does not constitute lower leagues.. ;)
My biggest hope for so called 'next Gen' means the ML is banished and a full league structure is implemented, bring on some division two scraps with Wrexham. \\:o/

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

You can call the eredivisie a lower league then the Premier League and I interpreted it that way :)

jeez i only left for a day and log back in to see some news, and I read this!!!??

What are you lot like?

anyway, with the lack of news, i was thinking about other things the game could or should have. I dont remember seeing it in any info, but anyone reckon that PES2008 will have Konami created downloadable content - kits, tournaments, faces, commentary, stadiums, teams, ?

Re: PES 2008 Next gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

PES 2008 is world wide title i think, and nothing changes fro sure between the european, japanese versions

Could this be the end of "Winning Eleven"?

I've said for years Konami should use a unified world name and replace the series number with a year to compete with EA and FIFA.

I think I said the best name would be World Football 2006 or International Football 2006.

Not for this year. WE will come out in december, I think.
If you are right about the future of WE then that would mean that we have to wait for a full year until the next PES arrives. Pretty long time

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

No, I mean the end of the "Winning Eleven " name, if it's true they'll be calling it "Pro Evolution Soccer 2008" in Europe, Asia and America.

Same here, and I've been playing it since day one.
Mega Drive, GameBoy, N64, PS1, PS2...

I was under the impression that this was the case. I have read somewhere that all regions will get a game called PES2008 and that it will be exactly the same. Which is about time if you ask me.

Isn't it about time they added USA and Japanese clubs? Infact just give us some frikkin leagues Konami, how on earth this game sells in places like Germany and USA I'll never know!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Or atleast gives us fake leagues with a very good edit mode and im a happy bloke

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

No, if EA can give us what, 28 leagues of licenced teams then KOnami should be able to give us more than 4!
