Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

There is a load of fanboy crap on here!

But with the architecture of the PS3, when the programmers get to grips with it they should be able to outperform the Xbox360, in the years to come, nobody would argue against that, the technology is newer.

Wow. You talked out of both sides of your mouth on that one.

With their close ties with Sony, Konami should be able to make a "special edition" of the game for the newer console, as the lead SKU, and still port a very very decent game for 360.

But why would they do that? What would be the purpose of doing that when they could just make it exclusive on the PS3 and make more cash for Sony? Since when has anyone done something like that? Making a special edition like that?

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

It is indeed looking good:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ztm2O48pPA

The rooney picture on the 14 seconds at the old trafford does look stunning. But as we all know that game in action tends to screw things up.

Looking at body proportions in that game, one of the players could stop mid-game and quote Brad Pitt: "We are all monkeys..."

:)

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

ffs, if I didn't know it any better, I could've swore I was at a fifa board discussing graphics.

We all knew this would happen. WE/PES would get very popular and then the graphics whores would come over this side. silly muppets :lmao:

I mean, it won't be advertised as a special edition as such but it will have a better sheen to it, as it was developed for that console and ported to the others. Konami will want to make sure the 360 port is a good one this year, or else...

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

So back to business, what's the result of the daily phone calls??? any juicy information????? Or should we ask the UN for that Sony embargo???

I'll repeat my earlier post, just to see if it invites more discussion on the issue:

"Genuine question: Of course, gameplay is more important than graphics, but tell me, seriously, is it wrong to want (or even expect) a lot better graphics along with a lot better gameplay? Why is it so terrible to expect both in an age where most of the hardware developments are graphics-related? It's almost as if you're made to feel ashamed for wanting the graphics to match up to the other next-gen graphics out there."

There are obvious improvements in these new shots but if you compare the graphics to 90% of the other next-gen games (tons of which have great gameplay to match) they are badly lacking. Graphics aren't as important as gameplay, but is it really that greedy to expect both?

Exactly. Thank you :applause:
Graphics is why you buy a new platform. Any system could handle the new gameplay engine. I expect next-gen graphics for a next-gen game. Sue me.

Hey,I wasn't having a go at you. My lil' rant was directed at the 'oooohhhh those screens look like ps2 screens' mob. How hard is it to acknowledge that the kits will move around in a life-like manner? It's doing my head in

Of course not. I want that as well - I'd love it. *drools* But I realize that it's still going to take some time to achieve this. In the evolution of consoles, going way back, the developers start to realize the true graphics potentional of the machine 3-4 years after it's been released.

When there's loads more info (screenies, vids, possibly demo) about the new game, then I'll criticize it properly. If the new AI feature is implemented rather well, shoot, I'd be content with pes6 graphics. :lmao:

Current systems (PS2, Xbox) can't handle NBA2K7 next gen gameplay engine. Too many animation routines for old-gen. Hoping for the same with this new PES.

I didn't reply to it because I felt it was an obvious and well-stated post. ;)

I suppose right now we are all just arguing like 3-years olds on a sugar rush. We need more pictures and videos to satisfy our lust for more PES-info. :)

BTW, E3 is June 23rd. So Saturday.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Famitsu have made no announcement about PES 2008 on their website. This is rather strange because its one of the biggest video game announcements of the week and they cover world-wide news on their site.

As far as we know they have seen the game, probably all version of it including the currently absent Wii version. I find it strange that considering all the news about the game online and its popularity in japan there is no news. Our contact got back to us but with nothing major at all, but we will post the quotes on here and the blog later. Tomorrow, i will try and make more calls during the day when i get a chance.

But the FAMITSU factor is something we should keep in mind. Especially considering the news adonis got from one of our contacts earlier.

Umm... smell fishy but we will keep you updated.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Blimey, Ive never seen a thread grow so fast! Whether the responses are rubbish or not I applaud everyone for their contribution.

First of all I just want to say thanks for the messeges and pm's. Im going to try and answer most of the questions for you here so everyone benefits. I spent a good amount of time on the phone to people, its amazing to see people within the company give us this much time now that we're established.

Ok, like I mentioned earlier, I asked the person about what he thought of the negative reaction. Hes totally bemused about it. Although after looking at the released pics he did said they look worse than the version he played 3 months ago. He also told me about all the litigations regarding getting a pic to be shown off. I'll go into it in the podcast, its not entirly interesting. In a nutshell he said you simply have to see the game in motion to see its beauty.

Now I asked him many times about exclusives versions. Answer? Nothing to say right now. Now tell me this, if it was 'no' why not just say it? That leads me to think theres something going on. The same can be said for commentary, still nothing to say.

One question that I got an answer from was when I asked about 360 movement. He said the game utilises the analogue stick better than before, but you'll still find it more responsive with the d-pad. This is because Seabass insists on it, as there is still a huge following for the d-pad as whole in Japan - not just for PES/WE.

Nothing more to say really. This is straight from Konami's mouth so no bs from anyone regarding it please. I think we've proved we can be believed on news so far.

Oh to answer another pm, right now we have told that we cannot get the beta as we dont have special PS3's that can play said copies. Its therefore possible we will get the PS2 version. Its not all bad news, theres a good chance WENB will get invited to a private showing in the next two months, lets just say we're bein considered ;) still getting the finished version around a month early. keep supporting us and we'll bring you the news first!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Thanks Adonis :)
Interesting about the better analog control on the 360.
Does that mean he played his beta version on that console ( how else does he know? ).
I echo Charlievolano's question...

I stand thoroughly corrected. :)

Thanks so much for that info. Although I am saddened that the main man himself still believes in using ancient and way too undetailed technology to be the core for the gameplay.

But, I asked, and you answered quickly. Thanks alot for the effort, very appreciated from me. Huge thanks! :)

360º movement, not movement on the XBox360.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread
