Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

ThomasGOAL, i found this in GAME11 Forums:

PES 2008のイメージはゲームのPCそしてXbox 360版である。 PS3イメージはソニー輸出禁止のためにKonamiによって解放されない。

Google Translation:
The image of PES 2008 is PC and Xbox 360 edition of the game.
PS3 image is not released for the SONY embargo by Konami.

What do you think? Is GAME11 Forum Reliable???
I don't know really, i hope Adonis can be take from informations about that, but i hope for that !!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

will be interesting to see if this is true. we will have to wait and see.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

can be possible because the PC and 360 versions are developped with directx, so maybe...

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I dont think those are for PS3. Should we expect more news to emerge in the next couple of days ?

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Marking the series’ first appearance on PLAYSTATION®3, and its second Xbox 360 outing, these and the PC-DVD ‘Next Generation’ versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’s are further enhanced by stunning aesthetic elements. Player detail has been taken to incredible levels with full facial animation and the high-definition detail afforded by the hardware used to show full movement and subtle details to the various kits during the course of a match
I take this to mean that the game will be the same on all 3 of these platforms.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I think I'll remain in denial, I want to see it to believe it, because those screens are PS2 quality m8!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

WOW....great pics, great news!!! so much for the weekend...hahaha, YES!!!!

I'll keep on dreaming that the Japanese forum is right...and hope that PS3 version will be better!!!

the news of the new AI just won me over...the pictures are all good enough already for me!!! the understanding that TeamVision will change everything...hahaha, THAT's what matters...and THAT's why I play WE/PES!!!

The accurate lighting alone would bring a PS2 on its knees. ;)

And right now we need to trust KONAMI, who say that the screens are several months old, and the graphical updates are many at the end of production. That is what they say, and we have no reason not to trust them on it.

Probably a bad move to release old pictures for a bit of teasing and not stressing that they are older pictures, but that doesn't reflect badly on the game, only KONAMI if anything.

Bottom line, KONAMI says there will be alot of changes, so we need to trust them. If we later find out they were talking out their asses, then it's fair game.

I agree completely. For every PES I have played so far, it takes a month or two to "learn" the game and what you can do in certain situations. For example, in PES5 it was very easy to intercept passes in certain situations, because you knew that if you positioned your player in a certain position, the opposition would pass to his teammate, but you could easily move in to intercept then.

If you have an AI that you can never truly learn, that varies so much that it is a challenge every time, then that would be absolutely priceless for a football title.

Guys, Konami UK sent the podcast to Japan!

Huge news for us, but how about this for an interesting quote. When asked about the delay of WE in Japan my contact said :"do you seriously think Konami and Sony would make japan gamers wait for such a big game".

When after I said yeah because WE is coming out after isnt it? He said 'is it?' and smiled. Worldwide release it is.

Whats key here is though that he said 'Konami and Sony', not including Microsoft or Nintendo. Sony special release?

The way you write it, it seems like he said "Konami and Sony" because those are the main actors in Japan. SOny is japanese and thus has an "obligation" to Japan so to speak. Microsoft hasn't got any special relationships with Japan, it is another country for them. But Sony and Konami are huge in Japan, and thus they don't want to make their "home fans" wait.

I personally welcome a worldwide release. I have had it with their constant small releases all the time. Even people here have a hard time keeping track of the Livewares and such. And it always feels like you are playing an outdated game when 4 months after release, a "new" release takes place, which has undisclosed improvements or changes.

KUDOS for the info Adonis. ;)

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Yeah, here in America we starting to play the newest WE when 1-2 weeks later a new Japanese release comes out.

Well here we go , I think, this is true, PS3 will be diff., those cant be PS3 pictures. Simply cant. Of course there will be special realease. I do believe it. We ll get completetly diff. looking game on PS3. Sony didnt pay money to Konami to release same PES for Xbox
that makes no sense.

Yeh I know what you mean, but surely he should say just Konami, rather than them and Sony both. imo theres definately something going on there.

btw theres also something going on with PC and 360. I asked about why now for PC to be proper nextgen after so long, he said it was due to the ease of porting the game from 360 to Games For Windows.

From my conversations Ive had since yesterday, everyone is quick to seperate PS3 from PC & 360. There is definatly something to look out for. Im eagerly awaiting news in Japan this week, something is due soon.

Yes it must be quick :-), only Lami and guys like him can be satisfied with such pics of next gen, this is not next gen, this is not PS3. Lami and others cant make me believe this is next gen, even IGN cant. The same as Turkassan was not able to make me believe that his pics were PES7. I am starting to feel better right now. Cant wait to see real next gen . Konami can make a lot better than we saw yesterday. I am absolute sure. They better do !

NoT sure why you think this is proof that the engine wil be the same for ps3, 360 and pc? Its a pretty ambigious statement

But I am with ADonis on this one, Adonis thats great news. Thanks again for the efforts in keeping in contact with your sources.
Yes, I also believe that the PS3 version will actually be different to the PC or 360 version. Konami has never actually confirmed that the PS3 has a different engine, but never denied it as well.
BUt correct me if I am wrong but wasnt there a bit of news a few months back that said that the PS£ was main lead SKU?
From a technical perspective it makes sense that the 360 and PC version are almost identical, but with the relationsip Sony and Konami have PLUS the playstation being the spritual home of Winning Eleven, the 2 million dlooar investment by Sony, it all adds up to a very bit of news shortly that the PS3 has not only a different engine, but is graphically the best version. I would not be surpirsed if the PS3 version had some extra features, modes that the others do not as well. well here's hoping...!;)

Sorry 360 fanboys, time to start saving up for a PS3!!!!!!!!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I still see the negative responses to be too harsh.

Yeh the game doesnt have the shine of a nextgen game, but like I said its from a version that was shown 3 months ago. We'll go into this more in the podcast, but I do feel people arent understanding why it looks the way it does right now.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I figured you based it on more than that. You've spoken with them so the finer details and the way they answer questions weight in. :)

But, I am still hopeing that All versions will be equal. I mean, We see lots of games released by for example EA be virtually identical on Xbox and PS3. And they still look awesome (Fight Night an example).

I guess I don't want to feel forced to buy a PS3 just because that version is more advanced or such. The latest screens etc isn't close to being as nice as the X360 can make them, so I don't see why they should treat the PS3 higher when they aren't close to maxing out either system.

Yes, it was confirmed some months back the PS3 is the lead sku. The Konami guys we chat to arent confirming or denying this though. It really is a wait and see job.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I still don't think the PS3 version will be any different in Europe. :) I have a PS3 and I have Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 pre-ordered for it but I just don't see it happening.

Dude, you seem to to understand things very wrongly. I never said the pics were next gen, i said they were early betas. I'm not trying to convince you to cherish them early beta pics. All i was trying to say is everyone needs to chill. We still cannot judge pes2008 from only 6 screenies. Do you get it now?

Nice one! Ps3 fanboy ;) Still not sure what makes you think the PS3 version will be the same? PLus not different for Europe??? Im interested to know the foundation of your thinking here,

I am only speculating based on what real scraps of into we have been given/found. it all points to a next gen version on PS3, 360, PC and Wii. But there are those bits I mentioned earlier that does hint at a different version for the PS3.\\:o/ \\:o/ \\:o/

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Lami keep telling to yourself darling that this is early beta, its not. Final version is gonna be slightly better and u know that. Well lets just wait for final statement of Konami about PS3 version

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

We don't have any official news except what comes from Konami and they included the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC version in the same group of "next-gen" with the same screenshots.

If there is some kind of agreement with Sony to not show the PS3 version they wouldn't want people thinking these shots are from that console and would say so in my opinion.

The Xbox 360 and PC version being seperate like Adonis is hinting at is probably because of "Games for Windows", meaning it might be possible for 360 users to play against PC users (though I think this is only a feature of Vista).

I'd be very happy if the PS3 version was a lot better but I just don't see it happening.

Alright let me put it in another way. I for one am somehow ok with the current screenshots. My main concern is on gameplay, modes, leagues, tournies, online, etc. Now if Konami keep them same screenies and enhanced the rest then i'm satisfied. IF they revvup everything then i'm more than satisfied. I wouldn't lash out on Konami only 'coz players don't have untucked shirts. But if the gameplay was shit, the ML still looks the same, then i will have a serious ranting unleashed :lmao:
