Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Have you tried playing Long on Angle 9? It looks the most realistic one to me.

When I use long or wide I also use angle 9, still would like to see more field on the long and be able to change the height not only the angle.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I've just realised how terrible the skin textures look on the Ronaldinho flip flap shot, look at Simao's head! it's a clay cartoon again, just like last year

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Well, even from far, if C. Ronaldo doesn't have his shirt untucked, it doesn't feel like Ronaldo to me.

I totally agree with this. Untucking his shirt is the very first thing I do when I'm updating appearances for everyone.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

same here ^^

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

dont worry, konami aready said there will be a next gen edit mode...so we can edit all that and mybe even more.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I haven't read any comment about Ronaldinho's right hand, with his fingers closed. Way better looking than the hands of the other two versions shown here.
I can't exactly see what you're talking about (I don't see any fingers crossed), but I didn't notice that he is making a thumbs-up gesture with his right-hand before. That's great!

Always use Wide cam + radar, can't even play on any other cam, need the overview of the pitch.
Would be wonderfull if they added a cam you could completely modify (zoom/pan/tilt/rotate)

I have been waiting for this one aswell. I don't see why we should have to settle for KONAMis default tilt, height etc.

FIFA has something like this, but the degree of change you can make is ridiculous. You have like 9 different setting for height, but the difference is hardly noticeable between the highest and lowest setting.

But yeah, definately should be in the game so that we can customize the camera for a good height, some might zoom in, while others might want maximum overview. Me wants.

Agreed, Camera options are one the few essential elements I want in the next pes. The other being manual passing and no more scripted deflections. Give me that, a bit of a better graf and I am content.

That's "closed" Jack. ;)

And I am pretty sure this hand gesture (closing his fist) is part of the overall elastico animation (although it is slightly refined now).

Make a thread "PES/FIFA comparitif" if you want speak about that, but please don't post more pict of EA Monkey game.

Thomas you are hilarious. Very sad but hilarious.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Also, I would like to be able to "hear" the goal-keeper's saves as he slaps close or long range belters.

Little things that should have already been in the game years ago.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

what a load of old shit this thread is turning out to be.

just speculation and argument over something we don't actually have any info on.

saying the gfx will be much better won't actually help, because there is no proof. just wait until the game has gone gold and ppl start getting review copies.

That's true. Also, really loose passes etc shouldn't be heard at all, atleast not with the same audio sample and sound intensity used currently.

Holy crap, I really do need a new pair of glasses.

Yeah, well spotted - the hands definitely do look better now, though. The hands are something that have always had a low priority graphically, but you can see the difference in that shot. Very good.

Although, honestly, you're barely going to look at the hands even in replays, so... Hm.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I hope Konami deliver in terms of 5.1 sound.

I can't believe i never thought of or realized that. But very very true. Why can't Konami just hire someone to spend 8hrs a day reading these forums and picking these sort of things up?

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I've been reading this thread with intrest and a litle bit of irritation b ecause of the console war...but overall...very fascinating. Thanks to everybody who has got some information...

Now IMHO people focus too much on graphics, once you are playing a game all the eye candy does not matter...

So my (humble) conclusion: let's wait for the game...even a video will not give us a good reliable opinion on the game.

I'm totally with you on this.
People priority is on graphics features. I'm afraid in this way developers keeps focusing themselves in graphics details neglecting gameplay and its centrality.

I'd prefer people would be so discriminating about gameplay issues. I think innovation and creativity applied on gameplay is vastly more important than graphics in the economy of a footy game.
This is my opinion.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Hi all,

I agree with you dejavu76, graphics are most discussed when the publisher releases screenshots (which is why many times they release shots at ridiculously high resolutions that will never make it into the final game, btw). But at the end of the day, who plays PES close enough to see the cloth rippling feature we've been told? It would be totally unplayable even on 40'' screens, IMO... Plus, the most important thing about graphics are not themselves, but the animations and how they are linked, that is what gives you a realistic or a cartoon feel when running full speed to make a cross...

Konami, gimme better gameplay, camera options, full online capabilities and PES6-X360-like graphics, and I'll be more than happy, thanks...

My 0.02.

Sunwong :)

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Ehi I asked this thing before got no anwer, did anyone figured out who's gonna be the commentator??? I mean that's a piece of information they could have esily released.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Just something that slipped by unnoticed - and another one to add to the rumor mill...

Are you sure that the game was renamed to "Winning Eleven 2008" today, and has not just been there since before? Because, if that's true, adding things up would be amazing.

1 - Winning Eleven slated for release in Sep. 6th.

2 - Winning Eleven NOT coming out before PES this year.

Result:

Winning Eleven and PES worldwide release September 6th???

Cheers,

Paulo Tavares

[EDIT:] Charlie: no one know's for sure, Konami hasn't said a thing about it. Last thing we heard about this was in the podcast.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

For Nick who think it's the same graphics than the PES6 360

522313200608231437075biay6.jpg

Apart from Henry's movement looking a bit more robotic, I think the middle pic looks better than the third.

Like I said I'm sure we'll all be impressed when we see it in motion.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I gave it a thought (had nothing better to do...) and I think this is a credible scenario of what happened:

Two weeks ago EA organized the usual big event to promote FIFA 08, got tons of game journalists in his state of the art facilities in canada and then did a killer mocap session in barcelona with dhino, ramos klose etc. They are all over main news.

Konami US and Europe do not want to let EA monopolise the all thing but they get little support from Tokyo. Eventually the japs let them release some infos but give them no update screens or videos so they have to come up with the pre beta shots.

If this is the case I guess we gotta wait for the japs to show us the real thing.

i think thats always been the case with seabass president of the hobby fair i think well see the ps3 version on the 23rd if not well have to wait till 5th july

and probably someone has bought exclusive rights for the first showing of pes2008 so thats why weve not seen the game in its true light yet

Still i am not sure it such a great idea to show the Next Gen version before they actually release the new PS2 club edition version.

i think it would be the best idea to start hyping the ps3 version over there because the ps3 needs a bit of a lift with not that many sold so far

Making it 150 euros cheaper wouldn't be so harmful either.......

Anyway for those of you who wanna have a laugh
