Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

Yes... but its fiddly and shite and doesnt work very well. By the time you have selected your direction and clicked to play the pass The Super Human AI has already robbed the ball from you and is about to score a Maradona Like Goal... :) ah you have just go to love PES and the people who think its a flawless game.

Also @ the people who are saying the 360 is shite.... Just because there is a core option (for those people who dont earn a super amount of money) doesnt make it shite. In fact as ive stated before some games ive played on both machines have looked and ran smoother on the 360. My PS3 sits under my 50" LG HD Plasma and collects more dust than our Hoover. I hardly ever touch it. If PES 2008 does MIRACULOUSLY have more than the 360 version AND they sort out the AI bullshit + Stiffness then I might have to give the old gal a good clean. I cant stand these blatnant fanboys who say Xbox sucks PS3 rules because of the Hard Drive as standard! or Blu Ray or whatever next is wrong with the 360!

The reason I would agree with how poor the 360 is, has nothing to do with quality of the graphics or quality of the games, but has 100% to do with the build quality. It is one of the poorest build ever in a games console, as proved by the massive failure rate, and MS choice to extend the warranties.

But I agree that it is very good machine in terms of the games available, graphics, and for those who cannot afford a PS3, but it had some serious corners cut to keep those prices down initially, and so that it could get the jump on Sony on release schedule, Im not gonna bash it for that choice.

Where has all the news & rumours & bullshit gone?!

Have all the contacts been assasinated by seabass' shark/dog/cat/tiger-headed ninjas?!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

Doesn't matter what you say about the 360, 33% failure rate is the worst in history and therefore it's shite.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

Fifa has sharper graphics, but the gameplay is whats important.

I dont really care about graphics as long as pro evo 2008 plays well, I'm satisfied.

I agree. textures look great, but player models do not.

I am praying that Seabass doesn't remove the stadium editor from the game.

I can't wat.

pes will look more realistic then fifa. don't judge games by screenshots. especially fifa's.

FIFA looks emotionless, dwarf robots covered with skin but the jerseys looks sweet

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

I love all this lead up to a new release. The rumours, the images, the sneaky video footage. I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

NOW the voice is familiar!!!

Which big games has he covered in the past year? I heard he did 3 out of 5 of England's games in the last world cup?

Like the voice though when he shouts stuff, GERRAAAARRRDDD!!!!!!

:D

WOW I posted something useful, yay for me.

He is awesome, he has been around the block a bit from what i recall he has worked on

-MotD
-UefaCup
-World Cup
-Champions league
-Championship
-Five Live and Setanta

So we all recognise him Peter was ok a few years ago but not for next-gen.

One of his biggest games was englands exit to portugal on ITV.

Jon Champion is a great choice. Lets hope they can live up to his standard with the commentary engine and script!

I was a bit naffed at first they cose Lawwro as co-commentator, but after a mull, i actually am quite looking forward to his whining and woe and betides!!! COuld be quite funny!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

I don't care so much about graphics quality. I've always played with far cameras, so skin textures and other things like that are not something to be worry about. All im asking for PES 2008:

-Kits movement.
-LOTS of new animations (GK mostly). Would be nice to see more than one movement variation for each action :)
-Best control of the players and improved ball physics.

:D

You can't expect to see much kits movement while playing far cam

Im not sure, I think we actually will see some clothes movement while playing, no matter what type of cam we are using. Maybe that's why this year the shorts are so big, so we can see the effect from almost every distance. Dunno...I guess we'll have to wait for some video.

You're right because it works well on NBA 2K7 so matbe on PES too. Those short we've seen in screenshots are really funny :lmao::lmao: they're more like basket ball shorts .

Good point tomaeso.

I personally could care less about the kit movement. As long as the gameplay is great and the animations on the field look organic, that's all that matters for me.

If only it could as smooth as on Football Kingdom

ha ha if only. 5 years old - a generation behind - and still miles better than either pro next gen or fifa next gen! a next gen football kingdom could potentially challenge the big two! why don't EA by that game engine! they would be right up there...

apologies for going off topic.

Thats one of the tings that bothers me mate, other than fifa most football game commentary seems very robotic i think it is primarily down to the script. I would rather see Jon get given a scenario and have the chance to improvise, after all match comentary is live.

I just hope they have 4-5 call names for each player/team so that it flows well. If you notice alot in jons commentary he just tells you who is on the ball i think this would work well without all of the crap they lay on, that can be done when needed.

Lawro is a little drab but heh rather him than Hansen, might add a little humor :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

I'm a big fan of Motty, Lawro and (especially) Hansen, and Jon Champion is a great unoffensive commentator, so really PES have done a great job signing him and Lawro.

He's good for a laugh Lawro, to quote myself from during the World Cup:

I'd love to see Motty and Lawro in it actually. I think Lawro's been brilliant throughout the World Cup, I like it when commentators have a bit of a laugh. "Sorry John, the guy in front of me's just stood up again, there'll be words if he's not careful..."

Anyway, if you don't like him, it could have been worse. It could have been David "he's got a brain under his hair" (actual quote) Pleat.

What amazed about this game is the incredible freedom of passing you had .I hope that Konami will go towards this direction (maybe next year) as it appears that they tried the 360° direction but didn't like it whereas it's gotta be the future of the game

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/08/07)

i think the nets will be outstanding this yr.

more than likely modeled from the 2006 world cup goal structures.

Yup agree, Beatts, if only they gave the commentator a bit more licence to say words they would actually use, rather than be forced to read verbatim the somewhat poor literal Jap to Eng translations they have been given in the past! " and the wind is shoooting thru the stadium....."
I like you idea about the more choices of callnames. as that wold definitely be a good realiable way to add emotion to the proceedings without worrying if the sentence fitted the on screen action, Lets hope Konami had that in their dev plan!
