Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

Well, there isn't a reason for the X360 version to be far inferior. Most games look about the same on X360 and PS3, and if KONAMI decides to favor the PS3 heavily, then I'm not sure what they are doing. Surely it would be in their favor to make each version as good/advanced as it can be, unless they get compensation from SOny for making the X360 version less impressive (not likely, but stranger things have happened).

Wish they would just talk to us about this for once, we are the fans that will be buying the game after all. And surely they are far enough into the process to be able to give some specifics.

Thomas thanks for that link.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

No! those Adriano shots are fake renders made last year. Do you still believe the PS3 version graphically will look 3 times better than the PC and 360? If so then more for you but be realistic! All 3 versions will look the same. How many more times does this need to be said? Perhaps you need to marry your PS3!

Theyre not fake renders. The model of adriano was implemented into the 360 version but everything else was missing. i.e the lighting, the textures and the details in the face (sweat).

Thanks Suff,

Let's just hope it's a good game all round, and we'll get a better idea once (some lucky) people get their sweaty mitts on the thing in Germany.

What would be nice was if they optimised the game for the different joypads, because the 360 analogue sticks feel pretty good to use, whereas most people would go for D-pad on the Sony side.

And of course optimise the following players: Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Andrei Voronin and Yossi "Da Israelite" Benayoun! \\:o/

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

I don't know why a lot of these pes6 X360 pics look better than the HD PES2008 pics...

What if everything else that was missing (textures, details, LIGHTENING), was included in the PS3 version of the game??

Obviously they CAN produce these effects, and the PS3 cell processor can handle them (provided that the game was properly programmed for it, unlike MANY ps3 games), so... why not?

PS - i don't have a ps3...

Because it is Konami!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

^What's from the Xbox 360...?

Anyway, all these screenshots confirm what someone already said here many posts ago... The 360 version is NOT a bad one. Sure, It has BIG pitfalls and several features are missing.

But regarding graphics AND gameplay, It is IMO the best version to date.
Graphics are really sweet (better than what we've been seeing on PES3008 shots to date), detail is excellent and gameplay is a lot better than on the PS2.

Another plus: someone argued that PES7 should be slower. Well, the 360 version is actually noticeably slower than PS2 version. It is highly more playable in my opinion and a big step forward.

The bad: well, the 360 version is actually a chimera, a work-in-progress release of the many times mentioned 20-months-development-time PS3 version, ported to the only next-gen hardware available with a sufficient customer base, mostly thanks to MS money...

Anyone who has played it knows that it's not even close to the PS2 version, even though it has the same slowdowns playing online... Those are caused by the gameplay engine, which was the only part in common with the PS2 version (and nonetheless, It's gameplay was tweaked in several aspects for the x360 version).

Thus, I am pretty sure that all versions will be the same except for MAYBE aditional features.

Graphics will be nothing more than a tweaked, revised x360 version with better lightning, pixel shaders (and maybe untucked shirts :lmao: ).

Features, all of the PS2 version plus new editing capabilities and some minor tweaks.

AI: The main challenge and maybe the big step forward.

And remember, PES7 has indeed been funded by the two big contenders. MS did it when it was just a starting project, Sony when it had its hardware out on the market.

i couldnt disagree more with that. The xbox360 version had the worse gameplay to date. Unresponsive and clumsy players. Also had the worse look ive ever seen. lighting was rushed and the kits had shit all detail. Sure the players werent made of boxes like the ps2 version, but the movement and presentation was put together just to make microft happy to get an "exculsive title".

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

^ Might well prove that Konami is up Sony's Arse! lets wait for the PS3 and then give the people what they want... doesnt matter that the 360 has been out there longer..

I agree on the clumsy player movement, but as I said the x360 version is nothing but a port of the early PS3 version, thus the x360 analog controller (by far superior to dualshock IMHO)is heavily unoptimized and it results in bad response. I also have the PSP version and it is even worse, because of the same fraudulent "port-it-and-forget" strategy that has earned so many extra dollars to Konami.

Regarding lightning, I cannot agree based on my experience. I have seen and played both versions and the x360 has a clear edge. And if it rains, it RAINS, not like in PS2. Even the sideline of the pitch appears wet and reflective because of the water on it. I call that next-gen... Oh, and there is also a general lack of shadows on the whole game's graphics, I know, it is a clearly a fault and if you talk about that, then I agree..

Animations are quite good, even though with flaws, they are on par with the PS2, which is not a big effort, but on par still..

Presentation: Playing ML, match presentation is miles ahead of PS2. General presentation is poor, yes, but hey, what could we expect if, again, the x360 version is a rushed early version of next year's PES?

And a final point: It is true that Microsoft got an exclusive title, but do not overlook Konami, which were pretty much the same or even more evil: they put a BETA on the market and fooled all of us happy customers who could finally play a "next-gen" football game. And they keep on going the same path this year with Sony: they take their money not to put a better version on the market, but to fund the costly PS3 development (this is only my personal opinion, no flaming here please).

Anyhow, I would like to say that I am no fanboy, seriously. 32 years are too many to adopt a youngster's pose and pretend all my life is about being a ps3 or x360 supporter. I only hope that the game is up to humanly doable expectations, for ALL platforms. Time will tell if the PS3 or the XXJDSD33400 are the best choice, and then, my wallet will open again (hopefully).

Cheers,

Sunwong :)

yeah i agree, some good points. u could see where konami were headed with the 360 version...hopefully the final pes08 build will live up to expectations. personnally, with all the time konami have had and the lack of subtaintual improvements in the last few PS2 versions of pes, i can see all the ideas coming together from konami to create something brilliant.

:applause::applause::applause: I agree 100%,the xbox 360 game is not that bad ,better lighting, better colours, better animations and it'd look magnificient.Gameplay is crap tough ,specially the shooting.
Why won't Konami give us perfectly colored football pitched ,I mean the green color they use in their pitches is so far from what we see in real stadium which is a shame.
Concerning the famous untucked shirt debate ,if it's included then :applause: if not who cares anyway.
Konami should really take a look at the way NBA 2K7 was dealt in terms of gfx (I mean the shirts/shorts movements ,the sweat ,the crowd, the team-mates on the bench reaction when you make a great dunk ....... )
Peace

I'm on that same thought process. Myabe a year or two from now, the next-gen games will be outstanding, gameplay-wise...but until then, the PS2 version will continue to be the best.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

I forgot something I would like to point out as a confirmation of my speculative thoughts about the 2008 edition and its origins being based on the PES6 PS3-X360 version...

Have you noticed that the crowds in the Brazil's screenshot shown some posts ago are also looking somewhere other than were the players are disputing the ball? It has remembered me the comments over the early screenshots in HD shown here by TG (thanks a lot for all the information and all you have been giving us so far, BTW... :) )

How many more times does this need to be said?

I predict he would need to be told just the once. FROM AN OFFICIAL SOURCE. As yet, it is still simply your word against his.

Perhaps you need to marry your PS3!
Why the need for a comment like this?

The_Knight's point of view appeared objective to me. If someone genuinely believes that X version will be better than Y, then I have no problem with them giving a non-biased opinion.

apparently the new PES is totally new so it will be nothing like the current supposedly "next gen" version we have not

so it should be better than the ps2 version, if not konami will lose alot of fans

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

They didnt when PES/WE5 was released and that game was terrible.

They have had over a year to fix the 360 version and port that to the PS3 but they are too stubborn to do that.
Instead they have started from scratch so i wouldnt expect much from the first PS3 release.

I know its sick and twisted and total fantasy.
I would laugh if the PS3 failed and Microsoft turned around and said screw you guys we are not releasing and of your games for screwing us over.
"go play with your Wii"

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

Seriuosly tho they could have used the last 2 years on the Xbox 360 to give them a serious headstart on their first PS3 release like EA/Fifa are clearly doing.
But instead they have to have their ignorant Japanese stance and start from scratch on the PS3.
They clearly have no clue when it comes to business or gaming strategy.

Don't expect a drastic change in game engine, why would they start over when their current engine earns them millions of pounds. why risk losing their place at the head of the market (gameply-wise).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/17/07)

LOL - look at the crowd in that pic - Either there is a fight going on at the other end of the pitch - or the game is boring.

I really hope this gets sorted in the new version - I know its petty, but its soooooo poor.

The thing that I find interesting is that all the screenshots seem to show the crowd looking towards the other end of the pitch, away from the action. It's quite uncanny, like Konami do have total control of where the crowd look and have deliberately decided to make them look the wrong way. Perhaps it a precursor of an item for the "new feature" list for PES2009, where the "crowd follow the action!!".

An yes, it is petty, you petty boy.
