Unplayable lag online

OK so it's the official launch day and i've tried 5 matches online and everyone has been the same, completley unplayable lag.

Players warping all over the place. Things do not look good...

Edit: I believe there is an issue with the server this evening so hopefully that was why. Great work though by Konami on the first night lol

I already ordered pes 2009 it will arrive in a few days. Lets hope this was not a regretful purchase I would not want to endevaur the same pes 2008 lag issues online. And I am hoping such problems do not exist or else it would be extremely, extremely SAD!
 
Better than last year but for me the online experience so far is far from perfect.
 
OK so now the servers are fixed I can report that if you are the home team it is fine but if you are away, and even if you both have green ping indicators, it still often feels laggy and 'wrong'. No real difference from 2008 IMO.

Coupled with the current choice between either having screen tearing or fast replays/unplayable corners and free kicks this is the worst PES launch yet. (I've tried all the combos of vsync/frame skipping but it's an either or situation at the moment for me so not impressed.)

Oh well, maybe next year...

Im still waiting for next week to hear more comments about the Online play. Maybe something is going to be done to the servers, updating something for them to not suck so much. We, waiters, just have to be patient and check the forum regularly for updates on this issue since it is the biggest part of PES.
 
I have played 5 matches and I'd say for 60% of the match it is ok. However whenever either player get a corner or freekick, you take it and it goes into benny hill mode, really fast and you dont know where you are. So disappointed as in this day and age this shouldnt be a problem. I actually like PES2009 as a game but online still sucks. I pray that its just early problems that will be ironed out, but im sure i said that last year lol.
 
I'm having the same problem. All cut scenes (Goal kicks etc...) show a blank screen, then a picture of the players walking out of the tunnel from a previous match I played !! Suddenly the game is back in play and the ball is flying over the opponents keeper for a goal kick to them !!!

Players are still tele-porting everywhere and the buttons are unresponsive.

I get a constant green icon and I know my connection is fine. Very disappointing

damn, so people are feeling it's the same online crap as 2008.

what a shame, the gameplay feels so much better.

Runs fine for me - I turned v-sync forced on in my graphic driver control panel, 60hz refresh rate, and then unticked v-sync and frame skipping in the PES2009 settings.
 
This game is unbelieveable online.

Just had a game where both of us had GREEN connection status icons yet the warping, ice skating was as present as its ever been.

The online service is once again a shambles so far.

Why do they even have servers, I thought servers were intended to act as a "medium" to improve the overall experience.

Konami seem to simply use them as a "Matchmaking" service, nothing else.

They should release a the server client so the community can host their own or something.

I have not bought a PES game since PES 5 and I swear the online play was better in that than PES 2009.

An absolute shambles.

I just hope its fixable but I doubt it.
 
I don't know what you guys are talking about lag. I played something like 10 matches online so far and havent experienced a single lag. If you want lagless games online get Broadband, and get rid of your dial ups, they're old fasioned nowadays!

Yeah 20mb connections are dial up. :II

There is clearly a major problem with the netcode that is effecting thousands of people.
 
I can't believe that online mode has lag again. HTF they do it? sorry but they need some owned hehehe
 
Same as most of you here, played a few games online and the game is just too laggy. Players react late, teleports and so on.. online = 0 for me!
 
What did you guys did with your pc or modem to play online ?
I can get online but when i want to enter a room i get an error message everytime. Only possible to play a quick match.
 
I've tried all of this but unfortunatelly i still get my problem in each game. Players are just running straight to the back line and there's nothing i can do, or the keeper runs thorwards his goal and i conceed goals because the goal is empty or when i try to switch players in defence they run away from the opponent and he's having an 1v1 situation....it's just unlplayabe.. For the second year in a row i've lost my money for a shit game, as i play only online. Even when i play with my mate who has the same connection (6 mbit)and we have green lights it's the same (and with PES6 we never had any lag, and we've played houndreds of games together).

I lost count of how many times i laughed with that video dude. xD
Now its ball AND player teleport and automatic auto-goals. lol Nice.
 
I think i found the solution to my problem (no reaction to my controls in online game). By accident i've minimalized the game to window mode and the problem dissapeeard.... I've played 3 matches in window mode in online and i haven't experienced any problems.....it's strange as in single player mode i don't have this problem, even when i play in full window mode....

 
PES6 I had perfect online play even though I was on a crappy 1Meg connection. Now I am on 20Meg and PES2009 lags like hell.

This is interesting, I too have some positive experiences playing in windowed mode. I tried doing it because my fullscreen-game keeps flashing between fullscrn/windowed/fullscreen-mode between play when I play online. With windowed mode it works better. Seems like it keeps sync better that way. Could be a vsync-issue I think.
