Things that annoy me in PES 2008

1) LAN mode, it's missing just like in PES5 and PES6. Why? Who knows... for sure this makes PES an unwanted game at LAN Parties. Stupid error by Konami, how can they ignore such mode in a football game :shock:

2) Online really sucks right now as we all now, and direct ip is also missing here. Also the chat is gone and the tournaments are gone. 2 nice features that are deleted for no reason at all, and makes the game a lot more boring online. You can't even taunt after a lucky goal...damn

3) The speed of the game. Sorry, but this is almost as bad as FIFA 99, waaaaaay too fast. If I want to play pingpong I'll buy a pingpong game, not PES! Also, because of the enormous pace it's easier to get to the other end of the field and thus create loads of chances, which brings me to...

4)...too many goals!!! Has to do with the speed of the game and the lack of stopping ability by the goalkeepers. Another part of the game Konami totally ruined. Why, god knows why...maybe they were drunk when creating the AI of the goalies!?

5) Dribbling, now it's too easy to dribble again like in PES5, make it harder and make them use R2 again please... this sucks, now any noob can pass a defender with Ronaldinho. It isn't supposed to be so easy for every goddamn newbie.. :/

6) Shooting...what the hell happened here? Every aimed shot goes wide, and every non-aimed shot goes right into the net. Makes no sense at all. Ah well, at least it's still better than FIFA, were shooting is a general disaster.

7) Corners and free kicks, AI scores 90% of them on top player. I've been playing PES since PES2 and I it's nearly impossible to stop. Super cancel, R2 movement, timing your headers or clearances, all have no effect in PES2008 it seems, the AI will just head right trough your defenders stumach as if it's the most normal thing ever. Free kicks are even worse, as nearly all of them land in the top corner, leaving your keeper fishing in the nets again. Ffs...fix it

8) Referees. Sad wankers, give cards way too easy, sliding has become almost a useless option now because 9/10 you'll get yellow or red. Damn.

There's probably more but i'm too tired right now :) still the game is fun for me, offline that is...
 
I'm playing on high detail with 1600x1200 resolution, have radeon x1950 (or sth like that, one of the best)
 
Even if he wasn't playing on high details. How one earth does high detail has anything to do with AI?

They made this so pirates that download this game wont play multiplayer...if they added LAN hamachin would allow these thieves to play online for free.

while removal of chat was not the best thing the racism and general profanity that was rampage made this happen...As far as lag is concerned it depends on the computer power of your opponnent...just play against people you know...

If you knwo how to defend and make formations its not that hard to pawn a noob...I do it all the time 3-0 scores with 0 chances for the barca noob...milan is the cure

agreed in absence of anything better this is the best you can get

That’s just ridiculous...
This game is so easy to play, you need a sprint button and a overrated player and a noob CAN beat your defence every time. Why?
Because the defence sucks
because the keepers sucks
because there is no midfield
because the strikers are mutants

Maybe if your formation is 10-0-1 its difficult for a noob to past that. But with a 5-4-1 or something like that with al arrow to the back and defence level on high a noob gone run to the wings with ronny , henry , messi and your defender isn’t able to catch him up then they gone make a cutback and they score bla bla. Or maybe you are the most skilled player  but I don't believe you if you say

you are only defending a truly shit game with 0.0% balance.

and no I’m not a FIFA fan because they sucks also..
This year is a bad year for really football fans.

thank you Seabass to make this game a FIFA look a like game that everyone can play with no skills.

-Dude, it's possible to make a login with cd-key and all even with network mode, they could EASILY make the same verification before network and direct ip matches... I am a programmer so I do know what I'm talking about. So, that's 1 down

-Lol, I play against people in my street who have a 20mb connection and it's still very laggy at times, with no downloads whatsoever going on, and my computer power is, as stated, brilliant. I have no problems with Cod4, Cod, FIFA or any other game online, just PES 2008 at the moment. Coincedance? I think not. Hilarious, that's 2 down

Game verification FAILED amazingly...look at steam...or Bioshock...cracked withing hours of their release...

Whats hilarious is the fact that computer POWER difference is what makes online games shit...thats why there is a search for same power computers

I dont know...Ive defeated a barca noob today 5-0...Kaka and Ronaldo tore him apart while Nesta and Maldini killed his attacks...

I agreed with that...though sometimes the game desides it should win...I just lost against Newcastle 5-0...

I dont use the :circle: unless Im 90% confident ill get the ball...I dont get that many cards...i dont know it might be just me...

Your 8th point correct, i dont find it for sliding, but just for a small tackle where its not a foul they call a foul. I'm pretty good at sliding to be honest ;)
 
The LAN/Direct IP mode was taken off for anti-piracy reasons just as Hellenes said. There is no way to block LAN play with online verification unless you require and internet connection for verification. But even with that it would still be easy to crack. The way it works now is the only way to completely block pirated versions from playing online .Although it should still be relatevily easy to crack since you the game "server" is just a chat room used for verification and the game is P2P. I assume with a packet sniff you would easily be able to determine the chat room verification protocol and game initiation protocol and code a dummy verification server. Then just replace the DNS of any Konami server with your dummy server's IP in your hosts file and presto...
 
I agree with the free kicks 100%.
I'm trying my first ML and you may as well give the computer a penalty than a direct free kick around the box.
At least its possible to save penalties.
Its impossible to save free kicks.

i don't have enough time in my life to describe annoying things in 2008.

one of the most annoying is long passes for me, even with R2 you cannot do a floating crossfield pass.

and up there with long passes is the shooting ...sheeeet they've fucked it up a treat lol.

playing the game it's unbelievable to think this game was made by konami.

TOTALLY AGREE. Imagine the situation: Average striker, 1on1 vs. goalkeeper - in PES6 filled the shooting bar into its half and pushed the R2 = technical shot - GOAL. -> in PES 2008 fill the bar into its half and push R2, you'll miss the target. Try use L2 - the power shot - GOAL! Totally upside-down!

In other points I agree too.... KONAMI fucked it up, but I play it anyway. But I am going to get FIFA 2008 for my Xbox, just because of those tricks. It's amazing.
