Christmas as it has become known today:
It has become associated with Santa Claus, Snow-men, gifts,

The true meaning of Christmas:

Well it was'nt Christmas then....but some pagan celebration....and just because that day was being used by pagans...does'nt mean Christians should postpone the actual Christmas to some other day.

matthew how do you feel about the newlife leader in colorado(haggard)? In my eyes he is a complete and utter hippocrite, and it shows you how weak some of his arguments about gay marriage are and gays in general... Did this piss you off, or do you just slag it off as the devils work?

Well if he was opposing gay-marriage/homosexuality so much
and then doing the same thing, ....then yes it's hypocritical.
But I don't want to judge him, there are many people
including you and I who may be hypocritical in smaller things.
Let God be the judge, for He knows the truth.
I'm not sure what you mean about being pissed off ?
Haggard being shown up as a hypocrite does not mean anything
to me....it only goes to prove how fallible man is.
It would be wrong to think that we are better than he is.
Every man commits sin in some way or the other.
At the end of the day we all fall short of God's perfect standards, be it Haggard, Saddam or Bush or myself or you.
We still need a Savior to save us from judgement.
God looks at our heart, do we have the heart to confess
our sins and try not to repeat it.
If we think we are good enough to go to Heaven on our own
by relying on our own works, then we're doomed.
If Haggard truly confessed his sins and repents, and believes
that Christ will save him, then God will save him.
Same goes with all of us.
There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ.
Regarding Haggard's arguments about gay marriage, I don't know
to what extent he has opposed them.
His being a hypocrite has weakened his own personal stance.
But it's like saying, a person opposes drugs,
and then later on is found being a drug-addict himself.
That does not mean it's ok for everyone to do drugs since
one person is proved a hypocrite.
Personally I look at God's Word in the Bible that
tells me all I need to know about gay-marriage/homosexuality:

Scientists are all divided by the birth of Jesus Christ. Noone knows for sure. Even in the centuries after Jesus.
The Romans put the birth of Jesus on 25-26 dec. because it was a popular pagan celebration those days. That way the knife cuts on boths sides: the Romans made it easy for the population to adapt to Christianity. Also there was/is now a date for the birth of Jesus. The whole Western calendar is a mix of pagan and christian rituals.
Correct me if I am wrong, but thats they way I learned it.

wow, you must not watch the news much! He was all over it because he was Bushs direct consel on evangalisim. I think the fact that you quote the bible as your basis for banning gay marriage or condenming acts of homosexuality is a major weakness in your argument. For instance, what if im an atheist and I dont beleive in your bible, then who are you to tell me that being gay is wrong? This is why religion has no place in politics. Go ahead and do whatever you want in your church, but keep your beliefs there and only there, dont force your beliefs on everyone else. And this goes back to haggard, here is a man, seeping into politics, claiming marriage is only between a man and woman, being a homosexual is not natural and against gods will. yet here he is getting blow jobs from a male hooker and trying to get as much meth as he can... Participating in illegal acts and acts he wants to deem illegal, yet he now hides behind his god and his bible because as you stated

So if the above is true, why dont churches leave it up to god to decide if homosexuality is wrong? Why not wait until homosexuals have lived there life and they will face judgement when they get to god? See my point, to me its one big hipocracy... Instead churches try to impose there will and beliefs in the name of god, and then when there leaders become only human, they once again hide behind there god..... Why hasnt hagard been chastised by his church? Why hasnt he been ostracised? Isnt this what god did in the bible when someone had wrongend him? Didnt he send them to hell? Why dont they treat haggard like they do other homosexuals? I really cant beleive you never heard of this guy..

No I don't watch much news nowadays.
How can quoting the Bible be a major weakness ?
I believe in God's commandments and laws which are clearly
stated in the Bible.
For me that is very important.
If someone is an atheist, and they don't want to listen
to God's laws/commands, then that is their choice.
May God open their eyes.
The Bible clearly states that those who do not believe in God
will go to Hell after death.
BTW, I'm not shoving it down anybody's throats.
I'm just airing my beliefs.

If you want to approve gay marriages and support it, then
that is your choice
All I can do is warn anyone that by ignoring or not believing
God's word, then a person is risking eternal judgement.

Let me tell you one thing....why don't people who support
gay marriages keep it within their homes...why do they want
to force the Laws to change to accept their "marriages".
Tell me one thing, if gay marriages are normal, then explain
to me why it's natural for a man and woman to marry and produce
children....tell me why can't two men produce children...
why can't two women produce children?
The reason for having children, to have descendants, to prolong the

Look at the intelligence of human-kind, the complexity of creation, the majesty of creation, the beauty, the balance,
the love between human beings, all this did not happen by
some gigantic cosmic fluke....there is a God who created this
in His mercy. And His laws are real and to be followed. His Laws are real,
and His judgements are real.
I'm not even defending Haggard or his church. Not every
church truly represents Christ or God.
Sure there may be a lot of hypocrisy....and the Bible says they
will also face judgement if they do not follow God's laws.
God is not partial to anyone, because every man starts
at the point of Zero. Our basic nature is to sin....
it is only by accepting Jesus Christ's sacrifice will we
be justified, sanctified and saved from Hell.
A person can call him/herself a Christian, but if they don't truly accept Christ
in their heart, and if they keep breaking God's commands without any repentance,
then Hell awaits the person.
Haggard obviously had no right to tell people anything since
he himself was doing so.
Not every Church or Priest represents true Christianity.
So you should not generalize them.
The Bible states that there will be many who claim to be
Christian but are not true Christians at heart
....there will be Churches who claim to be of Christ, but they don't follow His commands.
You're saying that religion should be kept out of politics,
let me ask you why should that be so?
God created man, why should man keep God out of his affairs?
There is such a drastic push towards keeping God out of the schools, govt, etc...
By allowing non-Godly things into human affairs, that is when
we bring forth our own downfall.
If anything, by following God's commands we prevent chaos.
Regarding the nature and extent of sins (murder, lies, stealing, adultery, envy, anger, pride, lust, sexual perversion/homosexuality, etc,etc)
these are clearly specified in the Bible.
God clearly tells us what must be avoided....it can't get any more clear than that.
But God also tells us not to judge other people.
It is a duty of any Christian or Church to make people aware
of the breaking of any of God's laws if the offender is not
aware of it. We can inform them, advise them, pray for them.
But we can't judge them.
If somebody sins against us, we should forgive them.
Just because God punishes those who sinned against Him, we have no right
to do the same against people who wrong us.
If we forgive others, then God forgives our sins.....
No human is without sin, therefore he needs God's forgiveness. Which means
we cannot judge and condemn others.
Jesus clearly says that we should forgive others, love one another.
So if a church comes out and opposes Gay marriages, but in
a peaceful way, then it's OK. As long as they're not hypocritical.
It would be wrong on their part to sit quietly and watch
the Laws being changed to support non-Godly acts.
The least they can do is peacefully inform and warn people
about God's laws and judgements.
If someone sins, but truly repents, then the Church should also forgive.
