Hi, trying to run SPFL2026 with latest patches on my Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 12

- Intel i7 155H

- 32 GB Ram

- Integrated Intel® Arc™ Graphics (MTL)

- Fedora 43, Gnome + Wayland

- Kernel Linux 7.1.5-101.fc43.x86_64

I tried with different versions of wine, crash log is from wine-10.16 (Staging)

I tried running the game but get crashes on startup, full crash log here:
https://pastebin.com/TbV6mZmP

Does anyone have the game running on integrated graphics over wine or similar? Would be greatful for some pointers.

SP Football Life 2026 (or PES 2021-based mods) under Wine/Proton on modern Linux setups—especially on Intel Arc (Meteor Lake) with Wayland—has a few known structural pain points.

Here are the most likely causes for crashes on start/launch with SPFL2026, along with the targeted fixes to resolve them:

1.

  • Symptoms: The game crashes immediately on splash, gives a Wine exception dialog, or fails right as Sider.exe attempts to attach to FL_2026.exe.
  • Cause: Wine/GE-Proton versions higher than Wine 10.16 or standard GE-Proton 10+ break the underlying Steam overlay hook and iSteamUser bindings that PES 2021 / SPFL relies on.
  • Fix:
    • Stick to Wine-10.16-Staging or Wine-GE / GE-Proton 9.x.
    • Disable the Steam Overlay completely if launching through Steam.
    • Launch the game executable directly (<span>FL_2026.exe</span> or <span>FL 2026 start.exe</span>) rather than through secondary wrappers if using Lutris or Heroic.

2. Intel Arc / Mesa VKD3D / Vulkan Wayland Issues

Because you are running an Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) with Arc Graphics on Fedora 43 / Wayland:

  • VKD3D-Proton: PES 2021 defaults to DirectX 11, which uses DXVK. However, if Sider modules force DirectX 12 or extended features, Intel ANV (Mesa's Intel Vulkan driver) can trigger a GPU reset.
  • Wayland / Display Server: Standard Wine virtual desktop modes or borderless modes under GNOME Wayland can cause immediate crashes upon window creation.
  • Workarounds to try in your launcher (Lutris / Heroic / Bottles / Steam):
    1. Add the environment variable: VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11,dxr or force DXVK using DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="Intel" to ensure it binds correctly to the Arc tile.
    2. Set PROTON_USE_XALIA=0 or disable Gamescope temporarily to verify if GNOME Wayland is breaking window creation.
    3. Ensure gamescope isn't forcing an unsupported refresh rate/resolution on the 2.8K / 4K OLED panels common on Gen 12 X1 Carbons.

3. Missing Dependencies in the Wine Prefix

SPFL2026 requires specific Windows runtimes installed into the same prefix:

Using winetricks (or via Heroic/Lutris prefix options), make sure you have installed:

  • <span>dotnet48</span> (.NET Framework 4.8)
  • <span>dotnet8</span> (.NET 8 Runtime)
  • vcrun2022 (Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable)
  • corefonts

How to share the crash log

If you can paste the last 20–30 lines of the Wine log (or tell me where it cut off—e.g., crashes on startup, crashes on splash, crashes on selecting match/database), I can tell you the exact library or hook causing the fault!

I've got Lutris and with claude's help i've got FL 2026 working beautifully on ubuntu, on a headless server, and I play remotely via sunrise / moonlight.

Using a desktop computer though, with an nvidia 3070. In lutris as runner i have proton - experimental.

On DLL overrides i have

ddraw n,b
lsteamclient d
steam_api64 n,b

and all the enables, dxvk, esync, fsync, etc.

On environment variables I have

ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI 0
PROTON_USE_XALIA 0

There is a lutris community install for fl2026 by eskay993, I used that as base with claude.
