This looks pretty great. I think HDZ was one of my favorite PS4 games so I'm hoping it eventually comes to PC. Don't know if this is actual gameplay or more like a teaser? Looks like the E3 2015 reveal trailer for HZD which was a bit different gameplay wise and AI wise, but still looks fantastic.

Did Alloy gain some weight?

 I thought so too, when I saw the thumbnail.

...but for the good, I say! :)

Gran Turismo 7 Could Launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5

According to a post today on the PlayStation Blog, there’s a chance that Gran Turismo 7 might be a cross-generational PlayStation game, running on both PS4 and PS5 consoles.

The blog post isn’t about Gran Turismo specifically, but consists of an interview with Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios. PlayStation Studios is the arm of Sony which manages the various development teams that create the “first-party” games, including Polyphony Digital and Gran Turismo.

In the post, Hulst talks about the challenges of recent months, and some of the titles in development across both current console generations. However there’s a specific question about PlayStation 4 which very much catches the eye:

PlayStation Blog: How does PS4 factor into PlayStation Studios’ development vision? Is it still a focus internally for future game development?

Hermen: It very much is. You can’t build a community of over 110 million PS4 owners and then just walk away from it, right? I think that’d be bad news for fans of PS4, and frankly not very good business.

Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.

That being said, it’s also very important to have showpieces for PS5, hence the development of Returnal and Ratchet that are exclusive to PS5.

The messaging behind Gran Turismo 7‘s development has been a little mixed over the past year, variously described as being developed for PlayStation and for PlayStation 5 specifically at different points. This comment from Hulst certainly seems to hint back towards the former situation.

However it’s still difficult to draw a definitive conclusion from the rather carefully chosen words. Hulst only remarks that PlayStation Studios will “continue looking at” developing individual titles for both console generations “where it makes sense to” do so, rather than outright confirming Gran Turismo 7 as a PS4 and PS5 title. Horizon Forbidden West is already confirmed as a cross-gen game, while the God of War sequel’s situation is very similar to GT7 — having also been pushed back to 2022.

In some respects, the idea of GT7 as a cross-gen game has plenty of merit. With PS5 sales still limited by availability, an established playerbase of 110 million consoles looks pretty attractive when it comes to selling games.

Fans will nonetheless be concerned that the game will need to be effectively the same on both consoles, with only PlayStation 5 “enhancements” to make it look nicer and load faster on the new console. That could limit how Polyphony Digital could leverage the PS5’s capabilities.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this as it develops.

@PRO_TOO

I remember ages ago showing a video of Hell Let Loose and you were impressed by it.
It has now been confirmed that it is coming to PS5 this year. (not PS4)
great news! ...and its supposed to be released in 2021!
cant wait for a tactical shooter setting itself apart from all the BF's and COD'S and what not...!!

TBH, I have not played it for a while.
But it is such a breath of fresh air compared to BF, which IMO has become more and more a COD clone with each release.

The BF games are quite fun, but they are not the team based tactical shooter it once was with BF2.

I highly recommend Hell Let Loose, it so much better than the other one I tried - Enlisted, which was just garbage.

Is it only me thinking the PS Store deals are an absolute rip off this year? It seems they are initially overpricing games that were released 2-5 years ago and then they give you a discount of 33% or 50%. If I didn't have a PC I would be really disappointed by these pricing tactics.

I'll make this as a console related question (easily could be PC but i wasnt into PC back in the days).
So compared to the avarage monthly salary in the 90's how much was in your country a PS1 or Super Nintendo game?
Because i just realised the game prices and neither the console ones really raised compared to the 90's in my country but the avarage salaries did pretty much. In the 90's a game cost 34% of the avarage salary, nowdays it is 8%. And of course today i was calculating with no delux edition prices but with an AAA game's standard edition release price. But of course a few months and the 8% is much lower, especially now that you can easily find people online to swap your games, not to mention deals on the PS store or lower priced still quality games.
Just weird to think about that its not a luxury thing anymore in my country for the avarage people. The more difficult thing is to find a place to live where you can play video games tbh.

I remember growing up with both an Amiga and SNES.
I remember SNES games were £60 a game, back in the 90s and Amiga games were around £20-£30 for new games - Although sorry to say it, most of my Amiga games just cost the price of a blank disk.

The cost of PC gaming is now around £30-£35 for a AAA title and PS5 games are around £50-£70.

So games certainly in the UK have remained very constant, although around the PS1 - PS2 era games went down to £40 for a new title which was the norm for quite a few years.

I think games have said relatively the same price due to volume of which they are sold at.
A top game in the 90s probably only sold about 5% of what a AAA game sells now.

btw: PS5 beta user will soon be able to use/test regular NVME (that fit the Sony standards) in their consoles.

I signed up for the BETA ages ago, but so far have not been accepted onto it.
It would of been nice to get on it, as the PS5 storage is really ridiculous - I am so glad that it is not my primary gaming machine.

I just can't believe it has been about 8/9 months since launch and they still haven't activated the 2nd NVMe slot yet.
