SLOVAKIA thread

Re: Slovakia football thread

I have small hope for Marseille but who knows..maybe they will at least win one match at home :) The good thing for Zilina is massive experience and the fact they will fight next season again for europe matches...either europe league or Champions league..they have good managment..

Re: Slovakia football thread

Today it is necessary to National team Slovakia very difficult away match in Armenia. Though Armenia and is weaker, than Slovakia, but matches with it always difficult and unpredictable so easy walk for Slovaks today it will not turn out. If it is fair, I will support Armenia, as in any way fraternal people, and also very much it would be desirable, that Slovakia couldn't come off other persecutors (speech about Russia), more shortly, I hope for a good match and on a victory of Armenia.:BRMM:

Also from matches in this group, except for matches of Russia and Slovakia, the match Andorra - Macedonia will be interesting. Very much it would be desirable, that Andorra has given the present battle to Macedonians and could type though one point on the home field though hardly it to happen.:P

known for his nickname "Bimbo" he was one of the best defenders of history of football and one with a magnificent left foot, in his own words it was like a hockey-stick..

In his carrer he played for Czechoslovakia on World cup 1958 in Sweeden. His position as one of best world defenders he continued on European championship in France 1960. In world cup 1962 he played in Final against Brazil, that Czechoslovakia lost 3:1.

in year 2000 he was named best Slovakian player of the 20.th century.

He was known as big gentleman, he was respected everywhere, even in the oposite supporters. In his 19 years of professional carrer he was never booked.

REST IN PEACE LEGEND!

Re: Slovakia football thread - RIP Jan Popluhár.

interesting match tonight against Belgium, i thought we will get hammered by them after Hazard´s penalty...but somehow we managed to lose only 2:1... Great debut goal by Lasik, i predict him similar future as Hamsik... great debut by Mak in senior team as well..i´m happy about the youngsters..

however Vittek as our only striker hope atm is alarming...he is worse than Andy Carroll...

Re: Slovakia football thread.

What about playing Hamsik as a Honda-syle faux striker? Marek has been lethal in front of goal for Napoli. He's pure class.

Re: Slovakia football thread.

Marek need´s the Napoli quality around him in NT team, and since we don´t have it, he is half the player in NT... sadly..

it´s different to set up Vittek and Cavani...

With Lasik playing a more deep CM he might get to his AM position sooner than later in NT i think..

Re: Slovakia football thread.

Belgium totally outplayed Slavakia in the first half.
In the second half Slovakia decided it to do 45 minutes of martial arts and Belgium fell for it (Lukaku once again showed how poor he is for our national team).Whe, they scored the equaliser it was a dserved one and if you consider the second half Belgium didn't deserve the (very good) winning goal.
The team you played in the second half was a C team, except for Dries Mertens who scored our winning goal. IMO he is our national team's best attacking player, much better than Hazard. This guy should play in a big competition and this for a big club.

All in all i wasn't too impressed with Slovakia. Hamsik indeed is a very good player, but yesterday he hadn't the chance to show it because of his piss poor team mates. Our national team had an absolute stinker and still won.

PS: our national team is still masively overrated because they can't score despite their (sometimes overwhelming) dominance.

that's certainly true, but still it's a valid argument for every player on this planet. even messi and ronaldo would be less impressive with lesser teammates (of course they would still make a huge impact, but their stats wouldn't be as mindblowing as they are).

however hamsik is as much a factor for napoli as cavani. and if cavani is a world class striker, then marek is most definitely a world class inside forward. ever since his first season in serie a (when he was just 20) he's never scored less than 10 goals per season. his scoring average has always been improving since his first season (and to score 10 goals in your first season in serie a is already an amazing achievement) and he's probably gonna end this season with more than 18 goals.
not to mention his assists.
there are probably just about 4 or 5 inside forwards on the planet who could do better than this. no more.
he's unquestionably one of the very best performers in his role.
candreva is good... dembele is very good. hamsik is something else.

Re: Slovakia football thread.

Must say i felt pity for Hamsik yesterday.
He might well be the player with the most qualities on the pitch yesterday, but his team mates are very average...
Great player. Must say Napoli surprises me this season, i thought the loss of Lavezzi would have been a huge blow for them. Turns out it isn't.

dissapointed, but not down... this match should have been a draw.. Wales as expected depend on Bale and Ramsey.. they are very good actually..

Hamsik should realy have scored, it was a fantastic chance.. the Bale goal was expected realy..

should have stayed 1-1.. now it will be difficult to get the best out of two next matches..

fan riots continue in Lille... shame..

back to Slovakia match i think, honestly my country is always performing better if nothing is expected from them.. in all sports realy... i knew we will not lose against Russia, now that our coach changed the lineup and introduced Pecovsky back to DM. He offered stability and experience instead of still young unexperienced Hrosovsky, who had a shocker against Wales...still i think if Hamsik scored that chance he had against Wales in third minute, we would win the match... after Wales goal from Bale free kick we were shocked and our midfield was not prepeared well for Wales formation...

But we seem to play more compact football without our real wings and more with a compact midfield of diamond with Hamsik and Kucka feeding balls to our attacking players just like today against Russia...with a proper DM covering them..

also how good will Duda become, he can achieve a top class status imo.. the boy is our bigest talent..

What is good from today from Slovakia´s point of view is that we believe in ourselfs, i knew also against Wales we are not finished in this tournament... to bad it did not end as draw, which would be more fair imo...

i feel confident for a good result against England.

yeah, he is finally performing for our NT same way he is performing for Napoli... for years we had bad players but now the quality of our football is on rise, and we have very talented U21 players just waiting to be introduced to senior squad for WC qualification... Hamsik will always perform better sorounded by better quality.. but his timing of form couldn´t be better...starting with a wonder goal against Germany in preparation for EURO, where we beat them... almost a goal against Wales where he was realy unlucky..could have been a fantastic goal..and now with assist and a wonder goal against Russia...it almost reminded me of PES :D how it went from the bar to the net..it was just perfect.

as said i feel confident aganist England as our NT always seem to play well aganist British teams somehow...that game against Wales was realy unlucky for us... on other day that would be a draw or win...we underperformed and got unlucky realy.

Hamsik gets a lot of the praise and rightly so but I think Weiss should get a mention too as his workrate is very good often, also Durica is a very good defender arguably Lokomotiv Moscow's best player over the last few years.

for me Hamsik is a unique player, to be honest i don´t watch him in Naples that much, but he standed out yesterday big time...he was class above some of the English players as well.. i think yesterday only Sturridge was maybe better, but seriously he is top class and i never realised it fully... he is top top clubs material i think.. but he will never leave Naples... to bad, since i think with top team mates, he would achieve big things..
