Shielding/Holding Up The Ball

In pes 2010 i could have sworn the players used to automatically do it.

yep...

even this morning i thought of doing a thread like this one.

it seems konami takes out a very important gameplay feature every year !

pes 2010 did it, fifa does it .... maybe pes 2012 could do shielding , but diferently ( allow us to shield the ball , not just when stopped , but also running... thinking about how defenders shield the ball from attackers when the ball is going out of bounds )

Nope, they've broken it. You can only shield if your player, and their player lines up. So if a player is closing you down front on, you cannot put yourself behind the ball to shield it. Konami, what have you done.

Yep, he's right. It's automatic and it works like a charm. Beware of strong defenders though

It won't shield players that approach from front on though rendering it useless. You can only shield if the defenders happens to come from behind. However in pes this rarely happens as players often chase back while the defenders sit back.

I dont think anyone quite understands, in pes 10 your player would shield the ball no matter which direction the opposing player came from.

its good that this auto shielding is gone, unrealistic and much too simple

in reality if a player is running at u head on there wudnt be a shielding, no player in this situation turns around n shields the ball
he rather passes back or elsewhere
maybe he turn to the side and shields with his arms but well thats too much to ask from konami i think..

now if a players comes from behind its still auto shielding but thats ok

I think that what happen with autoshielding system in PES 2011

opponent from front = no shielding = loose the ball
opponent from back, left back, right back. = autoshielding, you can use Left Analogue to push against the opponent

I'm also thankful that the "player automatically shields the ball in the opposite direction of the opponent" is gone.

I guess you guys have never watched real football, a target man like drogba, or even a strong center forward in league one can move position to shield a ball no matter the position a defender comes from. Its not rocket science.

if both players are running and the defender comes to u head on there just wudnt be a shielding, only if the player with the ball stops and do the shielding standing sideways to the defender(thats what they shud build into the game)
or u think lets say drogba just stops running and shows his ass to the defender ?! nope mate (that happend in pes 010 often)
